Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July.
One Magic Christmas
If I remember correctly, Klaus lost an Oscar to Toy Story 4. It is very unfortunate because Klaus is a marvelous 2D animated Christmas feature and deserves so much praise and appreciation! One of my absolute favorite holiday traditions, period!
No crap! Disney’s only excuse for Pixar to create yet another unnecessary sequel nobody asked was because they couldn’t stomach a NON-Disney movie winning that award. I wanted The Hidden World to win!
Agreed!
Toy Story 4 sucks
@@JSChronicle489 People only watched that cash-grab because Disney keeps giving them Stockholm Syndrome.
@@ma3mc3mu-X I didn't think TS 4 was needed
"Klaus" really hits you in the feels. It's such a charming story about 🎅 with a traditional artstyle.....
IKR? Plus, it’s a 2D animated movie, which is unfortunately rarely seen nowadays.
@@SpacialRend7 True.
Indeed.
My favorite Christmas movie is "The Lion in Winter." That probably says something unfortunate about my mental health, but I love it. I love watching Hepburn & O'Toole's verbal sparring. I love watching the sons lash out at their parents and each other. The conniving, scheming, & squabbling, all with razor sharp wit is so so good
I agree with your comment.
Awesome movie! It's the embodiment of the term Machiavellian.
so so good. I was priviledged to work in a west end theatre when this was on stage over christmas. AMAZING!! Starring Robert Lindsay and Joanna Lumley back in 2012. The film is epic!!!
@@paulsmith3994 WOW that is amazing! What a privilege!
I loved Klaus the first time I saw it. And I instantly made it a must-watch for every Christmas Eve
Can you even buy it anywhere on Blu-ray/DVD, etc?
I absolutely ADORE The Man Who Invented Christmas. As someone who holds A Christmas Carol extremely close to my heart, the movie is just amazing!
It’s also refreshing to have A Christmas Carol film that focuses on the writing and development of the story by Charles Dickens and the emotional trauma that comes with it in an age when there are some many A Christmas Carol adaptations.
Better than Finding Neverland, in my opinion.
Anyone else remembers Olive the Other Reindeer, The Legend of Frosty the Snowman, & Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer?
I remember all those titles. I watch Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer every December.
I remember those
And the Polar express
I remember watching these specials every year on Cartoon Network, back when the channel went all out for the holidays. Such good memories.
Awesome movies from my childhood

Klaus is the Christmas movie that needs to more love!❤️
White Christmas is popular & well-known, so how can it be underrated?
Last Christmas is awful. It's a drama rather than the romcom it's claimed to be. The protagonist supposedly moved to the UK with her family after 1999 to escape a war that ended in 1995. We're supposed to believe that she works year-round in a shop that only sells Christmas decorations. The film is supposed to be feel-good but the twist towards the end is feel-bad.
I agree with most of the choices, except white Christmas, it’s very well known and often considered one of the best holiday films!!
Klaus is an underrated classic and absolutely GORGEOUS! Another option that should've been here was Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.
Jingle Jangle was such a cute movie, I really enjoy watching it
@@ceciwynne4154: Yeah I love that Christmas movie! It’s beautiful
I love those new Christmas movies
Watching White Christmas every year is a tradition started with my mum when I was a kid. It's so special to me and I never miss our annual viewing.
I used to watch it with my dad growing up, it was his favorite and has also become mine. I watch it multiple times before Christmas and always watch it, no matter how late, on Christmas eve. A true classic!
It's been a Christmas Eve tradition for my family since I was a kid. It's a favourite of mine, to this day.
Yeah, we always start the holiday movies with White Christmas.
When I was a little girl, my go-to Christmas movies were always Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Barbie: A Christmas Carol and A Charlie Brown Christmas. As I got older, I would watch Christmas movies like Home Alone and Elf.
Gosh, Same here I look forward to Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer And The Little Drummer Boy. ❤️
I still watch A Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer at Christmas.
