This Could Change Everything For Your Resin Projects
Warning: Important Health and Safety Notice:
Resin is an industrial chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken. Here is a video I have made on how I keep myself safe: • Stop Making Yourself I... Хобби
To fix the issue of the tattoos with writing being backwards, just do it in reverse order. Pour the background first, put the tattoos on that, then pour the clear over the top.
I think your amazing 👏 😉 💖 I starting watching you like year ago but I can't do resin for money issues personal problems but I still love love to watch you and I'm gonna join ❤️ ♥️ 😊🎉🎉🎉 I love the tattoos ideas 💡 for the grandkids n kids ❤❤❤❤
Agh! My secret is out! Lol. I had been saving some special (to me) temp tattoos in my jewelry box for the last 30 years and not wanting to use them because then they’d be gone. Then last year I started resin art and I thought 💡 Ding ding ding! I can embed them in resin and keep the pretty images forever! Of course I bought some other ones to practice with first, and now I’m obsessed! My favourite thing to do.
I really loved that notebook cover, didn't it come out well! You're my favourite resiner Steve. There are lots of resin heads in RUclips land, but none like you Steve. You show the whole process including errors and I really love that! You're the best! Have a fantastic day. God bless you and yours Steve.
"Resin heads!* 😅😅😅 Love it!
@abraKvavra thank you for that, I’d had forgotten about that. Awesome 😎
I love how you looked at the bright side immediately. This one fits better. Good on you.
I do love how the book cover came out, even the "mistake" just gave it more character. With black & translucent tattoos like the tiger one, you could also try painting on top of areas of the tattoo after it's dry (with actual paint or mixing a bit of gloss medium/clear glue with pigments to make a paint, maybe some glow-in-the-dark powder/paint, or using colored UV resin if you don't want to wait long for dry times) before filling in the background resin color. That way you can customize it even more!
Using temporary tattoos is actually pretty common among resin artists. I often see the people who cover tumblers with resin use them, especially the "full sleeve" tattoos since those are generally big enough to cover both sides of a tumbler with a consistent design that isn't identical (when cut approximately in half). Those kind of tattoos might also work well for your book covers so keep an eye out for them.
the Lion book cover is flippin amazipants. I have an idea to make a book cover with a guitar in it for my husband. I've never tried resin before but always wanted to. thankyou for sharing your ideas
You can also transfer them to clear transparency paper, then trim the paper down to just around the edges of the tattoo and sink it in resin. This gives you a little more control over placement, if you are making something very fiddly. If you do multiple resin layers, you can also give the piece more depth.
I love using temp tattoos in resin. I've been doing that (and using nail art) for quite awhile now. Stickers too! BTW, the one you messed up and the tattoo stuck to the clear film.... you can still use that one. Just put it in the mold with the clear film on and pour your resin carefully to not trap air bubbles under the film.
I was wondering about that! Thanks for the advice. ❤
I’ve had loads of fun doing these. What out for dark colours if you use colours. I found a thin layer of clear resin stops it wearing off 👍👍👍👍👍. I’m glad you’ve done this. Nice one 👍👍👍
The stickers look 3D especially on the coaster. ❤
Never would have thought of tattoos. Thank you.
WHY did I find this video right after I threw out so many old temporary tattoos 😩😩😩 they'd make amazing resin keychains
I was impressed because I was thinking even if the tattoo dod stay in the resin the side near the silicone would rub off once you removed it. But it didn't! Amazing
Great job, am a beginner in the resin art world but have been learning a lot. Thank you 🎉
Looks like he took a bite out of it. It's awesome!
The tattoos look great… except for the ones with words..l they are in mirror image… but the pictures or the avatars are phenomenal l.. and I love love love that tiger for the notebook!!! Beautiful!!!!!
so often i’ll click on a video not paying attention to who posted it and be like “oh yeah this looks awesome” then almost every time i’m soon to realize it’s my dude Steve McDonald! GREAT videos! imo you’re the best in resin tutorials and you’re so informative and give it to us real, the good, bad and ugly. very helpful and fun to watch content, i learn a lot here. THANKS!!!
OMG ... I can"t believe you never did this before .... I have been using them forever ....dab i with a damp cloth don''t spray it .... prevents more bubbles and if there is a bubble smooth it carefully with a damp cloth ... just remember they are sticky so the will need a top coat if applied on the top of the resin .... these turned out great ❤️
I'm so happy you show everything. I would like to see what you do with the one that gotessed up
Really love the notebook the tattoo idea brilliant
I love using waterslide decals in resin, even went as far as printing my own, it's a bit addictive lol x
I have done this both with the tattoo directly on the siliconmold and with a thin layer of resin poured first (left to cure) and both ways worked fine. 🤩
Love this notebook idea, and the tattoos!
