I feel soooo bad for drawing Kaworu in this state of mind, that was so odd to see him like this ! He always shows a very confident and smiling face. I'm so sorry Kaworu ! I'm also so sorry Shinji, for making you die ! You both deserve a very happy ending !

This idea started as rewatching the final scene between Kaworu and Shinji. I wondered what would happen if Kaworu didn't take off the DSS Choker from Shinji (assuming he would have persude Shinji to get in the Eva Unit-13).
Shinji always sees Kaworu die, but what if Kaworu assists the death of Shinji ? How would he react ? Would he stay calm ? Would he go insane ? Would he want to end the whole world ? That's what I wanted to answer in these drawings.

This is my own interpretation of an alternative ending where Shinji dies. I don't want neither Shinji or Kaworu to die. I only wish a happy ending for them.

IMO the latter would fit Shinji more and would absolutely rip Kaworu's heart in half

He's an angel. He probably knew there was a possibility of the fourth impact happening so he put it on just in case anything happened, that.... Or he needed to gain Shinji's trust.
This is just my speculation but goddamnit even Anno doesnt know what the fuck was he doing when writing rebuilds
@@dami8875 maybe it's just for trust, because if he wanted to stop an impact he needs to be alive. In the anime he was dead and the third impact still happened.
But you're right, rebuilds have little to no sense.
Maybe the choker if removed has a countdown unless put back at the neck

The really Messed up bit is that it seems that it seems Shinji keeps resetting humanity so if he died there would be no more loops and Kaworu would have to live with Shinji's Death!

The Destroyer Awaits
It had been four years, four years since Shinji Ikari had woken up, four years since Misato Katsuragi wouldn't pull the bomb trigger, four years since the battle in the ruins of Tokyo Three, four years since he disappeared. Evangelion 3.0+1.0 deja claro que el universo de Evangelion existía detro de un bucle dónde todo se repetía una y otra vez, así que es fácil imaginar que a veces Shinji moría antes de que todo volviese a reiniciar.
Eso sería interesante de verdad.

I did. His was a tragic story, but somehow it got an happy ending along with Rei.
I think he wanted to die, because he wanted Shinji to be the one to bring Impact, but out of his own free will. So, he chose to lower his AT field (his body) so he could unite with Rei and wait for Shinji to come for him.
He's not human. He doesn't understand the Impact will not help him. All he understands, is that they can be the same in the Impact. But like in every relationship, Shinji must want that too.
Okay, but imagine if Shinji actually snapped and did something like this in 3.0? In fact, I can already picture it in my head right now.
So basically, after everything that happened to him, Kaworu's death was what finally sent Shinji over the deep end. It doesn't take long for that grief to turn into blinding rage; and so he would utterly destroy the AAA Wunder along with everyone inside (including Misato). Shinji then turns his attention towards Mari and Asuka, brutally killing the two of them.
As for what happens next? One could only guess

I liked the last movie. And I can understand the whole reasoning behind Kaworu: however, what I didn't like, was to give Anno's real "happy ending" to Shinji. I mean, we still don't know Who the hell is Maria Iscariota.

@@king_bowser593 I believe they wanted to mark the kind of the relationship Kaworu and Kaji had during the fourteen years skip. How Kaji behaved as Kaworu's dad? At least it was like that for me.
About the Impact, during the the 2nd movie our knowledge of what happened was limited to Shinji's POV; it's more than likely that other things happened but, being Shinji unaware of them, the same could be said for us.
