Hey Finn! My wife is a PT and overheard your predicament with your walking boot. She recommended you buy a shoe riser - look for the EVENUp brand. It’ll get you walking right and save you a lot of hip/back pain. I’d send you one direct but I was worried it might get stuck in your PO Box and not get opened in time to help. Speedy recovery!

After a ton of chasing and changing parts it ended up… it was the distributor itself. I swapped it out with a new MSD, BAM problem solved.

The absolute fastest method to lash valves is to start with # 1 (take your pick, int or ex) then turn crank 1/4 turn and check cyl 8, 1/4 turn 4 following the firing order. You end up turning the crank 2 turns to check 8 valves. Then set up # 1 to check the other valve and again 1/4 crank turn at a time you go through the firing order. This method eliminates missing valves.
Just remember, with the exhaust valve just starting to open you check the intake valve lash, and with the intake valve nearly closed you check the exhaust valve lash. (this is called the EOIC method, and it works on every single 4 stroke engine in existence)

A lost art. what I don't understand is prior to the tuning Why did you not pull the pan and heads and simply check the internals Ring gap rod and main clearances verify TDC and measure dome and chamber. Even the camshaft can be Guesstimated in block. This is a weekend project (Friday night to Sunday afternoon) at least in my garage. The peace of mind and knowledge regarding on the internals is priceless especially considering the Maximum of 400$ in parts for Head gaskets rod, main and worse case rings. Cheap insurance and the best part is if it was not built as you need you will know what you have if you sell it.

do you have a stud girdle ? You probably should. I'm happy to see you are tuning this and making small improvements rather than throwing money at it.

    I care Mike, I care.
Believe it or not I broke the same foot a little over a year ago, i fell and broke 4 out of 5 metatarsal bones across my left foot.
C.ast crutches boot all of it.
I didn't end up needing surgery either, but I will say good luck sir because my foot hasn't been 100% since that day Im 39 and walk with a slight limp when bare foot.
But it has made me more aware of my mortality and motivated me to work out and take over all better care of myself.
Since "full" recovery, Ove lost about 48lbs and counting.🎉

Before you take it out again, check out your plug wires. Check for resistance between all wires.

One of my Favorite roadkill cars, maybe the favorite. Love the Duckie. Possibly only second only to the 69 Firebird, then it would be a roadkill garage car, the 67 Bonneville wagon. Notice a pattern?
