Very nice. Just sold my house four months ago. I finished my basement and added a 12x19 HT room with a riser in the back. 120” screen and HD projector. Ir was all budget except I had a nice SVS sub and a nice 7.2 Denon. BenQ PJ. Emotiva Front, center, surround and rear. Oh. I had two SVs subs. I left one there. I spent a lot of time with REW to tune my subwoofer perfectly for that room. It sounded great. In a town house now. No room for any HT. Looking to move south where I will have no basement. May never have an HT again. I sure do miss that. I built it all myself and did all the designing. Built all the acoustic panels etc. so it truly was budget. Didn’t rival high dollar setups, but it was awesome. Now I’m sad typing this. Lol.

That sounds like a good one. I wasn't able to have a separate HT room so I converted my LV. We use it everyday. I am in it right now.

@@HawaiiDetailingAs weird as this may sound, I’d rather have a nice little setup in a living room as I would use it more. Being in the basement just seemed so far away. Lol. We rarely used it as a family. Most the houses we are looking at are open concept so there would be no surrounds unless maybe I did them in the ceiling. I plan for a large TV like you have with my mains, center and Sub at some point. I’m partial to my 55” LG OLED, but if I do a theater in my LV, I’ll need something bigger.

I'm a huge audio geek and enjoy home theater too. I've been designing speakers for home and pro audio for years and have had some crazy dedicated systems. However, nothing replaces a solid living room setup. Most of the time spouses, kids, and friends don't really care about sound or picture quality, so the most convenient space is what is used. This leads to extremely expensive theaters or entertainment rooms going to waste. IMO, it is better to spend that money in a living room instead and get a really nice, large TV, a good set of speakers, and a comfy chair or couch. It will ensure that your spent money is actually getting used and enjoyed.
I know I'm going to get comments about spousal acceptance factor, and I feel that. Just remind them that the norms they are perpetuating are just societal, and nothing bad is going to happen if you have an 85" TV with nice speakers in a main living room. I have a 75" TV as well as a 120" pull down projector screen, surround sound, and an 18" subwoofer in my living room and not a single person has commented negatively. As long as it is tasteful and high quality, cool stuff is cool to anyone.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree. For me a living room kit made the most sense. We use it every single day.

Bit late to the comments but just wanted to say I love the set up! Someday I wish to have something great like yours. Glad to see ya Jeremy and love the successful carnivore diet. I've been doing intermittent fasting for a while and been looking to do the carnivore to bulk up in the future when I can better afford to go all out.

Thanks. I have been in the grind for many years and now have started buying things i want and trying to enjoy my life. Keep getting after it. Carnivore is a great diet. Seems like the right way to eat by all ways I can judge it. I feel fantastic.

Hay jeremy, very nice set up. I’ve been doing home theater since the mid-80s, I really got serious when DVD first hit with the 5.1 encoding. my advice for you is as soon as it’s doable get yourself an Atmos enabled processor or receiver you simply won’t believe the difference Atmos makes contrary to popular believe you don’t need to add 8 million more speakers 2 more will do the job. Looking at your layout, I’m assuming you could put two more speakers in the front wall so those would be front Wides just a little higher and to the left, and the right of the right and left front channels would probably be the easiest. If you can access the ceiling 2 overheads would be better but don’t discount the front wide and/or front heights work just fine that’s how my set up currently configured. I can’t stress enough how great Atmos is it isn’t just sound overhead. It’s a completely different mix. It Just sounds so much better the dialogue, the base, none of which comes from the overhead or front wide speakers, you won’t believe the difference in the mixes. enjoy the channel and have a great one.

Thanks for sharing. Yes I plan to update the stereo equipment for sure. I already have eyes on some upgrades. It’s a place my wife and I spend the majority of our evenings and it’s great to have a decent setup.
