I’m normally don’t comment but I’ve been watching comic pop for about 7 years and I just wanted to say this show idea is fabulous and I hope it continues. Thanks for the content Sal!
As someone who misses the occasional “Comicpop: After Dark” stream, I really enjoy this type of video (even if they are totally different). This is practically Sal reading a few unreleased CBR articles and I love it. Let’s keep it going.
Really liked this. One of my favorite aspects of the regular show is hearing Sal's insight and history in the comicbook industry. What does well and can do well on YT seems to have narrowed considerably with certain extremes being able to break through. Hopefully the timing and format of the show can make this work cause I think theres a real market for it
Please do more of this format! No frills just you talking shop about the industry and whatever you’re seeing from your unique perspective. Sal I would listen so hard!
I love this type of thing. If Sal could do a solo podcast like this, that released 25-35 min episodes I could listen to in the mornings... I would be so ready for that!
“Gooooooood MORNING COMICPOP! Get your daily fix for your comics addiction with Sizzlin’ Sal in the Morning while you ride that commute to your secret identity’s day job!” _airhorns, car honk, sliding whistle_
Sal can talk about anything he's interested in and I'll enjoy it. As much as i want this channel to grow big, there's a selfish part of me that wants to keep you guys my little secret
I can only speak for my own first-hand experiences, but as a comic book retailer in Eastern Canada trying to play the game and guessing what's going to sell, I've been really pleasantly surprised by the interest over the last few years. Now, my store is very lucky to be operating in an area that has a healthy (for 2022) customer base for comics, but I was also in Ottawa Comic Con a few weeks ago as a customer and that place was positively packed with tons of people going through back issue bins on the day that I was there. Markets can obviously differ from region to region, but it gives me a lot of hope for the industry.
I actually did listen to this while getting ready and driving to work. Sal's voice is comfort listening to me at this point, so it's always great to play in the background.
Was literally pulling into work when Sal mentioned it lol Loved this format though, and would totally listen to more episodes like this. It's fun just to hear Sal talk about these sort of topics.
Really liking this format, Sal. Would love to see you do more of these. Can easily listen to it while doing something else, no need to keep my eyes on the screen.
I was at Savannah ComicCon and was trying to find ANY issue of the Tick. 4 diff. comic vendors and not a single floppy or trade. There was no company presence from any publishers in anyway.
I personally feel a reason so many people are dropping off comics is because of the AMOUNT of entertainment coming out lately. For a while I thought I had to ingest it all but I’m better at just picking and reading/watching what I want to read not what I feel I should be reading. I had an argument with a friend about all the mcu stuff. They feel they have to watch it ALL so now they don’t watch any of it.
I think you make a good point. That being said I think that the price of comics is also a reason. For example I’d love to support more comics but I’m already doing about five bucks a month for Spider-Man and can’t really justify buying more.
For me personally, I’ve kinda dropped off comics because of a fundamental aspect in comics, in that they Don’t continue for a long time and don’t let anything develop and then change everything or mix it up or they drop a writer and a new writer picks it up and massively changes stuff to put their own spin on it. It’s kinda why I drifted more into manga than western comics. With manga it’s written by one person for its entirety and the world in it is gonna develop a certain way from beginning to end. I know they want those issue 1’s so new people can pick it up and get into it, but then if something changes the people that got into their issues 1’s may not be into the next batch. I mean, One Piece is a 1000 chapters and 1000 episodes but new people are still picking up that series for the first time and running with it, the author even said “if you wanna get into one piece now, it’s perfect because we’re in the final stretch”.
@@Infinitydev-lh2bo I hear ya man but comics and Manga are fundamentally different but they also aren’t. I think too many people focus on this when in actuality a run of a comic character is VERY similar to a manga. Most runs by a writer do have a beginning middle and end. Too many people get stuck on the idea of the preamble. “I have to read 60 years of the character to get it.” No you don’t. If you loved the character you CAN do that but the context of the story being told will be explained in THAT run. Zdarsky’s Daredevil run is some of the best literature I’ve read and I promise you don’t HAVE to read what came before it’s just like realizing these characters have a history but you don’t NEED it.
@@slightlyhoopla4215 I’m not comparing them objectively I’m just saying I like that manga’s single writer ongoing nature as opposed to comics that are differentiated by runs of different writers or are changed by events
@@Infinitydev-lh2bo But as someone already said, a run by a writer typically has a beginning, middle, and end. Like 60 issues for one writer’s run is much easier than 1,000 like for One Piece. The problem with manga are stories that just last way too long and frankly make many people not want to go through so much. I will never read or watch One Piece. I don’t have the time and the length is a deterrent. There are frankly many great Vertigo comic runs that are tighter with their storytelling than manga stories that last forever. Super hero comics have that issue, but the critically acclaimed runs don’t require you to read everything that came before. You can just read those runs.
Throwing in that NY anecdote from Elseworlds is great because 1. Elseworlds is a great show that I always look forward to 2. The creator interviews on the channel are spectacular and fun, and I love seeing insights into the creative process and behind the scenes of the stories I love to read
Woke up early and while struggling to get out of bed, I see this posted and I feel like I wouldn't mind more of this kind of content to start a morning with. And a cup of coffee ofc
Sal, PLEASE keep doing this. As much as I love hearing you riff with Joel, Sal, Ben, Tiffany et al, it was so nice to hear you just speak your mind for a bit on the way home from work.
Holy crap!!! Sal's comics & coffee/ comics'n coffee is a podcast I NEED! please lol even just a 20 min audio only of what ya feel like YOU NEED to read, Sal. love you guys
I enjoyed this a lot! Especially the part where you rattled off James Marsden’s filmography and ended with Sonic The Hedgehog
I really dig this format. Really reminds me of a classic radio program. Hopefully we get more of this.

That was fun to listen to while cleaning up the house.
"We'll be back with more 'Sal Says' after this; but first, here's Gary with a check of your traffic and weather."
thank you Sal. I need more of this
If this becomes a regular series, then add me to the list of regular listeners. This was a pleasant surprise to find in my subscription box
Sal’s Insight at Sunrise. There was so much I learned from this. Thanks Sal.

I really like this format. I don't know why but I do.
This was a great a idea! I’m always scrambling for some RUclips or podcast to listen to out of bed.
Please make more of these. This was so relaxing to listen to.
This was great thanks
As someone who misses the occasional “Comicpop: After Dark” stream, I really enjoy this type of video (even if they are totally different). This is practically Sal reading a few unreleased CBR articles and I love it. Let’s keep it going.
Good idea, keep making more of these

I love this format it's short and easily digestible for my morning commute.
loved this while drinking my morning coffee.
Love the solo podcast. Feels like we don’t get much content with just yourself talking comics Sal
This video is great. Sal you’re in your element here my guy
I actually did listen to this while getting ready and driving to work. Sal's voice is comfort listening to me at this point, so it's always great to play in the background.

Pleasant surprise. I'll take a nice long comicpop video any day of the week but especially when I'm at work on a rainy day lol
I like this! Just hearing someone riffing their thoughts in a semi unfiltered manner is one of the things that makes this channel great!
Yes make this a thing. Like morning radio.
Dude this was great to wake up to! Hope it continues! Fascinating to hear about the lack of comics at NYCC as someone who hasn't been since 2018.
Had an absolute blast, thank you, Sal, here’s to a new series 🎊🎉
Love this new idea and format!
This is awesome. Please make more.
