Just wanted to come back and say that I did my first set with HID (after years of using control signal) and it was great so thanks for the tutorial. One VERY important thing to add is that it seems to immensely lighten the load on your CPU as it doesn't have to read a control tone anymore. I used to get occasional millisecond dropouts with control tone (despite being well over specs) but it all ran super smooth and not a single dropout. One problem is sharing with other Serato DJs who wanna use it too! I guess old skool style track off a usb while unplugging and replugging the USB cable... Thanks again!

Nice video and covered a lot so thank you. I wish you just mentioned how the hot cues work exactly since there are 4 buttons instead of 8 especially triggering samples. Now I have to look for another video for this.
This was very helpful however I wish you would have shown the computer screen at some point and shown if swift load on the computer Serato interface will load songs on the cd decks.

It's a shame the waveforms don't show on the CDJ screens. Rekordbox, Traktor & Djay Pro 2 all do. Not sure about Virtual DJ because I haven't used that in a while.
Passing off the set to the new DJ was hard at 1st. Now I get it! But the mixer needs a usb hub to make it smoother than a clunk hub. That just seems cheap on pioneers end. This way the CDJs are plugged in the mixer from the beginning!

I use a 4 channel controller. Sometimes I mix up to 4 songs at once on a transitions or just a remix. Would I need 4 CDJs to do this or is there some way to switch one CDJ to play on 2 channels at once?
When I plugged the CDJ2000nxs x2 and the DJM900nxs, my serato DJ Pro hardware didn't work. I was forced to pay for the Serato DVS to make it work. Why didn't it work with the software Serato DJ Pro only? I will ask for a reimbursement because according to this video it wasn't necessary.
So HID mode is directly associated with software compatibility, ? Ie a Pioneer XDJ100XJ all in one controller is a type of HID mode but will only work with Rekordbox or Serato?, Cheers

My question is that when I will be playing at a club for the first time, between very loud speakers, then while beatmatching, if I turn on 2 cues on, will I be able to hear the beats of the other song? its always good to have loud and CLOSED headphones for DJing. I started with cheap superlux open headphones and i couldnt hear anything. make sure you use closed ones!

Just another question, just from your video, if I want to play the music from my laptop it should be switched to “line” and if I want the music to be played from the cdjs switch to A? If I want the music to be played from the cdjs should I then have my music via USB stick?

What if you want to do a B2B with someone also serato or traktor? You can't share the cdj's usb ports only the djm second port. Any ideas. Only thing I can think of is 1 dj has to use dvs discs and use the djm as soundcard..

Hey guys have in mind that club’s cdjs and mixer needs to be updated in order to connect on HID mode. So be ready to rock n roll with timecodes any time or update club’s equipment by yourself... thanks

@@rebeljunction8876 timecodes are the old system or when you play with timecode records/cds (DVS-Mode). You can put the newest firmware on a usb stick an put it into the player. Then you can make a update. But when you updated the player OFF/ON that he starts again. Like a computer after a update. Can take 2-5min depends on how old the old firmware is at the payer and what kind of usb stick you use(2.0/3.0). At a good club the have normally the newest firmware updated. Last update CDJ2000nxs2 was in March2019. That does not happen often. When you get booked ask the club witch gear they use and ask when they make the last update. @@boomboxbri yeah, you'll need to purchase or subscribe for a license for Serato to work with this setup. You can do a 15-day trial but after that, you'll need a full-on license. Or bring a Serato box and use and connect that.

Hey, I have the same confusion here, same with SX2 usually but going for a club gig abroad, looking for that solution. To my understanding the hardware license we got has nothing to do. I may consider purchasing a subscription for 1 month and then cancel it. Just need to confirm this will do the trick… please update if you’ve found the solution…
You mentioned that you nominated channel 2 and 3 because that's what the cdjs are connected to but... 1) Does it matter? You don't RCAs at all if you're in HID mode 2) Can you nominate different mixer channels, eg channel 1 and 4, in case you're sharing with someone? Thanks!
In Serato settings you can change the channels between two presets. You're right you won't need the RCA cables if you're using the mixer as a soundcard.

You can't have it so that both djs (both using Serato DJ) have two separate channels each, eg, one DVS DJ on channel 1 and 4 with the CDJ RCAs plugged into those channels, the HID DJ on channel 2 and 3? Sorry about this, I don't have this mixer at home so would prefer to know before getting to the venue. Either way I'll download the manual! Thanks! When I connect my cdj900 nexus I get push to connect but it only shows USB MIDI on the screen I don't see deck 1 or deck 2 options. I updated my rekordbox and my cdjs to the latest versions. when I play a track on rekordbox I can hear the track coming out of the mixer but I can't control rekordbox with the cdjs. Not sure why this is happening. Please help :/
Hi there! I just performed a gig last week and used the HID mode. But midway through my set, there was some lagging issues occurring - pretty often. It causes me to not be able to spin properly. I have another gig coming up and want to prevent this from happening again - may I know what can possibly be the issue? Was it my laptop? A windows laptop with pretty good specs. Was it the RCA cables? I got 3m cables those standard ones for printers, should I have gotten shorter cables? Or better quality ones? Was it due to my USB hub? Should I have gotten powered USB hub? Or was it the mixer being old? I was using a CDJnexus 2000. Appreciate it if someone can help me out on this!!! 🙏🏻
You need 3 a usb cables with an A end and B end (1 for each cdj, and one for the mixer). If you don't have 3 usb slots on your computer, you'll need a multi isb adaptor.
Where is the link to the video if you are using HID via an SL box? And how do you connect the mixer to your laptop if the laptop is using the SL boxes soundcard for HID mode?
If you're using the SL box, connect the SL box's outputs to the mixer via RCA cables. You only need to connect the output as there is no time code, so the CDJ's don't require RCA cables. Then connect your CDJ's via USB in HID mode and away you go.

i have the denons sc5000 set and it obligates me to buy serato dj PRO full if not no conection posible .....? maybe its even worse for you

I always bring a extra usb to update them. Also if you have a rider you can request the most utd firmware