If there is one Christmas special that deserved to be on this list, it's "A Muppet Family Christmas". It is a wonderful special where all the muppets - including Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock - comes together and celebrate Christmas. Sadly it has not gotten a proper DVD release, but it deserves it!
it's also one of many 80s tv specials not on Disney+, which sucks. I watch it on youtube every year.
It Happened on Fifth Avenue is a fun and heartwarming movie. It takes place shortly after WWII, when a “hobo” moves into a Fifth Avenue mansion while it’s owners are down south. He invites a veteran, who then invites his friends. The daughter of the owner shows up unexpectedly, but instead of ratting them out, she pretends not to be rich and tries to fit in as she falls in love with the veteran. Sweet and funny!
Is the "hobo" Santa?
I really liked it but it is an older film so it had some outdated bits that took me aback. Still, a fun movie.
We already watched It Happened.. it is one of the first we watch every season❤
The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant is hardly ever talked about, but it is a sweet Christmas story with lots of Christmas tropes- a hectic Christmas season, people putting wealth and status before servanthood, and, of course, a Christmas angel. I would love to see it remade today.
I just watched this movie today and it’s definitely going to be in the yearly rotation for us for Christmastime 😊
one of my faves
there is a remake with denzel washington and whitney houston called the preachers wife
Stick with the original!
I watch this every year. I love this movie.
Klaus is a amazing film, one of the very few Christmas films I've watched that has made me cry
I love how MY big man JK Simmons plays Klaus first he played Tenzin from TLOK and then Ford Pines from Gravity Falls and here he is playing Klaus in this Film.
I love Klaus!
The movie and animation felt so amazing and the characters are too!
The story fell so fresh and original. I really love the film as well 😍
ALSO, I really love the song in the film 'Invisible'. It felt so beautiful
It definitely deserves so much love
Ive watched A White Christmas every year for about 26 years. A true classic.
Klaus is...i cannot put it into words, I will watch that, all year, that song "invisible"....
Angela Lansbury isn’t the only one, Klaus starred the late Norm Macdonald. Rest In Peace
I say the most underrated animated Christmas film is definitely Dreamwork's Rise Of The Guardians.
God, Annabelle's Wish had me in tears as a child. Would be the same today I bet. That movie felt so beautiful and sad at the same time.
Also a well deserved number 1, Klaus is a masterpiece.
Annabelle's Wish is my favorite christmas movie. My spouse surprised me with a copy for christmas a few years back, and I still teared up after all these years :')
I wish that more people spoke about "Arthur Christmas", I watched it recently with my two young cousins, and they really adored it.
Ikr?
I just discovered this one. I loved it!
It's wonderful!
I watched Arthur Christmas when it first came out in theaters. I was in high school at the time
I watched it last year in honor of its 10th anniversary and because of the occasion, I made it the first Christmas film on my Christmas movie viewing marathon.
Putting Klaus #1 made me happy cause its my tradition now watch every Christmas season and hearing Jason Schwartzman voice makes my heart melt. He even said all the grunt noises they saved for the end cause he can loose his voice
Aw man, I remember watching Anabelle's Wish back in daycare. Even when I was that young I could tell it was cheesy, but in that fun late 90s way.
I'm glad you included "Holiday Inn" on this list. I've always liked it more than "White Christmas." It just has a sweeter story and is not as Hollywood as WC.
I didn't see Holiday Inn on this list, just heard it mentioned when talking about White Christmas. Was there a change in the list?
The Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday Special is now my favorite Christmas thing ever!
Haven’t seen it
@@bighand1530 You’ll love it.
@@trasegorsuch5140 If you say so
It’s a nice appetizer before the inevitable gut punching third movie.
I saw it. I liked it
I remember Disney’s A Christmas Carol scared me in theaters. Only the death scene of Christmas Present and those two creepy adult kids but overall, great animation
Mickeys once a pon a Christmas will always be one of my favourites
My autistic son watched this for 2 years straight then it was mickeys twice upon a Christmas for a further 2 years he is now 19 and still I would catch him watching it on Disney +
@@tinarafferty62 🥺🥺 so cute I can’t
1985- Santa Claus- the Movie with David Huddleston, Dudley Moore, Burgess Meredith and John Lithgow. The first act is absolutely magical.
