There are MORE Legends you can find on their website! Well, they are written mostly in german, but you can also just use a translator for help. How they used the plate number 72 for the legends, fans can create, is a neat idea! The only problem is that you mostly need the expansions of the game!
There are some fanmade legends if you google for a bit too. I found two, who had some imaginative use of the elements of the game. With several options if you do (or don't do) certain things, and several endings.
In my play through my archer landed on a fog space, right next to that space was a creature, can I pick up the token and fight the creature adjacent to him in the same turn?
I have the Fantasy Flight version. Will the expansions work with that version of the game? The only thing that keeps this from being my favorite game is the setup time. It takes a long time to set this baby up.
+Jawsh “Jawshco” Murdock - the expansions are self-contained, so should work flawlessly IMO. Not sure if there is any difference in terminology in the new Kosmos releases vs. the original FFG release (in the base game I mean, as FFG did not do any expansions), but I think you should be good.
+Flannc1 - there is an official Solo variant for Legend 3. Apart from that, as this is a COOP game, you can basically take multiple Heroes and play them all for any Legend - with the caveat that you will spend more time at the Legend that way.
+Joe Kundlak Yeah that's what I was thinking since it is a co-op. Just want some other opinions on this, from those who have played solo. of course I'll do some searching in the 1 player guild.
+Flannc1 - I believe to be able to play the other legends solo you would need to tweak the cards and/or bend some rules. The solo variant for Legend 3: legenden-von-andor.de/en/bonus-material/solo-variante-fur-legende-3/. The gist of the changes for Legend 3 is in the setup and also in some tweaks to how you play (basically easing the play for the single Hero compared to playing with at least 2) - like for instance using Hourse 8-10 without losing Willpower etc.
Looked nice, but I don't like it anymore. The first three scenarios all followed the same pattern: We tried to solve them, something surprising happened and messed up our plan. In the second attempt, it was relatively straightforward. The last scenario is so difficult that I wonder how it can be solved at all. To solve a scenario, you can't really be creative, you just have to follow certain steps. The game logic practically forces you to make a lot of decisions. Maybe something changed with the extension, but until then I'll pass.
OK, we won Legend 3 without killing any monster, only the boss. How's this certain steps to you? :) This game is ALL about creativity. You can creatively approach the missions, like I did. For example, Legend 4: you can rush it or you can stealth it. And when you done playing Legends in the box (don't forget, that you MUST play and win Legend 3 four times because there are four bosses) you can CREATE your own Legends or your own missions for Legend 3. Or just print out the official bonus legends (4 of it don't need expansions).
oh its just because a lot of people currently producing fantasy settings lack creativity and hence make generic settings. Fantasy can be as diverse if not more diverse than any other genre its just so many people and companies are so stupid to not look outside their narrow box and see some of the really unique fantasies out their. screw high fantasy black and white settings, do some dark fantasy or some lovecraftian influenced fantasy their is so much untouched potential in fantasy people just need to start producing unique settings and reading more than basic DnD and Tolkien books.
Scenario based games are always putting me off. In most cases the replayability just isn't that great. Sure, there are most likely alot of scenarios on boardgamegeek but would it really have been that difficult to include those in a bloody REPRINT?
+Gam Ov (gamov) Yeah sure, M44 offers an immense amount of stuff but that is more of an exception than the rule. In most cases you can be very lucky if the numbers of scenarios included in a game comes even close to 10.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no, for me. Loved Dead of Winter at First, but the mechanics can get dull for some people, when you frequently play a game. So I prefer to pay more for fresh ideas of games I like. Robinson Crusoe and Time Stories are fantastic. Mice and Mystics is supposedly pretty good. If you get Betrayal at House on the Hill, you get a modular board and 50 storylines. The Expansion gives another 50 storylines. Gloomhaven is about to come out and that has tons of scenarios in the main box. The key is getting a bunch of scenarios in the base box to keep the game fresh. Modular boards, Eclipse, Xia, Crusoe, Suburbia, Betrayal, Mansions of Madness... helps a lot for replayability.
Do you have the Fantasy Flight or Kosmos edition of the game? As shown in the review, the Kosmos rulebook is supposed to be better and cleans up a lot of translation mistakes from the FFG version.
Maybe not your cup of tea and that’s find. I personally like the exploration and fight aspect of it. What I can see to be an issue with many other players is the fact that the timer goes down while fighting. Not a biggie for me but I have read and heard of other players complaining about it.

There are more than 150 (!) fanmade legends. Unfortunately for you, all in German ... it is really one of my favorites.

Zee...how does this measure up to defenders of the realm? Curious if it is a duplicative purchase.

are the games in the background Zee's or Tom's ?
Have you ever played this solo?
If not, how do you think it would play solo?

Traded Hostage Negociator for this game to a friend. Going to pick it up later today :) Hopefully it's good !

Slightly agree with you. We think legend 4 is almost not doable with only two players.
First fog you flipped is the one we lost -.-.

I know! I mean, generic fantasy - like with human warriors fighting dragons and stuff can be fun, but there are hundreds of other types of fantasy!
hopefully I can change that soon
been waiting for ages for a review of this game :)

+Hitchslapped Thats what put me off of it when I looked at it a while back.
+Hitchslapped What about M44 which has thousands of scenarios...
+Gam Ov (gamov) Yeah sure, M44 offers an immense amount of stuff but that is more of an exception than the rule. In most cases you can be very lucky if the numbers of scenarios included in a game comes even close to 10.

The "rulebook" for this game is horrible.

I have the Kosmos edition. It still sucks.
Kosmos here. Yes, it's very bad.
I hate this game. My kids hate this game. They literally begged me to stop playing after the second scenario.
