    I’m amazed at how quiet this engine is, and the plane

    • @Odontomango
      @Odontomango Год назад +35

      Until you sit in the middle of the wings, then you get this really really loud/obnoxious high pitched noise from the hydraulic pumps that causes you to go insane. It starts from having the take off flaps set to climbing during take off and then during approach and landing when flaps and gears are being used.
      According google, even dog transported on the B787 had to go to a therapy.
      Beside that, if you sit in the back or the front, you don't get hear the noise much. In the front, you just hear the GEnx.
      (I know from my own experience on the B787)

      LOL too powerful…
      They don’t just crank them all the way up. Most jets take off with 85-95% power…and even if they *did* kick the throttle every time, it’d be fine. It would obviously cause more wear on the engines, up the fuel costs and financially burden the airline. But those engines are bolted the fuck down. When’s the last time you heard about an engine falling off an airplane? Donnie Darko? Some tiny country with zero safety standards? The activity in this video is statistically safer than almost anything you’ll do today.

      I’m thankful for it too because it is a shorter video instead of a long 20-25 minutes of plane taxiing to runway and then have to skip all the way to the takeoff that’s why I like videos when they skip recording the pushback and taxi and go straight to the takeoff and the first few minutes of the flight

    Thanks for this video. My favorite engine is the GE90-115b, as seen in my channel logo. Raw power. I'll sit for hours just watching aviation videos that have a good track, and listening through my DAC and headphone amplifier with the volume cranked. The Rolls Royce RB211 is #2 (B757/767). Sometimes the video gets it just right and I can hear their amazing buzzsaw engines.

      Seen a lot of takeoffs at Newark that use about this much. This was about 40 seconds from maxing thrust to liftoff. Long, but seem longer. Probably used about 7000-8000 feet out of a total of a bit over 11000 feet.

    2:06 = look at that wing flex on lift off! It’s crazy to think about the physics. How does it not crack off?!?! So much pressure on that wing to get lift.

      If they didn't flex that would snap off...they are designed to flex.

    Call me weird, but I like watching the little spiral thing in the middle of the engine appear to slow, stop and start spinning in the opposite direction as the engine spools up...

  • @chooch1995

    Does the carbon fiber fuselage really flex like that, or is our cameraman just a little shaky….the engine seems perfectly still while the window wobbles all over the place!

    • @mrmike1183
      @mrmike1183 Год назад

      Just initial take off shaking. Planes fighting high pressure under the wings during its climb for altitude as most planes do. Once it levels off its literally the smoothest passenger plane built today.