Love the notebook cover, it’s absolutely beautiful!!
I did something very similar using waterslide paper which works the same way as the tattoos but you can print your own designs on them.
I love watching you Steve you show us everything good bad and mistakes. This I feel is why you have such a good following of people, you are the real deal regardless of what the dado’s say.
Love the book cover gold backing set the picture off fantastic and I’m sure Alice will love her sign, thank you for showing us
This video is so tremendously helpful for me, I have a collection of temporary tattoos I've saved from various events and such over the years. They're a really unique souvenir when they have custom ones done for an event and they're small. I will use this technique to turn a lot of my stash into little resin magnets and pins so I can enjoy them permanently!
I love these. I use small flower and butterfly tattoos on pens that I make. The possibilities really are endless!
That was extremely Awesome Steve Mcdonald
I used them a few years ago, but I adhered the tattoos to waterproof paper, that I then covered with HD packing tape (they were really small bits). Loved the way some of them came out, but I really love your method! These look awesome!
Omg!!! Gorgeous!!! Love love love your work Steve!! Going to get some tattoo today!!
I like the book the corner look like a bite mark. So cool.
Thanks for the tutorial. I recently bought (what I call decals) butterflies for a Clay project but I love the way they worked on the surface of silicone and the surface of your hardened resin! This gives me a whole new way to use them! (50 years ago I pretended they were tattoos on my arm… so glad they weren’t 😊.)
Love this so much. Today is 5-03-23. I just joined you, and I'm happy I did.
Love the tattoos especially love the notebook!!!!
I’ve collected some nice tattoos, never really sure what to do with them. Now I know! Very nice!!
Awesome results. Love to see what you manage to do with the tiger.
I've done these in resin a few times but I started out putting small ones on little jewelry boxes and such. Even pendants with small ones look really nice.
I have used tattoos in place of like a rub on transfer on wood, but I never thought about resin and that makes me excited I have some REALLY neat ones 🫶
I LOVE IT!! I just ordered some to try for myself!! Thank you!!!
I just did this! My daughter likes dream catchers and owls so I made her a custom night light and I haven't given it to her yet but it's my best piece ever. I got the temp tattoos just hoping it would work and it really does work amazingly well with a little patience. You can get such a strong 3D look with this method!
Excellent! Love the notebook cover with the gold. I love the fact that you leave your mistakes in your videos. It shows that you are human like the rest of us and shows us what NOT to do! I would love to see what you will do with that gorgeous tiger tattoo! Thanks again for all your tutorials. 💜🎨
The return of the "decals on the fridge" of the 1960s ! I live it. Thank you very much.
Fantastic! I’ve been using nail decals for some of resin jewellery. They are applied the same way and look great.
Thank you doing this. I have been wanting to get it done before. Thank you, Thank you!
Thank you. I have been using temp tattoos for a while with resin but have not tried to put them directly on the mold. Thank you again!!!
Great ideas! The notebook is awesome and the door hanger is awesome to. I have done some roses that I colored with gel pens and I modged podged it and when it dried I resigned over it and it looked great and it was glittery. I will put your ideas to go use. Keep on thinking of things to try!!!
Wow I Absolutely Love That! That Is So Cool! Thank You For Sharing! 🤝
Very cool idea! Forgetting to take off the plastic film really resonated with me. Exactly what I would do. The final results were really great!
OMG Steve. I did the same thing on the weekend with a tattoo application. Forgot to take of the plastic film and it stuck to it and wouldn’t come off. Just had to start again. Love the projects you did. Turned out amazing.
Kia ora from Aotearoa (New Zealand) Oh my good'a'ness I love you, you are so funny & you make my day with your awesome "Carry on if you make a mistake" attitude. You really help me out when I'm having a bit of a depressed day, so thank you for being you 🤩🥰😍 Oh & I love your idea, me & my daughter are definitely going to make these 🙃🙂
Love these great idea for my grandsons. X
Steve, you have inspired me to do resin work and abstract painting. Thank-you so much.
OH MY GOSH!!! That book cover is exceptional. I am going to do that for my Grand daughters they both are writers in the making.
WOWWOWOW!! Those are so cool! Love them, well done.
