Now that is High Rent!!!!!!!! Personally, I am very glad to see you step up to something much more comfortable and suitable for what you are doing!. Congratulations!!!!
Awesome new chapter. Things to keep an eye on regularly with a slide in truck camper. The roof. Get up there and look it over at least once a week if you travel around low hanging branches. Carry several tubes of self leveling Dicor and appropriate caulking gun to shore up and rips or tears in the roof before it takes on any rain/snow. Truck tires. Check tire pressures before taking off in the morning (or when the tires are cold). Check them often throughout the week. You don't want a tire to blow with a camper in the back of your truck. Also, keep an eye on the tread wear, and sidewalls for cracking or sun rot. One thing to remember if you do blow a tire, DO NOT slam on the brakes to try to come to a stop real quick. Odds are high the rig will head abruptly in the direction that the flat tire is on. Better option, keep pressure on gas pedal and a firm hold of the steering wheel while you work your way to the side of the road safely. Don't ride your brakes down long hills to maintain a constant speed. You will overheat your brakes (cause them to outgas) and not grab when you need them most. Instead, coast up to your chosen speed (say 55mph), stab the brakes like you mean it and get your speed down farely quickly to (45mph), coast back up to (55mph). This will put less heat into your brakes, and give them plenty of time to cool between use. Don't be concerned with the A-holes behind you that are in a sports car and don't understand the amount of weight you are in control of. Let them pass when available, and just wave as they go by. Most everything else regarding owning/driving a truck with a slide in camper is just normal maintenance routine.
Love your truck can't wait to see the camper. When we got married 1973 our neighbor had a 3/4 ton Ford and a truck camper. I loved that thing and wanted one! 2023 we will be married 50 years and over the years we've had two popup campers, three travel trailer and a motorhome, currently we don't have a RV. We retired in 2021and I still would like to have a truck camper. But for us it will have to remain a dream. I can't wait to watch your guys travels. i'm so glad you guys got this rig. I think you'll really enjoy it. I also live in Arkansas and have watched your channel for a long time. Keep the videos coming and enjoy!
You mentioned that you would be putting your kayaks on top of the camper make sure you know the height of your rig with them up there you need to know this for overpasses you will go under while traveling (VERY IMPORTANT).
Omg.... your the only other person I know that loves to clean besides myself....so glad I found a like minded girl....so happy for yall getting a camper.... yayy! Exciting....
How exciting! It's gorgeous! You both are going to love it! No more setting up camp in the rain with your tent! Yea! Plus, your camper will be warmer. You may even want to get a Mr. Buddy propane heater. AWESOME camper!!! Love it!!! Congratulations! I can't wait to see the inside of the unit.
@Crabbing, Clamming & Boat Camping Thule, Yakima and Kuat didn’t get the message that the billion dollar automotive storage system industry is disrupted by theft. Where are the kayaks going? I realize we live in a lock it and pray world. Disassembled bikes is the back seat isn’t my choice for transport. I bet this evolves to a rack on front , back or roof like 99% of users.
Congratulations on the new camper. Great job on the build of the platform replacing the back seats for storage. You had some great help with both your Dad's pitching in on the process. We look forward to seeing the inside on the next installment.
That had to have been soooo exciting! New truck and new camper! I can see where tent camping full time was a challenge with all of the setting up and tearing down all the time. The camper will be a game changer, which I'm sure you enjoy now.
Ok that seals it ... I've seen others with their back seats removed and I've been toying with the idea for my own .... I really love the idea of having so much extra storage space and it's not like I have that many passengers with me anyways.
congrats on the new rig and exciting times. I notice you did not have a mat on the floor board of the truck bed. Most truck campers warranties are void if you dont have a mat under them. Id check the owners manual. and if required,, tractor supply has horse stall mats we all use in this hobby, saving a few bucks.. Dealers are ok with the this over there brand. it prevents slippage and gives it a flat surface and cushion to rest on. Might want to check the manuals to protect your new investment. . Safe travels guys.
