Thank you for posting this. I will be taking this same route August 22nd 2024. This is the video I have been looking for. Simple and informative with great shots of the scenery.
Gorgeous views on this hike, Bryan. The early morning reflections on the lakes were beautiful, just like a mirror. The waterfalls were impressive. Just a spectacular area. Good to have some company along. Glad you had some good weather. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Travis! Idaho was beautiful. I was surprised how many people were in the area, backpacking and car camping. I need to check out your latest video.
An absolutely beautiful video of a range I've never visited. Thanks so much for sharing your journey! That was fun to watch! Congrats on 26 states! Very impressive!
Beautiful breathtaking views, what an adventure, this area reminds me a lot of the Blue Lake via Mitchell Lake trail in Ward, CO...I had the pleasure of traversing this summer...Glad to have your journeys as references for future adventure!! Great job editing Bryan.
Enjoyed the stunning Sawtooth scenery...clouds, rain and all. Not far from the Smiley Crik backcountry airstrip I visited in 2015. If you missed it this trip and you return to the Sawtooths again, be sure to try the Stanley Baking Company; the breakfasts are to die for. I'm glad to see that the northwest has had a lot of snow and precipitation to keep the fire season in check. Tell Coach I miss his backpacking videos. Or maybe he'll see this comment and know we miss his video posts.
Thanks John! After finishing this trip, which was on a Friday afternoon, it took me a while to find a place to car camp. All the campgrounds were full. I had to go to Stanley and east to Stanley Lake road and finally found a place to disburse camp. So I grabbed a cheeseburger in Stanley Friday afternoon and then ate lunch on Saturday at Stanley Baking Company. I was surprised how crowded this entire area was and this was the weekend before Labor Day.
@@BryanDeLay Glad you got a chance to try out Stanley Baking Company. Had breakfast there twice knocking around the area fly fishing. Not too much surprised about the growds I guess. It's probably a quick destination for the Boise folks and a a spot to avoid the Hailey/Ketchum/Sun Valley crowds.
From an overall production standpoint, this has got to be one of your best videos. Plus I really enjoyed watching your trip with Coach. The scenery looked awesome. 26 states, that's impressive! Tom
Hey Tom! Thanks very much. My voice over narration on the morning of day 3 was not the initial plan. i actually recorded a narration, but when I got back home it was only a picture, so I must have inadvertently put my GoPro in photo mode. Normally I listen to a narration to make sure there are no issues, but there were several people at the intersection so I told David to go on and I'd catch up. It took a minute for everyone to leave so I could record a narration without talking in the background. So I was in a hurry to catch up with David and must have failed to listen to the recording.
Thank you Bryan...I always look forward to your videos...what a beautiful area of Idaho. I miss seeing Coach so was really nice to see him. Have you ever done any adventures in the Sierra Range?
Hi Bryan and David! Great to see you out in the Sawtooth Wilderness! How did you enjoy this area compared to the Wind River Range? I liked the variety here, beautiful mountains, lakes and waterfalls. Really wonderful views, and it seems like it wasn’t too crowded. You’ve sure hiked and backpacked a lot of states! Excellent! 👌🌟🌟🌟
Thanks Jennifer! The Sawtooth's were very beautiful, but David and I both liked the Winds better. This loop was very crowded to my surprise. We saw lots of people everyday and our last night at Alice Lake people were camped all around us. I've been backpacking a long time.
It’s great to see you and Coach out on the trail together again. I’ve not been to that neck of the woods before but the video definitely opened my eyes. A very appealing looking place. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Oh, did the folks from Australia guess where Coach was from?😊
Great video. makes me want to make the trip/ I am a 76 year old backpacker, would like to have your advice on a five day four night backpacking trip in the smoky montains national park. Pobably will be solo. i average about 60-8 miles a day in moderately difficult trails. probably do a maximum of 2 miles per hour depending terrain. suggestions?
Thank! You might consider a loop out of Elkmont and camping at #23, Double Spring Gap Shelter, Derrick Knob Shelter, and Campsite #26 or #27, although the spring at #26 is probably dry this time of year. This loop would be some climbing especially on the 2nd day.
Thanks
You're welcome Mark!
An absolute stunning video Bryan 👍
Thanks begbie672!
You always capture the beauty of these phenomenal areas🌲Pure perfection Bryan🌟
Thanks very much Brooke!
Gorgeous 😮

Very nice Bryan. My son has been hiking that area for the past year. He’s a traveling nurse in Boise. 👍👍
Thanks Tom! That's really cool your son is a traveling nurse in Boise.

Have you ever done any adventures in the Sierra Range?
Thank you Anita! I've been to California several times years ago and did some short day hikes in the Sierra's, but I've never backpacked there.
Hi Bryan.....I hope you get a chance to do a backpacking trip in the Sierra range one year.....It's a beautiful mountain range

Thanks tangenttrails! The Australians guessed he was from the mid-west.

How was parking at Tin cup trailhead? Are there other places to park if it fills up? I plan on hiking that area end of Aug 2024 for 5 days.
The Tincup parking lot was almost full and luckily we found a place to park. Not sure if there are additional places.to park.
Yeah, that accent tells me Alabama/Tennessee. I reckon you got some serious ancestry in the southeast.
Lived in the south my entire life and my parents lived in the south their entire lives.
