Great video and firewood knowledge from Joe. I came to watch this video from his channel. One sure way to tell if your firewood is dry, it to get an inexpensive moisture meter. Anything below 20% is dry enough to burn. Be sure to also check the middle of the piece of firewood as the ends dry the fastest.
In Oklahoma firewood dealers spray their wood with insecticide to kill off all the termites. Honestly, I really don't like the idea of using insecticides in my smoker.
Hi WW BBQ - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I have followed Joe for many months and greatly enjoy his fellowship. His approach to firewood production and service provision is an inspiration to many aspiring firewood producers. Us firewood enthusiasts are quite an international crowd, which adds to good banter between us and the useful exchange of ideas.
it's crazy how I follow both of you gentlemen and never though you knew each other.. the world is small. thank you for the video and the knowledge ...great content
Nice! I’ve watched a couple of your videos. I’ve been thinking about getting one of them... can’t decide on the workhorse or the Primitive Pit version.
@@WeekendWarriorBBQ different pits(size) same maker. I m very happy with WH.excellent machine, can't speak on primitive pits though since I've never seen one.
I watched this video a week ago, and didn’t even make it through all the way. I went over to OWB’s channel, and got lost down the rabbit hole of his videos, and now I’m like, “I want to start a firewood business!” I spent every summer and fall doing firewood as a kid, and I hated it, but as an adult, Joe is right, it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. I came to your channel, because I am very interested in cooking barbecue, and open fire pit direct cooking. Turns out I’m probably just as interested in the art of procuring and producing perfect splits of quality firewood. And for some reason, I can watch Joe’s videos all day. There’s something very ASMR satisfying about watching a powered wood splitter just going and going! Lmao!
Great video, this info was helpful. I have been studying wood smokers trying to make up my mind which one, never gave much thought about wood tell now.
We've added you to our subscriptions & looking forward to seeing your videos. Ohio Wood Burner is a great channel. We love it, & if Joe says you're good, we're subscribers!!
Thank you, Brian! That video is in the works. Stay tuned. You can also check out his channel and see his wood yard and how he processes all of the firewood. It is really interesting.
I’m new to smoking and just trying to get started. Do you use the wood with the bark on or do you need to remove it? and can you use the smaller limbs that are usually discarded?
Thanks so much for having us out at your place for some good BBQ and a nice discussion about good firewood! It was a great day! Joe
Yes that was a very nice video how far Mr Joe do your company deliver

@@WeekendWarriorBBQ I pruned some branches and want to know if I can use this for smoking. They are willow, crepe myrtle and native Tx tree.

Here from OWB! What’s your opinion smoking with hedge apple? (aka osage orange)
Great video!!
Thank you, Mark!
That was very interesting piece of information, which was nicely explained, thank you,
Thank you, Ebele. We are planning out a follow-up video at Joe’s wood yard later this summer. It’s going to deliver even more valuable content.
Joe knows wood .
Awesome video thanks for the knowledge
Thank you, Gannon!
Great video. New to grilling. Does it make sense to use wood to flavor veggies on a grill? Thanks!
Thanks you guys this was very helpful, I love to cook with wood on my grill,
You’re welcome Ronald
Interesting video. Would love to see you visit this guys lumber yard on a follow up video.

Awesome video. As Joe would say. "I Hope you guys have 👍 a great day👍".
Thank you!
I have oak logs I cut down 4-5 years ago and stacked are they good for fire wood to cook over, I'm going to cut and split soon?
Were would you rate LIVE OAK WOOD FOR SMOKING MEATS?
great content, this.
Joe knows his wood
Yes he does! He is a great guy and very knowledgeable.
How many pieces would you say in half cord?
I got bunch of split sycomore firewood its dry can it be used for smoking and or grilling
That's all the best for cooking and smoking
Joe knows wood 🪵🪵🪓🪓🪓
can you grill with tuip poplar firewood
I’m new to smoking and just trying to get started. Do you use the wood with the bark on or do you need to remove it? and can you use the smaller limbs that are usually discarded?
Some people like to remove the bark but I leave it on. The smaller limbs will burn up pretty quick so I typically use those to start the fire.
How do you buy from him?
Great video...loved the interaction. Found my way here from Joe's channel. Just subscribed, can't wait to check out your content.
Thank you, DJ!
Just curious how much did that cost?
At that time is was about $300 delivered. Probably a little more expensive than usual but he is driving more than an hour to get here.
Why did you move from chunks to full splits?
It is much less expensive to run my offset with splits compared to charcoal and chunks.
👍
Cedar no one mentions cedar why is that?
Nothing better than cooking over some great wood 🪵 I prefer that over charcoal any day. Great information on firewood.
Thank you, Kenny!
Just curious, do you still have the text community?
Hi, Mike. No I dont. It got to the point where I just couldn't keep up with the all of the texts.
Well to answer the question to cover or not is quite simple. Dry wood burns. Wet wood doesn't.
Red oak should only take 3 to 6 months to be ready
If you can get your hands on some white ash buy it . The best.
Great for barbecueing.
I will only pay attention to this guy if those Aviators are legit Rochester Bosch and Lomb otherwise game over.
There is a legal definition of a cord: 4ft x 4ft x 8ft. There is NO legal of a rick. That is where people cheat.
I don’t buy fire wood I just cut trees for a living ha
Red oak 🪵 is expensive
great topic...learned a lot. Thanks!
