As an older climber (48), I still use foot locking in most situations. If ascending greater distances, I’ll use ascenders, but for the most part, foot locking is definitely my go to.
That’s a brutal way to climb considering we have all these fancy new devices tear your feet up use a foot ascender and a knee ascender a lot less impact on your feet this is old school
was never a fan of foot locking, was always a hip thruster for almost 27 years. thank God for SRT/SRS, it has given this 52yr old at least another 15 years in the game. if it wasn’t for me discovering SRT/SRS on youtube from watching some of these younger climbers (like yourself) demonstrating and using the gear, l would’ve been out of this industry years ago. so, thanx.
Back in the day I used to watch guys foot lock at the climbing competitions and it was insane how fast they could access the canopy. Seems like since SRT gained popularity foot locking became old fashioned but done right it’s incredibly fast.
True Blue! Great foot locking rope

It’s a great skill to have up your sleeve for sure 😊🤙
Do y’all wear composite shank when using spurs?
Yes, it will save you a LOT of pain.
Love it.
Really have to stomp those locks otherwise it slips. Flat sole boots help.
100% bro! I actually wore my old ArbPro boots for this video, just because they have a flat sole 😊🤙
👍👍👍
In theory
This is not ideal