Wow Steve what a wonderful idea. They all turned out beautiful. Absolutely love the notebook cover, it’s gorgeous! Thank you so much for generously sharing your wonderful creations with us! It’s so appreciated. ❌🥰☘️
Great job..I really like the notebook cover❤
I did a pendant with those just to test it and I loved how it came out.
Great idea to use the tattoos.
That's awesome! They turned out so well!!!
I use temp tattoos, and they are a great tool to augment my pieces. I find adding a thin layer of resin, usually UV, over the tattoo helps to ensure that it won't rub off on fingers. I also just ordered the molds for the notebooks, so it was cool to see it in use.
The note pad is so awesome!, my daughter just graduated from college, this will be awesome to make her a notebook with her colors and emblem in it! Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the idea of using temporary tattoos!
These Came Out Really Great 👍 However I Am Curious If You Did A Layer Let It Cured Then Add The Transfer And Then A Final Coat Of Resin Even Different Colors And Layers That Would Be Fun!!!!
beautiful, I'm definitely trying this, thx for sharing
All's well that ends well.... This certainly ends well 😃!! The door plack is a wonderful idea for the child/children in anyone's life. I'm making some as soon as I get back from the store.... No tats right now! Must pick up some while I'm shopping.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF THE MOTHER'S.
Stay safe, you do you, and stay crafty 👍👍🛎️🔔🛎️🔔🦋🦋
Love the notebook cover. This inspires me to try one! Thank you, Steve!
I've used the tattoos quite a few times, they always come out so nice x
I'd never have thought of this, what a superb idea! I love the book cover especially, but I bet your niece will love that door sign. 💗
Love the book cover mold! Another thing to add to my resin crafting to sell this summer!
GORGEOUS! Can't wait to try!
Love the notebook.
I love the beautiful mistake it looks like the tiger tried to take a bite of it. Love it
They turned out great! I haven't tried tattoos but I have made tiny earrings using nail transfers which work exactly the same.
I enjoy your videos. With mistakes and not being edited. I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you
they turned out great!! I'm gonna look into tattoos now!
Those really have turned out well.
Beautiful, the three d effect on the coaster and the plaque is great. I love the "Tiger chop" effect on the corner of the notebook too!
Wowzers!!!! Steve, you genius you!!!! What I really like about the tattoos is they have no background, as opposed to many stickers with white backgrounds!!!!
I love the 3d effect with the Hulk coaster!!! So cool!!
Wow! Such a great idea! I can’t wait to try this! Thank you!!
Genius!! I love your work and all your Awesome ideas!
Wonderful projects, thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge! I really love the Tiger book cover!
I have forgotten to take the plastic off before too. But you can still use it. The plastic is clear and will disappear in the resin. I love using tattoos in my resin pieces.
I've been using tattoos on resin tumblers and they turns out fantastic. I believe my first one was a Nightmare before Christmas glow in the dark one and it turned out fantastic!!
Great new way to use resin!
Love the book cover, absolutely beautiful 😻
The door plate would be awesome on my son’s door. Once again you have given me some really good ideas
I love how these have turned out! I recently bought some temporary tattoos because I liked them, but I didn't know what to do with them. You have now made my job easier by giving me a solution! Thank you Steve 😊!! One question is would I put the background color on the underside so that the tattoo is facing the right way round?
You can actually use the tattoo while stuck to the transparency sheet. I sometimes use it that way purposely depending on how small or flimsy the piece.
Steve, I did the exact same thing when I started using temp tattoos in resin and on tumblers, left the plastic sheet on, it was also a tiger piece
Another very good class for me. Thanks I am learning so much.
Very nice idea. I have never used this, but I definitely will try it.
I did make necklaces with 3d stickers of Marvel and Frozen. That also gives a nice depth. The stickers are around 1,5 or 2 mm thick. They also work very well with a glitter background 🤩
I totally love this ..I will do this ..thank you
Omg, Steve thank you so much for trying this and sharing it with us. I have so many of those tattoos and can't wait to try this. I always forget to take off the plastic shield first and my granddaughter like grandma you did it wrong. lol. Thank you so much.
Love this, cannot wait to try it!
Awesome! I'm excited to see such a cool idea come to life! I love experimenting 😊
Those came out great, love them all. ❤
Great video! Can't wait to try these!
Absolutely fabulous!!! ❤
So glad you did this tutorial because I've been thinking about doing this for while. So now I can do it right!
You're the bomb 💣 Steve.
Guess you’re a fast learner
Steve I love the notebook. The gold only makes the lion more true to life. The Marvel coaster and sign, brilliant. Keep up the great creations.
Steve those were adorable!!!
