Are you using short nails or staples to put the shingles right on the tongue and groove ceiling?

Why are you making cuts when it's a kit?

Good question. When we ship out a kit, we always leave the posts long so that they can be cut on-site to ensure the pavilion is level and the desired ceiling height is obtained. That way, if a pier or two are a little out of level (for example: one pier is higher than the other four) the pavilion can still be built to spec by adjusting the post height on-site.