I agree. The entire origin of Santa Claus was awesome. Maybe the most heartfelt version created. Once they jump to the current day the story just got too silly.
Delayed Honourable Mention #11 ("Santa Claus :The Movie")-:("1985") ("♏♏🦂🦂☮☮☯☯").
I have a copy of that movie! I thought that Dudley Moore was absolutely adorable as Patch the elf! Burgess Meredith made an excellent old elf! And John Lithgow really hammed it up as BZ the evil toy maker!
@@melissacooper8724 I Also Have A Copy of It On DVD The ("20th Anniversary Edition") At The Time. ("♏♏🦂🦂☮☮☯☯").
I agree. As an adult I can still appreciate this movie's magical quality. (The novelization is good too.)
I see Klaus, I clicked. Me, my mom and dad love this movie. Watched it in two years ago
The Star (2017) is pretty good and a nice fit for younger kids. It’s an animated flick telling the story of the first Christmas from the viewpoint of the animals in Bethlehem. And there are a lot of big names doing the voice acting too. Among them are Oprah, Gabriel Iglesias, Kristin Chenoweth, Keegan Michael Key, Anthony Anderson, and Kelly Clarkson. And I think some others too I can’t remember right now. 🤔 Good stuff. 👍🏻
My oldest loves The Star! It’s super well done.
I would watch Klaus if it wasn't on Netflix and made it's way to DVD / Blu-ray
The man who invented Christmas is a really good movie. It should be played more.
Arthur Christmas and Klaus were SNUBBED by the Academy. Those two are my favorite christmas films.
So happy to see A Christmas Carol 2009 in here. It's been a staple for me every year. I love how close to it's original it is. And all the actors did such great work with the voice acting. And YES, KLAUS as #1 was the most deserved! It's absolutely magical and makes me cry and feel warm and fuzzy every year.
So glad to see the love for Klaus. It is such a BEAUTIFUL movie. To look at, to watch, the entire story is just wonderful. It never fails to make me cry.
Okay so I wrote the first comment before I saw the clips that they were playing for Klaus. I can confirm, that just the line "I get to see my friend" will make me sob too.
The moment when Toy story 4 won the Oscar and it was not given to Klaus made me lose the faith on those awards completely.
I know Toy Story 4 was nothing more than a mindless cash grab while Klaus actually has heart and soul poured into it.
The same thing happened to the movie Wolfwalkers.
Klaus, I love Klaus. The animation, the story, the characters and the message. Not to mention J.K Simmons is a great choice to voice Klaus
The Life & Adventures of Santa Clause. An underrated gem but it has Jim Cummings as the main lead
Loved Ernest Saves Christmas growing up! Also, Ernest Scared Stupid was a staple around October in my house. RIP Jim Varney
He will be missed
The Homecoming: A Christmas Story is underappreciated Christmas movie. We are first introduced to the Waltons in this movie. The actors who played the children go on to star as the children in the TV series.
Totally agree, The Homecoming is very underrated, and needs more love. 💕 It’s been posted to RUclips and has over 7 million views. 😃
Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory" is an underrated and seldom seen holiday show that should get more respect.
Thank you for remembering this Emmy award winning TV movie. I loved it as well.
Such a holiday wonder! I finally found a dvd of the television screenplay last year….a now prized possession along with a copy of the book, which I received as a birthday present (Dec. 20!) a looooong time ago. Capote’s “ A Christmas Memory”…along with “The Thanksgiving Visitor” …..are my go-to holiday joys!
8 of these are on my christmas list this year (and most every year).
One Christmas movie that me and my family loves but is not very well known is Fred Claus. If you haven't seen it, it's about an ordinary guy who's brother is Santa (or Nick).
