    For anybody with 2012 900 engines that tdc doesn’t line up with the center or the crank position sensor. There’s minimal information out there but there is a serial number break where tdc is about ar 9oclock on the case split. The hash mark will line up perfectly with the case split that is your tdc on the pto cylinder. I hope this may help someone else out there that’s scratching their heads wondering why after timing the engine you only get 1/2 of a revolution and then it gets solid.

    Hmmm, so at top dead center the intake valves are slightly open? Otherwise you would not need a tool to hold cam.

    How do you know tdc on a 2019 ranger 570? I assumed it was the v mark in the CPs hole.. but piston isn’t at tdc with the v.. any tips?

    I Just replaced my valve seals and need to check the timing.. Both of the camshafts have E and I mark’s on them so I’m guessing I should go by the I on intake an E on the exhaust side ? ? Also what’s the TDC mark on the fly wheel look like ? 2012 xp900 but The engine was replaced a year or so ago and it has the newer top hat style valve seals

    Is this the same procedure for a 2014 RZR 1000? And If yes, where should the lobes be pointing on the PTO side at TDC? One part of your video shows them down and in, the other, up and out. I want to make sure my timing gears are on properly not 180 out. Thanks!

    I'm working on a 2011 rzr 900xp that's been bored out. I'm trying to set the time. I have the left cylinder at dtc. I have my intake and exhaust cams set as they are suppose to. The fly wheel timing mark isn't lining up where I think it was suppose to be. It is on the left hand side where the case line is. And that's where my cylinder is TDC. When we try to start it without plugs it rolls over perfect. But when I put plugs in it, it spins and clunks spins and clunks. Could the flywheel and woodruff nut be on improperly?

    Hi john i have a 2011 Rzr900 with Cranking issues which i think maybe timing related. Cranks over with the spark plugs out fine with good compression both cylinders, as soon as the plugs are installed its like it seems to have to much compression and struggles to crank the engine over. I've over seen all the basics i.e smotor wiring, valve clearances, timing chain timing, injector pulse, spark ect. and was wondering if its a common issue for this model or weather or not someone's had the same issue before and would like to enlightening me with their findings as its just sitting in the shed collecting dust and needs to be brought back to is former gory. Cheers

      According to my research the cam chain tensioner (Oil pressure actuated) can fail and the cam skip a tooth or more. Bad design.
      Many people are installing a manual adjuster or yamaha style auto adjuster kit such as from Alba Racing.

    my 2011 polaris sportsman 850xp eps leaked oil from the engine block. the original owners only did 1 oil change and it was with a terrible brand. i went ahead and did a oil change with the polaris extreme duty oil change kit. it had stopped leaking from there on, was that the reason it leaked?

    First, I would like to say thank you for this break down it helped me with my 2013 XP rebuild. Also, I ordered a few parts from partzilla even though they were a bit more expensive than my normal site just because of your videos. My question is, Im currently at this part of the rebuild and I have 2 marks on my fly wheel. One line and one V mark both are top dead center one for the PTO side and the other the stator side. I looked on the internet and cannot find out which mark I should use and I don't want to have to set the timing again if I pick the wrong one with the motor in the rzr. So do I use the line or the V mark, or which cylinder do I set top dead too passenger or driver? thanks in advance

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 лет назад +3

      Rotate the engine until the flywheel Top Dead Center (TDC) mark (A) is aligned or centered in the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) mounting hole (B). This places the PTO cylinder at TDC for camshaft installation.
      bit.ly/2tq3Oie
      IMPORTANT
      DO NOT use the “V” mark located on the flywheel opposite of the “I” mark. Only the “I” mark should be used as a TDC reference.

    • @trentpetersen8754
      @trentpetersen8754 2 года назад

      As far as I'm aware it is your driver side for dtc and should be using the V

    • @PartzillaParts

      The only foolproof way is to tear it down to this point in the video, rotate to TDC and make sure the marks line up. If they don't, then you need to adjust.

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 лет назад

      Make sure it's at Top Dead Center with the camshafts pointing up and towards the center of the motor. Then you can line up the plate to secure them while you put the chain on.

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 лет назад +1

      There are changes from 2012 to 2013 in the motor configuration. TDC is visible through the CPS (Crank Position Senseor) hole on the 2013.

    Should there be any chain sag between the two cam sprockets? When I've fitted the sprockets and tensioner and rotate the engine primary ccw the intake cam seems to advance as it comes off the valves and add some slack to the cain. This then raises the chain slightly off the exhaust sprocket. It doesn't jump but it doesn't seem right. I've re done it a few times and end up with the same result.

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 лет назад

      Once the tensioner is set and in place, there should be very little slack on the cam chain.
