Hi Jill…I have been a human hair topper wearer for 7 years and have several , and yes I have to prepare my bio hair depending on which topper I am wearing , simply because some human hair toppers have slightly different textures depending on what country the hair is from , but that’s a whole other story … Great Video !

I miss the walk & talk but this was informative & enjoyable. I have autoimmune issues & started weariing a full wig about three yrs ago but rather quickly realized I could only do toppers - cooler, and not as itchy. When I work I wear a topper ... but really wish it was not necessary. But so glad they are there ! It has been so sad for me losing most of my beautiful hair. Oh dear... Love you.

I wear toppers exclusively. Jon Renau Smart Wave 18" is high density, I don't have the problem of separation in the back. In fact, I had to thin it. It's synthetic, not heat friendly. Highly recommend.

Hi Jill yey a topper chat! I love toppers the difference in the colour is quite surprising. I've only bought Remy human hair toppers I didn't realise they are warmer than heat friendly to wear. I'm like you styling isn't a problem although some of mine are curly and still curly after washing. Are you going to put some face framing layers in the human hair topper? Great video looking forward to the next 💝

I think you've mentioned this in later videos, but heat-friendly synthetic fibers REQUIRE HEAT to maintain them. When the fibers get clumpy or frizzy, especially on the ends, a flat iron under 350° can be slid down the shaft and will 'melt' the fibers back to being smooth! I have an HD wig that's 5 years old and still going strong! So they can rival HH longevity. I've used HH toppers for years but am tiring of all the maintenance so am going to get more HD toppers. I'm a natural light cool blonde, and the HH toppers just don't get to the right shade either, as do HD fibers.
I have Top Billing, 12", synthetic and I do like it. But, I prefer wigs now, even in hot weather. I simply wear the longer ones in a ponytail or the shorter (shoulder length). I am concentrating on my human hair collection these days. I have a ton of good synthetics and take care of them. I have some Jon Renau pieces that are ten years old and still look and feel great. One thing I have not done with my human hair wigs (and the few HH toppers) is condition them with heat protectant. Do you have one you would recommend? I would appreciate a suggestion. Very helpful information, thanks Jill. I used to always wear HH toppers but have added synthetics recently. They are cooler than HH with silk top HH being the hottest IMO! One thing you may touch on in Part 2 is color fade. I don't know anything about blonde colors but I wear medium brown and HH color definitely fades over time. I have to recolor mine after about a year of regular wear. I also love the highlights and color dimension/options synthetics offer. Sherry
Such a great point! I haven't a lot of "wear" experience with HH, and that is something I never thought of, BUT makes sense!
My human hair topper in medium brown has faded a bit what do you use to colour it? Also have you tried to lighten the brown a little? 💖
@Clara-wo1hg You could try a semi permanent if you're worried but I use a demi permanent. I specifically use Ion (Sally's Beauty brand). However Ion shades end up very dark and toppers have been so processed they grab color big time. So to get medium brown I get a medium BLONDE shade. You may only need to leave it on for 15 minutes. It will eventually wash out and fade gradually. You do risk coloring the lace too and can put oil on the underside of the cap before you color but I just don't worry about it, I don't notice it. On colored hair toppers and my own hair that gets too dark sometimes, I've used Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) powder bought on Amazon mixed with dandruff shampoo. Put the paste on the hair, place them in a plastic bag in the sun for 15 minutes to an hour. You can watch the color lighten and rinse it out when it looks good to you. This has worked great for me. I have one virgin topper (never colored) which was too dark and dull for me and I used a bleach frost kit to paint some light brown highlights in it. Turned out well. I've always heard NOT to bleach previously colored human hair so I never have. Hope that helps and good luck!Sherry

I bought the top billing topper and love it so much - it’s really beautiful - but I’m returning it because my hair is too short in the back so it doesn’t cover it enough. Can someone please tell me what the full wig equivalent would be of the top billing topper? Thanks!