Annabelle’s Wish is so underrated; she is so sweet and dreamt of flying with the reindeers. ❤❤❤❤❤
Not mention the heartwarming relationship between her and Billy, such a wonderful classic.
Who else came here because of Klaus?
Little Women with Winona Ryder and Kirsten Dunst is essential christmas viewing!
My own tradition come december is watching Christmas Movies/Specials with some cookies & eggnog. The first time I watched Klaus, I cried. Instantly feeling that Christmas Joy. It's become a must watch every year since
It will be cool if you guys did a top 10 underrated Christmas specials list
YESSSS!!!! I'm so happy to see that Annabelle's Wish is on this list because it's a forgotten childhood favorite. I rarely see anyone talk about it. I first watched it when I was in kindergarten, and it was a difficult movie for me to find since I couldn't remember the name of it. All I knew was that it had a sad yet happy ending and some of the best Randy Travis and Allison Krauss songs, it wasn't until I was in high school that I finally found it on DVD and I watch it every Christmas season with my family. I even bought the soundtrack. It may not be award worthy but it does deserve more attention because I can feel how much heart went into telling this story. I wish it at least played on TV or was on some kind of streaming service, but I'm just happy to know that there are people who still remember this sweet movie. Thank you WatchMojo for adding it to this list!! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
I saw it a few years ago as an adult and it is awesome! The music are all so good and filled with magic and wonder.Feel good Christmas films are one of the reasons why I adore Christmas!
watched this every year with my kids when they were little
I'm so glad Arthur Christmas is on this list! I think it's such a fun way to look at the Santa mythos and I just love the way it handled its characters. Loved Klaus too, but I will admit Arthur Christmas is my favorite
"THE GATHERING" from 1976 with Ed Asner and Maureen Stapleton. THE BEST Christmas movie of them all.
MUPPET FAMILY CHRISTMAS! Both the Sesame Street and Muppet Show gangs, as well as the Fraggles all make appearances, and though it's only a 45 minute special, they get SO much in, it feels like a full film 🥰
There is also a bittersweet moment at the end where the late Jim Henson makes a cameo. Ugh, so good! Its on RUclips, if you're interested! 👍🏼💖👌🏼🎅☃️🎄
I watched 24 Christmas movies this year. One of the newer movie that I loved was "Feast of the Seven Fishes."
I don’t remember when I watched White Christmas but it’s a treasured classic. I even saw the musical
Klaus is such a beautiful film! Gorgeous animation, lovely story and wonderful voice talent! I watched it for the first time last year and loved it! I was especially pleased to hear Norm Macdonald ❤
I have Annabelle’s wish on dvd.
I totally forgot about that movie Danielle
@@seanlauer9222 Then you never appreciated it.
@@danielledewitt1 Hey Hey Hey I say that I totally forgot about the Movie Annabelle’s Wish that doesn’t meant that I don’t appreciate it. There is a big difference you know?
@@seanlauer9222 You clearly didn’t like the movie.
@@danielledewitt1 again BIG DIFFERENCE between totally forgot about the movie AND didn’t appreciate the movie so CLEARLY get your FACT STRAIGHT
I grew up watching "Annabelle's Wish" on VHS.
Klaus has been a favorite Christmas movie for my husband and I since it came out. We watch it every year and it's my husband's (who is of viking decent) favorite design of Santa.
"Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" is surprisingly deep for a kids' animated movie based on a comedy song.
Tokyo Godfathers - there aren't a lot of Christmas movies from Japan out there, but this is an incredibly moving movie with a lot to say about poverty, depression and urban decay, and themes of support, friendship and forgiveness that fit in perfectly to the holiday. Leave it to a mostly non-Christian country to get the themes of the holiday better than most American movies do.
Some more great classics; Remember the Night, It Happened on 5th Avenue, and Shop Around the Corner.
I love The Man Who Invented Christmas, Disney's A Christmas Carol, and White Christmas!
Thanks! We'll be checking out Klaus and the Dickens movie this year!
