The design of that car was way ahead of its time! It's like you want to ask who went in the time machine into the future and then came back and designed it! Love the rawness of both cars

You've already done that with the 2012 Mustang Cobra Jet prototype, I'm sure it would've been even more of a world-class killer than the tiny V6!

Sure, apples and oranges, trucks are not sportcars, but it seems to me that Ford isn't willing to bring the EcoBoost technology to the V8's. Would've been great, though, 'cause I feel they'd be giving even more of supercar levels of power to the masses, even more than already is with the Mustang GT, GT350 and GT500, which use N/A (GT/GT350) and supercharged (GT500) V8's. I always say that the biggest problem isn't downsizing itself, but cutting down the cylinders...Aston Martin, for example. They went from a 5.9L V12 (advertised as 6.0L), naturally aspirated, to a 5.2 twin turbo...but still keeping the V12 configuration. That was a good thing, because they know the emotional value of their V12, and buyers wouldn't accept anything less. Yes, I know they've got models with a V8, but the V12 buyers go for the V12. If you cut down the cylinders, that's when enthusiasm starts falling, even if the new engine is much more efficient and powerful.
Shawn & the guys did another excellent job, but... I'm just waiting for the news report, "Superformance Ford GT40 | Supercharged Coyote has gone missing, banging on the rev-limiter, last seen in the hands of Shawn Davis with an exceedingly silly grin wrapped around his head as he disappeared in the San Gabriel Mountains, heading for parts unknown!!"
Love the cars superformance makes. It would be cool to have them all but if I had to choose two to start with it would be the shelby cobra 289 slabside in British green and the gulf oil race painted 50th anniversary gt40.
I'm curious of the transmission setup. Considering the stick is on the door sil and not even closely aligned with the engine. I just don't have the knowledge of how they can do that?
It is a solid rod going back to the transaxle. It is actually better than a center shifter which relies on cables to work their way around the engine to the side of the transaxle. With the Sill Shifter, the steel rod has a pretty straight shot back to the transaxle and provides incredible feel and shifting.

Hi Luis - We have one right now with a Roush 427 Windsor with 8 stack EFI and it puts out 560HP, so about 100 less. You definitely get a different sound with the pushrod engine and 560HP is more than enough!

I gotta say, I've been a GM man 'dyed in the wool', grew up in Flint, Michigan, 70 years old now and the GT-40 is leading me astray. I want to feel the power of that 427 engine. I've been the route with everything GM up to the LS7 and the ZR-1, this is my first time on your show and I'm subbing, leaving a thumbs up and clicking on the bell,however, I'd like to see a little more behind the wheel time. Love the "mashup" idea, and the livery. Not sure I love the sound of the coyote in this case though. I had a Backdraft Cobra replica with a Coyote making 420hp at the wheels (a little lighter than the GT40). I loved that sound. Maybe the GT40 is just overpowered to the point that you never really get to hear the Coyote screaming at 6500 rpm.

Wow indeed this is a nice more modern rendition. While I do love the coyote motor and the ability to supercharge or twin turbo charge it, I still dig the Windsor but I wouldn't be too picky with either one. Glad Superformance is keeping this dream car alive.
If only they had updated to scissor or butterfly doors so you can get in and out of the car without requiring a full open door width...think they missed a trick there

Love it, but I rather the Mk I. That Gulf Oil paint is so unique and iconic, and even the wheels with knock-off spinners are right. If I had one built, it would be the Mk I with an all-aluminum 351 non-supercharged if that's possible. I would want it to be as light as possible.
Even though there are performance advantages of the flat-plane crank I'm not a fan of the sound it makes. In the Ford Coyote engine the sound feels too harsh on my ears, to me it feels like my eardrums are being shredded. I prefer the sound of the cross-plane crank in the original Mark 1 GT40. But that's just me and I suspect you would get near a 50-50 preference for each sound in a mass survey.
Great car, it doesn't need a tail for aero. The standard exhaust is the only option. The coyote sounds like any other super car today. You just can't beat the original, looks and sound. Still a beautiful car!!
If this was a beauty pageant, Ferrari just lost. Sorry, i had to edit that quote from Ken Miles from Ford VS. Ferrari. Love the right hand drive configuration the modern day aero package, and suspension. This car and the MKI are truly the work of a genius. The Mk1 was my favorite more than 30 years ago. Better than the F40, or any Ferrari. Then it was the XJR-15. Twenty years ago, it became the F1. Then the Ford GT. Now, can't anyone recreate the Furai? I'm fickle.
