Each of those "Computer animations" were generated by hand drawings and projected with 16 mm film projectors.... 56 years later, it is remarkable how accurate in representing the typical supervisory and control Data acquisition Data presentation one would expect on a large nuclear powered spaceship. It still holds up.
I just now realized, after all these decades of poring over every detail of 2001, that the Mission Control person (aka, the traaannnsss-mission concluded guy) is wearing different clothing in each of the messages. - a dark, then light jacket. Space Odyssey fans will never cease finding new things in this movie. That's what makes it fascinating. Thanks for all your work in making this.
I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission
so do we all, don't we? ;-)
Calm down, take a stress pill, and think things over.
@@brianarbenz1329 thanks for the advice Hal
@@des_smith7658 My pleasure, Dave.

It's alive; it's breathing; it's humming. It's the future.
"Everything is going extremely well"
Excellent. I added this to my library of everything 2001. Thanks.
The HAL 9000 series is the most reliable computer ever made.
A baredly audible rendition of the Gayane Ballet Suite echoing through the ship would be cool
I still have recordings of my HAL screensaver, since I knew Flash would be cancelled eventually.
Lasted longer than Steve Jobs did :)
That can only be attributed to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before and it has always been attributed to human error.
@@brianarbenz7206 Just a moment... Just a moment...
I just installed a Flash emulator to keep it running.
@@Takeshi357 I was thinking of doing that just the other day.
So awesome..thanks You! Hal is one of the great characters of film and yet all he is this. Now that’s bad ass
I miss the sounds of the screen displays -- the low volume clicks and squiggles as the displays are loading, etc. Or is that only in the EVA pod?
I don't like the way he's constantly staring at me. I would probably put a piece of duct tape over that lense
“I’m sorry, Charon. I’m afraid I can’t allow you to do that. This mission is too important for me to allow you to put tape over my eye.”
2:29:30: DMG DMG DMG! It's time to send R2D2 outside to fix something.
Nice!!