Human hair you can color it if needed correct?
Hi Jill, I'm in the synthetic group. My problem is i can't get my color in RW toppers ( Ice Granita) I'm gray and i don't want to color my hair anymore. I love toppers, probably more so than wigs, but it's the color challenge for me. Can't wait to see how you style these pretty toppers, great video, great info. Have a great rest of your weekend!! That is hard. Remember though....it doesn't have to match perfectly.
I did some research on gray toppers for when I finally decide to embrace my new natural color ;) They are harder to find. I did discover Godiva's Secret and Uniwigs have some gray toppers now. They tend to be salt and pepper but there are some lighter gray shades. Sherry
Yes, color is everything! It varies within the companies: curly vs straight styles, wig vs topper all play into that (frustrating) reality.
I just have to say I have yet to receive a synthetic hair topper that looks as pretty in color as this one does online. I've ordered the top billing in shaded biscuit and the color I got was way too dark. I was expecting a color like yours how can there be such a drastic difference. I've ordered from several different companies and have returned every single one because of the unnatural color in fact I have never seen any color in real life that looks like the ones I get. I can't believe no one ever posts anything about the colors. How can I be the only one that says anything about this. I don't know if you can address this issue of color on the blonde shades or not. I wish more people would talk more about the blonde shades.

Whats your advice, I want to buy the Top billing 18" topper. choosing the color is almost impossible.. how can I narrow it done? where do you buy your pieces
You can always find all the information you need (including links to take you directly to the hair I am featuring) down below in the description area of the video. As for color....that is indeed challenging. What I have always done, is go to the wig or topper I am interested in (which my link will take you to where I shop) and then look at the colors that it is available in...then I search for that color on RUclips. I watch every single video it is shown ...no matter what style it is. This gives me a better idea of what the colors I am interested in look like. It isn't 100% full-proof however, because of lighting, your settings on the device you are watching on...etc.
How come they don’t make a band or something you can attach the topper , so it doesn’t pull your bio hair out. ? This color is pretty on you!
I’m looking for a hairpiece we used to call a “fall” or a postisch My spelling may not be correct for this word. The hairpiece would snap in on the crown, it would cover the crown and maybe fall to the shoulders or shorter. I don’t wear my hair long anymore. I’m trying to find A hairpiece that would just fit on the crown of my head and would have some curl to it.

It is NOT. Those are scams. They steal my content and make it seem like what they are selling is that particular piece I am showing....sadly it is NOT...they are crappy, cheap pieces.
How do i go about finding the right shade? I feel like my hair is a odd shade.
Don't feel like you have to match a topper perfectly. I think People get hung up on that. You CAN get a ring of color samples usually from the brand you are looking at. They aren't the greatest, because you don't get a big enough swatch to get a good tell, but it is better than nothing.

Uh-Oh… new wig & topper wearer here… does that mean my synthetic el-cheap-o $8-$11 ones from Temu are going to look like crap pretty soon? 😂
Just teasing myself, I didn’t have high expectations for them at all. But I was loosing hair so fast, that I had to act fast and affordable, so I did get sucked into the only way I could get a few to see which direction (style, length & color wise) I wanted to go.
I was starting to look like these smiling (& frowning mostly) emojis here. 😏
My Top Billing topper was beautiful for a few months until it started to seriously frizz and that was pretty much the end of it.
It's heat friendly....have you used some heat on it? If treated with some type of revitalizer and some heat from whatever you are using can really smooth those fibers, and revive it. I recommend always using a heat protectant too!

Not sure why anyone would want a human hair wig or topper....love the convenience of slapping on my synthetic pieces and I'm out the door. Not to mention the cost...no thanks
Where do find your synthetic ones?
Well if you have thin hair then you'd need a wig or a topper. Some people just like the feeling of wigs and toppers. MyselfczI hate the feeling of a wig but a topper is just perfect for a little more thickness. Also human hair can be died to match your hair color where synthetic only comes in limited colors that are hard to match to your own hair.
Synthetic ones come in more beautiful colors and the styling doesn't get washed out after a shampoo. But after only a couple months or so, they start to get stiff and straw-like. Need to buy a new one which makes it very expensive. Human hair will last a long time.

I am my own woman, and always have been…. I don’t care what my husband thinks. With that said, I have been married for 36 years to a man who has always supported me, and who thinks I am beautiful with hair or without. He also knows I do this to help those looking for options so they perhaps can let go of feeling stress over losing their hair due to cancer treatments, aging, PCOS, and many other reasons. My goal is to normalize wig wearing no matter the reason. I may be 58 but I was raised to be my own person, and not here on this planet to appease any man and whatever insecurities they may have.
