    Okay, so, I stumbled onto your video somehow. I'm a bass fisherman. That was amazing, you had me totally confused. I never realized that climbing could be so technical.

    It's rare that I comment on RUclips videos, and if I do, I know I've really enjoyed the content. I must say, this dude's channel is pretty much the best I've seen in the tree climbing arena. This piece was educational, fun to watch, and the time just flew by. Absolutely killer camera work too! Mesmerizing to watch for sure. The ending re-cap and the laughs at the close of the vid added a cool personal touch. Thanks! "Cheers" from Long Island, NY.

    I've only climbed DRT so far and of course have done foot locking. Also I looking to start SRT in the near future. This here though is almost its own style of climbing, I've never seen it done like this before! Really cool informative video I'll have to try it out sometime. Big fan of Reecoil!

    I'd love to get into tree climbing. Loved climbing trees when I was a small kid. Great to know this system, I'll definitely need to watch a few more times to get it down.

    4 year's of climbing and I've still not accessed a tree by foot locking. I need to give it a try. I even purchased an A.R.T. Snake tail and prusick loop for the occasion. Still not used my ring to ring "Secret Weapon" prusick cord. Confident of doing it but I should train my body to move that way. Excellent example you've shared with us here. Brilliant footage, Thanks for doing that mate😁

  • @towtruckaj

    Wouldn't it have been easier to remove and lower the second climbing system you brought up and tied into your foot locking prusik the same way you brought it up, while you were in the tree then rappel down the original 2 ropes with a figure 8 or some other descender?

    • @REECOIL_DOT_COM
      @REECOIL_DOT_COM  11 месяцев назад

      To footlock, we tend to use one rope over a branch and both legs of rope run all the way to the ground. Then footlock on both sides of the rope.

    Very instructive video. Thanks for sharing it.
    Should you need to descend in the middle of the foot-locking climb, how would you
    install the figure 8 to descend?

    • @REECOIL_DOT_COM
      @REECOIL_DOT_COM  2 года назад

      Hi Alfredo! So to install your Figure 8 to descend:
      1. Hang your weight from your footlocking prusik
      2. Install your Figure 8 on the access line as high as possible
      3. Take a lock with your feet and stand up, to hold onto, and release your footlocking prusik
      4. Sit back into your Figure 8 (holding onto the tail of your rope) and descend down
      Hope that helps bro 😊🤙

    So the system we use at work is a hitch climber system eye to eye. DRT. And I have a job I have to do that has a tie point just like that floating on a cottonwood. But I'm pretty sure we aren't allowed to use footlock and no extra mechanical means. 😢
    I mean, it seems doable but it also seems like it's going to be one heck of a mission body thrusting up 60ft floating.

  • @tommyers2166

    Very well done video. I’m missing the reason you do a static line and foot lock and then pull up the double rope system. Why not install the double rope from the get go? I know there must be a reason but I need enlightenment. Thanks.

    • @REECOIL_DOT_COM

      Probably should call it fundamental techniques instead of beginner. Takes a bit of practice to learn foot locking…and it’s bloody exhausting 🤣

      all aspects or tree climbing should be considered... when taught properly ... everything becomes regular .

    • @towtruckaj
      @towtruckaj Год назад

      @@REECOIL_DOT_COM I'd agree it's a beginner technique, I have never done any rappeling or rope ascending before, The other day I free climbed a tree with safety tie ins and taught myself to rappel down with a figure 8, Today would be my second time doing any sort of climbing or rappeling and I did a footlock technique to get up a double rope, then I tried the same technique but added another prusik for a foot loop instead of the foot lock, I was successful with that and I added a prusik to my figure 8 descent as a backup. I am as beginner as it gets and I have absolutely no fancy gear, no ascenders, no descenders. All I got is a harness, a couple ropes, and a couple slings and prusiks.

    What’s the primary benefit to using the foot lock technique over a foot ascender? My foot ascender makes it easy to climb a rope.

    • @lightupyourlife111
      @lightupyourlife111 2 года назад +3

      When the day comes you lose or break a foot acender you have the tools to do its manually with gear you may already have keeping you moving and the job going I suppose

    • @towtruckaj
      @towtruckaj Год назад

      The amount of gear, All it takes it a rope and a single prusik to do a footlocker ascend, Add a second prusik and you can add a foot loop to make it a little easier, The foot and hand ascenders may be nice but if you find yourself in a situation where you don't have it or it broke then all you need is the rope and a prusik to get up.
