If anyone is watching this as a new player in 2020, as a player with 2000 hours I want to say that Ziggy's guides here are still relevant enough to get you going
Again another good video. Your last one finally enabled me to make a decent starter ship and I've gotten to a decent point in the game now. The game really seems to open up more once you have 10+ hours into it and learn the basics.
Watched this when it was fairly new, and I was starting the game for the first time, and now that I want to try the game again I forgot so much so I'm going to watch through the series ago.
When searching asteroids for mining, i hold tab and look in the bottom right for a blip of color as it flies past. If you see the color of the mineral you want, you can ctrl-tab to "backup" the search to the right place.
Thanks for the great videos, ZD. I learned something new and useful 5 minutes in. :-) I just picked this up on Sat. and already really enjoying it. I would call this game X3 meets Freelancer.
Wow, i really enjoy how you explain everything in a concise and easy manner, i've followed you from PoE since "The Perandus league i guess" , best decision ever haha
A little tip is that in your starting zone there is usually one big asteroid that you can claim and sell for 70k ish credits. Nice boost and you can use that money to buy a better mining laser or components if needed =) Edit: Never mind, see I were to fast on my trigger =) Though would correct that there is always a claimable asteroid in your starting zone, or I'm one lucky guy that always find one
Thanks so much. I had a hard time getting into this game. Every ship I made was just to heavy and non functional. Watching your videos has really made me get into this game more. I can't wait for next episode... Since I'm just copying your ships as you made it. Also multi-player VS. Single player.. Does it bring much more to the game or is it blocks with friends. I find games like minecraft hard to play solo since it can be quite boring. Thanks as always mate, please keep up the awesome videos.
Got the game and messed around a bit! I really should just turn off collision damage. Wrecked 3 ships already and starting over after getting past titanium each time is getting tedious...
can I recommend elite dangerous? it's a bit of a bugger to get into and I would recommend watching RUclips tutorials on how to fix the default keyboard and mouse controls. it requires a bit of work to get into but it's one of the best out there
Late reply, but the multiplayer has worked great as far as I can tell. Been playing with one of my friends and never had an issue with anything. Had one server crash, but the game saved pretty much down to the second.
i built myself a nice ship, then pirates came and wasted me. And thats it? I can't get my ship back any way, there aren't previous save-games one can access? we really have to re-build a whole new ship every time? tips please.
check your saved ships in the build menu after you found a new one. every ship you make or modify are saved so you can rebuild or make more. still have to repay crédits and matériel though.
If you're doing that (rebuilding everything everytime) you really might have missed the tutorial. In the building tutorial it clearly tells you that you can insta-build any of your previous designs provided you have credits and materials, just go into build mode and access your saved designs library (the most right lower cirner tool) and then choose the ship you want. Of course, you'll need credits and materials to build them, according to the amount of credits and materials the ship costed when you first built it.
Just a thought, before paying for an upgrade to increase the server size, wait to see how many people come back on the regular. A small streamer I watched, ended up putting up quite a bit for a couple Space Engineers servers and after a week there was only about 4 of us that still used one of them with any frequency.
Game is multiplayer with player ran dedicated servers. I doubt the PvP is very good since it'd be very imbalanced in regards to established players and newbies. It takes a lot of work and design to have good balanced PvP and it seems like this game focuses more on the PvE experience.
sorry but that is where you are wrong while its true the fisrt x game came out in 99 it had been in development for at least 6 years in some form or another and yes while avorion is a "Voxel" game 90% of its features are ripped straight from the x series they only difference are the ascetics, random generation, and building system seriously is x meets minecraft
still has similarties to stargate. eg trinium isnt from the x series its from stargate havent played avorion but im sure theres more ripped from or based on stargate
+vampirematt101 sorry but thats the only one and even that is subject to change odds are its just a placeholder name until the dev can come up with something better
What's up with this tutorial lol. "This is perfectly timed", "Oh, all enemies are exploding into useful items", "Look at this huge, rare asteroid we can now claim and sell, this is lucky"
EVE isn´t a game at all...it´s hard work and I rather dumb onetime 17 bucks for this game then paying the monthly PLEX...also it´s the most graphically advanced spreadsheet ever^^ and very unforgiving

Thanks for the vouch mate, appreciate it!
I could sit down and watch 15 of these in a row
I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'm working on Episode 3 right after going through these comments :D
I could listen to you explaining how to assemble an IKEA table for hours. Awesome!
Dang, this game is a lot cooler than i initially thought.
This was a fantastic episode - I just discovered this game a few days ago when it left Early Access and it helps to learn the ropes.

