    I'm building the exact same benches and using your video as a guide. Big thanks for the post!

      @@EventheWavesYT I have the benches built but haven't cut the openings yet. Curious if you have preferred the side that had the big opening or the side that had the smaller opening? Also I am considering not painting and using laminate for protection. Have you noticed scuff marks from feet on the paint? Lots of people paint anyway for water proofing. Thoughts? Thanks!!

      @NorthwestLights206 So I have the smaller ones on one side and a larger opening on the other. To be honest I don’t like getting into either one of them. My cushions are really heavy and it’s just mildly inconvenient. But what I have noticed is I will put larger items big tents and longer things that I may not use on my trips as frequently and try to open them as little as possible. I use my rear piano hinged doors everyday though. 🤙🏼
      I painted because well it was cheap and the wife wanted white. lol

      @@EventheWavesYTthanks! I opted to not add the rear doors, east to add though since I haven't finished it... Maybe I will take that into consideration (for sliding skis in for example).
      What cushions did you go with? I feel like that is one of my biggest questions. Anything you would change about them? I can build all day but picking cushions is something I'm new too. Water resistant material and firm padding is what I think we are looking for. Yours look a bit thick for me.

      @EventheWavesYT  7 месяцев назад

      My cushions are way too thick buddy! I would slim it down to 2” medium density foam and 2” of memory foam. I bought the bed version of the foam and then gave them to an upholstery guy and he upholstered them in a fabric I bought from Krypton. I can make a full video on it if you have a specific question you want answered.

    Thanks for sharing this, It’s almost exactly what I’ve been wanting to build in the van we just bought. Yours is the first I’ve seen like this (separate beds) on youtube. Only difference I have in mind is the back half section under the beds I’d like to have as a pull out drawer at the back doors with lift up access on the front half. Ours is a Ford econoline extended van so we have even less room but I think the width is near the same. Bunk beds across the rear might maximize space but I’m not sure if it will work for my husband’s height. It’s currently in the shop getting its first check up. We also have two large dogs that will travel with us! 😉

      So glad you watched it! Love the Ford E Series vans! So classic. Your design sounds rad! Let me know what you end up doing. 🤙🏼🤙🏼enjoy the build

    Thanks

      They ended up being 15 1/4”… if you are not tall I would strongly suggest 3 inches of cushion not 5” like we did. Luckily we are all tall in our family!

    These came out looking great! Nice tutorial man. Do you remember the dimensions of the doors you made with the 2x3 studs? I see some have 11.5 written on them but I cant properly make out the rest.

    • @EventheWavesYT
      @EventheWavesYT  3 года назад +1

      Hey Corey! I’ll have to take some measurements for you, I honestly can’t remember! I marked the center of the van with tape then measured 1’ on each side. Then measured off that. I’ll measure and get back to ya! 🤙🏼

    Thanks of the video. Somewhat unrelated, I noticed you've installed the DCC50s solar charger in your electrical system. Have you had to deal with any issues with excessive boost charging/not entering float mode? Does the charger's battery indicator light switch from green back to orange when you start discharging a full battery?

    • @EventheWavesYT
      @EventheWavesYT  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching! As far as my solar charge controller I know some people have had issues with it. Every time I discharge from my batteries if it is day they will start charging right away. Also when the batteries are full it does go into float mode and trickle charge my starting battery. They only downside I see with this system is that renogy separated the max amount of amperage from solar and alternator power. Basically I can’t pull 50a at one time from one source. I can max pull 25 from solar and 25 from alternator. Hope this helps! 🤙🏼

      @@EventheWavesYTThanks for the step by step tutorial. What was the height of your bench?

    • @EventheWavesYT
      @EventheWavesYT  3 года назад

      Hey Paul! Thanks for the feedback! My bench height is 15 1/4” from my flooring the the top of the wood. We did 5 inch cushions and If I were to do it over i would do 3” cushions. Good thing my family is tall! Hope this helps!

    • @paulchea3842
      @paulchea3842 3 года назад

      @@EventheWavesYT Thanks for the quick reply Brad. I am looking at 15" height also and 5" cushion but now might take your advice and go with 3" cushion. I don't have much experience with woodworking so we'll see how it goes...lol.

    • @EventheWavesYT
      @EventheWavesYT  3 года назад

      No worries! If you do 15” you could probably get away with a 4” cushion. 2” medium density and 2” memory foam! You got this! Create what you love! It will come out great!

      @@EventheWavesYT perfect thank you for the reply!!! I can't go that long, maybe 79 or so, but I also didn't want them TOO wide so 22 should be perfect IF I had to sleep on it...and yours looks awesome by the way!😊

      @JoyinFlorida 2 года назад

      @@EventheWavesYT haha well I'm stoked that you made It!!!😉Actually I'm about to go through all your videos to see if you did one on flooring? I used reflectix pieced between the ridges then put the plywood and rubber down but I don't like It, so, out it comes LOL. I KNOW I need a better insulation under the plywood? THEN I may put down some hardwood flooring that I have left over from the house?🤞😊
