Lotta wood and work 👍
It sure is
I actually got the same splitter a couple weeks ago on my birthday. The very first log I tried to split shot up and hit me square in the nose. As soon as it hit I thought for sure it was broken. Tough lesson learned.
That thing missed me a few times…😡😡😡 I just feel it when it’s going to spit a log🪵🪵
Got the same splitter too😁👍. Looks like the wood split pretty dang good! I got 6 month old live oak that’s still too hard to split 👎
Awesome!!!
thank you brother
Man I’m jealous lol. I share your passion for great BBQ, a lot of people just don’t understand it. They think it’s just putting meat on fire and eat. You
Relate that passion! 🍺🍺
Well said🍻🍻 brother
Nice job, I just split some pecan wood this week and also scored a 14 foot by 24 inch diameter log that I will make some slab lumber out of of. Keep on smoking!
Right on
2 face cords of oak 2 face cords of pecan, nice wood in your back yard,
Thank you🙏🏽🙏🏽.. I think I m good for a while
I didn’t realize that cordless chainsaw was that powerful. Enjoying your channel keep up the great content. I found your channel researching offset smokers. Haven’t decided yet but glad I found your channel
yeah man ,that dewalt got some power for a battery chain saw.i know how hard it is to settle on one maker of pits.i m glad I went with workhorse pits...their machines are top notch.thank you for watching
As long as you can source hardwood you will LOVE IT! To me, it’s a Blast 😊👍
Nice score 👍🙌
thank you
I was busting some 35” Diameter white oak the other day that I got from my dads front yard it was some work I’m with ya! I love pecan tho it’s my favorite it’s just really hard to get in Kentucky
It’s hard to get here as well..most tree service sell it instead of giving it away.that’s why I jumped on this one right away even though I have oak supply for few years..
I've got two free pecan trees that I'm going to get this weekend. It's a lot of work, but when you consider what Academy charges for their bags of hardwood splits...
and very satisfying too
And those kiln dried splits have 1/3 the flavor.
@@daltonbeall2657 I save those to start the fire...nothing goes to waste.... bark for mulch
Loved the video! Would be awesome you showed how much wood is spent on average on different cooks like Brisket, ribs etc. I don't think anyone has ever done that!
That sound like a good idea…thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 will consider it for next time
Nice I ordered a 6 ton log splitter it will arrive tomorrow how do you come across these people giving the free wood away? That’s a ton off money you saved great thanks

Maaaannnnn You SCORED!!!!! Didn’t think we had many Pecan trees in central Florida. I’ve been buying kiln dried from Academy 👎. Pecan is my Favorite for flavor and use local oak for coal bed which is pretty good 👍
not as many as oak though

thank you
Have a quick question, how long after you cut the wood that you start splitting? Bought the same splitter and have gotten some oak and man when is freshly cut like really freah anything like 10” or wider it does not aplit it at all unless i go to the edges and work myself through it.
sometimes I have to turn the logs around until I find a crack or the splitter is in good position to cut.not all the logs get split on the first try... I've split fresh wood and dry wood as well.sometimes it's so knotted you just can have a crack at it.try to split from the edges of the log...it works for me
What kind of log splitter is that brother? Another great bbq video. Prepping the wood is an important step to making good bbq. 💯
Your absolutly right.. fuel is half the cook. www.harborfreight.com/lawn-garden/outdoor-power-tools/log-splitters/5-ton-12-amp-electric-log-splitter-63366.html
@@BackyardWarrior Thank you!
Nice video. Can the wood 🪵 be used right away to smoke with or does it have to age for a while?
it's not recommended ,the smoke is bitter and the wood burns dirty.will ruin what ever meat you smoking. I would suggest at least 3-4 months old wood.. preferably over 1 year dried wood is perfect for burning.thank you for watching.
What splitter do you use?

Thanks bud! If you dont mind, what sizes do you cut your wood length wise? Planning on getting the same pit and would like to start getting some wood already specially the correct size. Thanks!!!
@@yaxelcastaneda5993 12-16 inch works great for me..I crisscross them in the fire box
Wish I could find some free wood. 😁👍
