Cycle between p770 3i w/ Axiom 105X, Srixon ZX MKII 2i w/ Ventus Black 9TX, and TSR3 5w w/ Ventus Black TR 8X… course/conditions dependent 😅… never a hybrid (hate high and left biases)
I have the Srixon ZX MKII 20 degree utility and the TaylorMade M2 7W HL 24 degree fairway wood. Great versatility!
I play a 3 hybrid Titleist. I love the driving irons. I'm just not consistent enough to play it. Years ago I carried a 2 iron blade and used it quite a bit off the tee. I can flight my hybrid but generally don't try to. I like the forgiveness and it's wicked easy to hit.
Rotate 7 wood, 4 hybrid and fli-hi 4 iron between 5 iron and 4 wood Andrew. Space for 2 of them. For links or high winds then the 7 wood comes out. Typically winter golf the 4 fli-hi comes out and tight courses in summer the hybrid makes way. That UW is a very interesting club…
I have the 19° UW and it’s a work horse in the bag. I have a 18° UT and a 17° UW on the way to mess around with. Your insights on the UW are spot in my experience.
I play G425 5 hybrid and a G430 7 & 9 wood. Used to have a 4 hybrid but that 9 wood is so easy to just hit high and straight. My hcp floats between 6-8.
I cannot hit woods I don’t know what my problem is. I would be putting the UT in the bag
I agree with your last point wholeheartedly. I’m a retired college golfer and now when I’m playing just for fun on the weekends, I’ll just smash driver everywhere and hardly would have the use for a driving iron off the tee. In more competitive rounds, I’d gravitate towards the utility iron though

I play the last version of the uw in a 17 degree. I play a strong 3 wood, and the uw removed a driving iron from my bag permanently.
I was looking at a similar situation only it was 5 wood vs Uw vs traditional hybrid. From my testing, the UW in a 19 degree crept up a little too much with my 3w so I am thinking of going with a 21 degree. Big factor for me was launch. Need a club that gets up high and spins so I can hold greens. The UW and 5 wood definitely fit that but I felt I got a better results from the rough with the UW.
Yeah the 21° UW sounds like the perfect match for you!
I’ve had the Cally XForged UT in the bag for a long time. When I lived in a windy area it was great to keep the ball out of the wind. As my swing speed has slowed down I’ve gone more towards the Cally HeavenWood. For years I thought the HW was a gimmick but it is my go to for a lot of shots.
I’ve got the original UW in 17 and 21 degrees. Love them.
How far do you hit each of them? I really can't decide between the 19 and 21 degree. Thank you.