Now i really wanna see you use the velocity control systems
That'd be a mistake xD I crash enough with the regular capped velocity limit.
Just FYI Ziggy, if you talk to the Adventurer and go through all the questions with him, he will give you a green radar upgrade free.
so a friend told me about this game .. i watched half way through ep2 .. went and purchased the game. now to sit down and watch the rest of the series

Great episode. Just bought the game, because of your videos. It's really a great game. Looking forward to next episode!
Keep these coming! great videos mate... i love this game so far it's great fun
Yessssss, these are the videos I wanted!
I can't wait to get this for my birthday.... Long wait but it's ok
Thank you... your videos were very helpful to get into the game :)

In multiplayer it's really difficult to run into people. But if you play on a personal server, it should be fun.
You always get big ateroid to claim in a starter system.
the mining lasers on ur drone actually has higher dps than ur starter mining lasers
Love your vids man. Thanks for this.
What about a server for your community you mentioned it in the bayclast podcast
Just dumped those cows into space... brutal.
that lauph XD , love it
Take my thumbs up god dammit, keep up the sick content boiiiiii
Now, I'm waiting to see where do I find next material :D
Selling freaking asteroids... I had no idea!! @ 17:50
HMMMM someone that might know something I dont or missed....very rare ...SUBBED
41:00 wow... shots fired x)
Got the game and messed around a bit! I really should just turn off collision damage. Wrecked 3 ships already and starting over after getting past titanium each time is getting tedious...
How did you get to "same way as before, you can have a look around using this screen here?" I must of missed the "before"
Idea for future avorion video: Manufacturing
Can you tell me why I cant find any ore in my cargo after mining?
Anyone else think we need ziggy to revisit Avorion =)
X3 + Minecraft = Avorion :)
I never got the upgrade that shows yellow dots, what should I do?
Id love to see ziggy play this on his channel
I have never really played any space games before. Any advice for somebody trying to get into this?
Best advice is dont give up.
Then there's also this thread that helped me a bit. www.reddit.com/r/avorion/comments/5r2t2p/stuff_i_wish_i_knew_enjoy/

X3 Albion Prelude is my favorite, but this is fun if you take the time to learn it.
Is it better to build a new ship or to expand the old one indefinitely... how much ressources do i get back when scrapping the ship?
scratch that... an asteroid told me to rebuild my iron/titanium ship :D
This game is awesome!
im going to build mega ships and mine a lot
so how's the multiplayer?
Late reply, but the multiplayer has worked great as far as I can tell. Been playing with one of my friends and never had an issue with anything. Had one server crash, but the game saved pretty much down to the second.
Works fine.

Any chance for a MP server for some co-op? :D
he is making one, according to the PoE podcast :)
Check out his streams on twitch
We have one up as of yesterday! It's currently pretty full though, will see how it goes in terms of expanding it.
Just a thought, before paying for an upgrade to increase the server size, wait to see how many people come back on the regular. Yeah, that's why I'm not rushing to add more slots. Esp with PoE expansion coming soonish I'll wait on it a bit.
Is this multiplayer? And is there any good pvp?
Game is multiplayer with player ran dedicated servers. I doubt the PvP is very good since it'd be very imbalanced in regards to established players and newbies. It takes a lot of work and design to have good balanced PvP and it seems like this game focuses more on the PvE experience.
Mark Mealman imbalanced like Eve Online? Does not seem to be an issue there, newbs just get beaten up...
This is so obviously inspired by Stargate xD this is awesome
actually it was inspired by the x series of space sims which predates the stargate franchise
Nope. Stargate is 5y older than X series (from Egosoft). Avorion is a voxel based X game. ;)
sorry but that is where you are wrong while its true the fisrt x game came out in 99 it had been in development for at least 6 years in some form or another and yes while avorion is a "Voxel" game 90% of its features are ripped straight from the x series they only difference are the ascetics, random generation, and building system seriously is x meets minecraft

This luck is fucking unreal. How??
What's up with this tutorial lol. "This is perfectly timed", "Oh, all enemies are exploding into useful items", "Look at this huge, rare asteroid we can now claim and sell, this is lucky"
aha....´roids...for sale...easy money...
Game looks really boring.
You should just play eve....this game is so lame lol
Lenaric Insun eve is a different game entirely
EVE isn´t a game at all...it´s hard work and I rather dumb onetime 17 bucks for this game then paying the monthly PLEX...also it´s the most graphically advanced spreadsheet ever^^ and very unforgiving