Movie that should have been on the list for underrated movies is Fred Claus. Paul Giamatti and Vince Vaughn. They play off each other so well.
1979’s Jack Frost. Frosty, Rudolph and Santa has a lot of love but not Jack Frost. He deserves recognition
Yes! I need this; Watching Lifetime holiday movies is rotting my soul and I'm trying to be merry and bright, damnit!
Yes! My mom loves those movies, but there's nothing to them!
@@amandastjohn4735 Haha! Right. No substance whatsoever, the same basic plots, and sooooo not funny when they try to be 😳
For 80s-90s kids Ernest is a beloved character. Jim Varney was proof that it takes a smart man to play dumb.
My favorite lesser known classic is “We’re no angels” with Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov. A recent one that surprised me and I like a lot now is “Fred Claus.” Finally there is “Get Santa,” which is difficult to find but very good too.
It happened on 5th avenue is another forgotten Christmas classic...
One that definitely always ends up under the radar. An American Christmas Carol, a made for TV movie starring Henry Winkler as Ebenezer Scrooge.
Another surprisingly good A Christmas Carol adaptation is Barbie's Christmas Carol.
I was glad to see "The Family Man" on this list. It always gets me in the feels!😂
One of my favorite Nic Cage movies.
I never seen the movie but the plot sounds similar to It's A Wonderful Life than A Christmas Carol.
White Christmas is way too popular to be on this list! It’s a certified classic, not at all under appreciated.
What about Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas? Now that is a truest underrated Christmas movie
The Nutcracker Prince should have been on this list.
I had no idea that “White Christmas” is under-appreciated. Who knew?
Hell yeah!! Arthur Christmas is my favorite to watch during Christmas!!

prancer is one of my fav movies of all times. I am so surprised that vhs tape didn't die how often i watched that.
Klaus is wonderful. Not the usual Christmas type of story. Technically, the Jim Carrey film is Disney's A Christmas Carol. Learned that trying to find it on TV. For the whacked Christmas movie, P2 and Better Watch Out can't be missed. The original Cheaper By the Dozen with Clifton Webb is marvelous movie, too.

5 The Suite Life The Movie

The Homecoming, the pilot for The Walton's tv show is probably my favorite. A couple of years ago I saw Fred Claus for the first time. Both are very touching.
This is one I watch every year. It really got to me as a child, and made me a lifetime "The Waltons" fan!
I highly recommend the book version. There’s an audio edition too, it’s very well produced and at about 2 hours long, just right for a long drive at the holidays. As is usually the case, the book version is a better story. You’ll find the characters are familiar, but more realistic, flawed, genuine and gritty. It’s a Depression Era story that seems much more genuine and much less Hollywood.
Klaus is sooooo good! but my favorite Christmas movie has to be A Muppet Christmas Carol. I’m a sucker for all things muppets but the songs are just so good. Makes me emotional every time I watch it
A Christmas carol with Jim Carry is awesome
" A Child's Christmas in Wales" . A charming and lovely movie we watch each year. Set to the Dylan Thomas poem. Marvelous language and style. Also the made for TV "Scrooge" with George C Scott. Better than any other version.
It was Randy Travis who worked on the music for Annabelle's wish silly!
Angela Lansbury was such a great actress!
Suprise, I have not seen any movie but the last one, yeah I seen it 🎉
I watched Arthur Christmas this weekend with my husband for the first time and it is a gem! We thought it was going to be a silly, stupid kid movie but it is so layered!
Great list! I would've added (1988) A Very Brady Christmas as well as (1990) The Nutcracker Prince. The Nutcracker Prince had an all-star cast & I felt it was well done.

Sort of sad to see my 2 faves didn't make the list. One magic Christmas always hits in the feels and the life and adventures of Santa claus(not the Rankin bass one!) is adorably heart warming. Yet most people don't know they exist.
Joyeux Noël is another Christmas movie I watch every year but rarely hear anyone else talk about.
I remember Annabelle's wish!! I also loved Olive the Other Reindeer!
