    Looking forward to going overboard as an overlord? Or maybe causing a hassle as a vassal? Grab the DLC here and share your exploits - play.stellaris.com/PartyElite ! If you have any questions or thoughts of your own, let me know down below, and I'll answer all I can.

    Quick tip. Don’t rely on prospectorium vassals to give you food in the long run. Once they hit level three, they’ll unlock Strip Mining and those destroy agricultural features for more mineral districts, this lowering the tax they pay on food.
    Just prep for this by building hydroponics on starbases or having a farming world in mind before they hit level 3.

    7:35 I'd add a bit of a caveat here. If your territory is smaller, but better developed and managed- doing a good job of playing tall, basically- you may be able to maintain an edge. Having a large empire isn't all positives; empire size can negatively impact research speed, and tech being as important as it is, that advantage might be what you need to keep a vassal under your thumb.

    • @justinthompson6364
      @justinthompson6364 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheAlmightyNameless Yeah, the balance between tall and wide has fluctuated over the various updates and patches, but it has often favored wide.

    • @justinthompson6364
      @justinthompson6364 10 месяцев назад

      @@TheAlmightyNameless Tall and wide are standard terms in the 4x genre to describe whether you're expanding your territory or focusing your resources into a smaller footprint. You're still growing your faction in a way, they're just different ways to develop. That's the theory anyway. How or whether it works depends on the game.
      As for managing wide empires, the automation and auto-migration elements can cut down on the hassle even if they might not be _quite_ as good as full manual control by a skilled player.

    I hate to look up guides on games I play, but I just had to with this DLC so I could learn how to create Prospectoriums from a insignificant Sector Vassal I just created.
    It's 100% a shame that we cannot specify what type of vassal we want them to be when we release them on our terms.
    On top of all that, it's barely impossible to make any vassal into a Propectorium with it's insane negatives...

    • @gallendugall8913
      @gallendugall8913 2 года назад +1

      Yes, that's what I came here to say. Negative 900 modifier? That's insane. I'd like to see someone, somewhere get a prospectorium. Without mods that is not happening.

    Bulwarks should always come out from your extra sector. The economic hit is way smaller since they have to build up their planet and pop. However, the bonuses they get and can give you are still the same.
    You can trade for the defensive platform cost and upkeep reduction and transfer leaders with bulwark traits.
    That’s really all you need from a bulwark, right?

    Because of this DLC, the Hegemony Origin is now VERY powerful. Essentially if your the strongest militarily you are the Hegemony's leader. You can promise to come to a vassals aid if they go to war and offer them the option not to join any of yours, but as a member of the Hegemony they will be joining all your wars regardless.
    One issue I'm currently struggling with is how to turn a protectorate into a vassal.

    • @Honk4frogs
      @Honk4frogs 2 года назад

      idk if you figured it out yet, but protectorates are a type of weak vassal, where they're significantly weaker than you. the only way (as far as I know) to turn them into the other vassal types is for them to catch up with your tech.

  • @Finwaell
    @Finwaell 9 месяцев назад

    couple things:
    especially once gates are a thing, take ALL your vassals to war with you. they might not contribute if they are weak but at least you prevent the enemy from using their gates and attacking your rear if he is on friendly term with your vassals. which is often the case (enemy of my enemy...)
    if you are a vassal of an overwhelming opponent, don't give up. build relationship with the overlord, trade loyalty for free stuff (don't ask for subsidy for things you want to take from him the most as it block trade. also let him have holding on your planet, it reduces your loyalty so you can always trade it back to him for more free stuff, i.e. take all his alloys repeatedly) and eventually get him to give you max subsidies. use it to prop up your economy, build a fleet matching his, use favors (and that perk from diplo tree that gives +diplo acceptance) to ask for independence (war for independence would make you fight his fed buddies/vassals as well), once free get secret fealty from his other vassals, then declare and take all his stuff from him in one fell swoop (or two if he is really big)
    oh and one final thing. if you want a loyal subject fast, once you conquer the enemy don't force war goals. instead occupy all his system like you would but go for status quo. it will create a new vassal from his occupied systems (all of them in this case) except this one will love you for liberating him ;) just a little trick

    • @justinthompson6364
      @justinthompson6364 2 года назад +1

      Whether or not integration is allowed is one of the terms of the subject agreement, so as long as it's prohibited (which basically always the default) you aren't at risk. If you _are_ stuck in a contract with integration allowed, larger empires take longer to integrate but the only way to permanently assure your safety is to change the terms of the agreement or break away altogether. Pledging secret fealty to another empire might help with the latter option.
