Great ocean wave tutorial. Easy to follow step by step instructions. I'm a beginner with 3ds and would have loved to see how you apply the ocean material texture though. At any rate, this tutorial really helped a lot. Thanks for sharing your talent.
thank you for great tutorial. one question :) how can I bake this animation down to sub object level (polys). I wanted to export this animation to game engine. Thank you.
Hi first of all thank you for your reply :) I did (even marked bake all animations) in fbx exporter. but only distorted plane got imported in Unity. There was no animation to import in Unity. If you worked with massFX in 3dsmax you see that all simulation are done in realtime when playing animation in 3dsmax but there is no key frame recorded. its only realtime. I think this noise modifier must have a bake animation option so all of simulation will be baked on key frames. which we will be able to see then on time line. I was wondering how this is possible with noise modifier. If you know a method please do share. Thank you for the time spending answering my noob question :)
I think I understand your problem. Did you use Autokey (or Set Key frame) when you create the animation? If you are doing it you should be able to export it with the animation. But you will have activate the animation with the Animator (I think was the Animator, but not sure) I can send you a .fbx with waves fx inside if you need to.
BEST WATER TUTORIAL EVER, STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND CRISTAL CLEAR AS F. Jesus, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Love your pace of instruction, smooth, comfortable. Thanks !
To see the segments, tap F4. This can also be used to make dips and hills in terrain, just forget the animation part and leave it still
Thanks for taking your time to teach and posting this tutorial! Really helped a lot!

Thank you, this was very helpful.
Very helpful, thank you! =)
How to loop noise modifier ? Looped background animation for example.
thanks for the tutorial
So there is a noise modifier. But is there a modifier that makes waves according to a resonant frequency?
Instead of keyframes can we use expressions to animate noise ? Just like we do in AE by multiplying key with time
can you do environment modeling also step by step ?
awesome tutorial, planning on using this for my game, u rock!
thank you
Thanks!
NIIICE!

thank you for great tutorial. one question :) how can I bake this animation down to sub object level (polys). I wanted to export this animation to game engine. Thank you.
You can export the project as FBX, for example if you are using Unity. Search which types the engine can use. Hope to help.
