Moving EA games from an SSD to a hard drive.

- this is just a video showing how to move game files for the EA launcher. From hard drive to hard drive. Or just from location to location.
In this video I am moving Battlefield one from my. HDD to my SSD. And then back again.(the back again part is in high speed because It was kind of already self-explanatory)
You can simply change the path in the registry editor to point to the new location, no need to faff around saving reg files!
Yes, thank you. That makes a lot of sense.
how ? it doesn't let you change the path, it just has the option to browse ?
they are referring to the windows registry entry and not the EA App details@@Kuticul . meaning, there's no need to export -> edit -> import back into the registry. just find the registry key, find the path value, and update it directly there (double click to open it and you can edit it)
But the question really is: Why do we have to fiddle with the registry editor, why do we NOT have the option to move games in ea app???
I hope EA watches this. I appreciate your efforts in showing how to move games but this is just straight up a missing core feature of the current EA app. Origin had a very easy way to move games within drives (right click game, move game, choose folder - that's it!). I've been using the EA Beta for a year and this feature still hasn't shown up in it's official release. Just sad.
Yes. When I got forced to move over to EA Launcher. This was the biggest deficiency I noticed, which is really sad since the origin launcher had the best game moving capabilities of any launcher I'm aware of and for people who don't have 8 tb of SSD,s, moving your current game to an SSD. Is such a big deal if you like playing lots of games on rotation
Spanish: Solo copien los archivos del juego en la nueva ubicacion, desinstalan el juego y al volver a instalar eligen la opcion donde copiaron los archivos y listo
English: Just copy the game files to the new location, uninstall the game and when reinstalling, choose the option where you copied the files and that's it.
Amazing video, very clear and thorough explanation. If you want Windows to recognise the new install location, you can "repair" the game in the EA App from the "manage" menu of the game 0:13
Thank you. Glad you liked it. As to the repair function, my understanding was. It would correct corrupted files by re downloading them Not by searching your computer for another location, Where they might be stored in.
Thanks for the tutorial, you save me
Massively helpful been struggling trying to get the launcher to recognise, this video is perfect thank you
Thank you so much!
woow, video perfect, Thank U

Glad I could help.
i did it but when i opened EA again the game wasnt there
I have a problem. Mines registry doesn’t have EA it shows electronic art and I don’t see my games just EA core and EA deskto
same
Found it, it's under Respawn
i neeed help
for me appears that there is no EA Games folder on registry editor, there is just an Electronic Arts forlder ,any why idea why might be that? pls I rlly want this to work
Does that folder have the games in it? 'cause then it should just work. Also. If you came from using origin Some of the folders and things will still be called origin 'cause the EA launcher doesn't always rename Existing folders So sometimes the games will still be stored In an origin folder. (I didn't research it. But when I was making this video, I ran across a few games in my origin library That didn't have a Reg edit So I could just physically move the file And The game would Be found) I think that was because. Origin didn't use regedit. And So the EA launcher had to locate. The original origin folder and grabbed them from there. But this theory was untested since I didn't look into it.
I'm having the same issue..and no the Electronic Arts Folders doesn't have EA Games
did u solve it?
Nicely done. Lekker
Easy way is to directly edit that reg like i did :)) and replace the game location
Agreed! I do that and work perfectly!
gracias capo me daba weba volver a descargar 200gb XD
I love you
thx
Is it just my PC but your voice changed completely towards the end…making it hard to hear and understand.
Yes 7:10 is the official end of the video but for those who are interested. I tacked on How to undo the move but I put it in High speed because I wanted to keep the overall video length short. And since the information was repetitive, just undoing everything that had been done, I didn't think it was a big deal to have the speed ramped up. If you're actually interested in it, I recommend putting the video playback speed to .5 once you reach 7:10 in the video It still sounds a little odd But it makes more sense.
bro redownloading seems easier why ea made this so hard there is another method but you need twice the space which I don't have that
orgin had locate the game option why its not in the ea app
idk why they even change it to ea app origin was working fine and was alot better than ea app if there was some problem they should've fix it or rebrand that app like ubisoft did to uplay
edit: it seems hard and you made this long ass tutorial this video should be around 2 mins no need to be this big thanks anyway
I agree, origin was so much better. Re downloading would be nice but I have slow Internet. Also, what all could I omit from this video to make it shorter?
absolutely rediculous in this day and age.I just want to move fifa 23 and i have to mess around like this. In the desktop app you just moved it via the app. Ea killed that off and now via the ea app its a mess.
Typical ea.
I also have a memory problem so cant easily learn new tasks.
Thanks ea for making this so hard for so may.
Instead of doing all that just copy game into the new folder delete from old folder then download the game again an it will overwrite the new game file saving time from downloading
Easier way to do it:

My g this ain't the same
Steam is way better
Yes, steam is much better. But what's so unfortunate is origin was the best. but now they've discontinued that. So that makes steam the best. cuz this is even worse than epic And Ubisoft.
Terrible, just like their games, unfortunately EA seems to be lacking in software development capabilities and their abillities seem to be diminishing, despite the newest technologies making game development easier than ever before... Not only that, but they have the guile to force their customers to an inferior software...
Not only that, but a new FIFA 23 update came out and instead of being normally 2-3gb/s, for some reason it requires of you to have as much space as it takes the game(80Gbs) times 2 for their latest update, so they can patch it properly... In total 160gb's of space... I ain't messing with my registry in 2023, because of incompetent EA software development...