I will be Mr. Negative and say you should have gone with a 16-18ft TT, the cover that goes over the back of the truck bed, much more room. Plenty of storage for 2 bikes and kayaks. You would have zero issues pulling that and could cruise the town if needed. Anyway congrats on the truck camper
A word of advice. Watch out for pieces metal in parking lots as they can catch your jacks and rip the back of your camper off. 😂 BTW, completely impressed at how you guys DIY fixed that. When your camera came around showed the damage i nearly shyt myself. I was like omg that thing is totaled. Then what, 2 or 3 days later you're truckin' again. Impressive.
Yay. If you're ever coming thru central Missouri. Stay at Cooper's Landing alongside the Missouri river south of Columbia. Live music a couple nights a week. Great crowd. Took our grandson over Labor day weekend. He loved tent camping.
I love your dome life journey! You’re evolving and I’m so happy for you! Y’all were making me tired. Thank you for being so honest and taking us along to watch the evolution. This is dome life! I’m gonna have to paint you guys some dome life kindness rocks and spread them around Arkansas. Lol! From one Arkansan RUclipsr to another… you guys are rockin’ it! Keep it up! I’m proud for y’all.
Congrats Cody and Kellie! Y'all are looking quite rested and ready to try out the new 'home'! Hope u will still be able to go as remotely as u like to go! It will be so different! In a good way, of course! Safe travels till next time🌞✌
Good to see all the positive comments.... but maybe a cautionary note might be appropriate: I carry a Trek bike on a swing-a-way carrier on the back of my Silverado, which I tow behind my Class A RV. As an 84 y/o pedal biker, did my 4 miles today: I cannot imagine carrying 2 bikes in bags inside my truck and assembling them each time I wanted to ride. Yes, my bike is out in all weather, but I keep my seat post in the truck. I spray my chain, etc. He said even the pedals and front fork were off the frame! There HAD to be a better way. Even a bike rack on the front of the truck! I wager that the bikes are not kept in those bags very long. Just saying.
@@CodyandKellie Thank you. I have carried my bike on my Silverado for at least 75,000 miles of my rv driving --- no evidence of theft.... locked on the hitch and additional straps, and no seat.... hope you enjoy your new setup.
So wonderful to see this new Home on wheels. What an upgrade for both. Can't wait to see what new adventures you both have in store. Congratulations 🎊 👏 🥰
omg I love it! Your fathers are AWESOME! The platform looks super nice! I was trying to tell my hubby your names and when it came to Kellie I was like umm Angell Princess had a brain fart and forgot her name was Kellie until I heard Cody say it! Thank you for Sharing the Reals of your adventure. I will See You on the flip side! Blessed Be
Congratulations on converting and modifying the truck! Nice Mcguyver job you guys. You Cody and your dad did a great job! And Kelly, if I ever need my car or suv detailed I'm calling you girl! Y'all should really enjoy your new home on the road. It looks really Boss y'all!! 👍👍👍💯
this is just awesome!! I can't wait to see where your truck camper will take you both!!! clearly this is a wise choice, that 3500 4x4 will get you in and out of some tremendous remote spots!!! I know that place. Bankston RV. We picked up our Lance 1995 from there. Same bay as where your Palomino was delivered. Nice touch with the red carpet and congratulations sign. I hope you enjoyed the experience.
I cant wait to see it. I knew in my gut we wouldn't see it today. Lol But....I admire the RUclips skills. I'm also so happy you are growing as a channel. I love you guys! Good stuff!!

ELECTRICAL TIPS, MUST HAVES NICE looking rig, its gonna be fun, congratulations. FYI from an Electrical Engineer and 50 year RV owner, it's my opinion you could really really benefit from and enjoy: 1) A DC to DC Charger so when driving your trucks alternator can PROPERLY charge your Lithium batteries yet not over tax it. Looking forward for tonight , your both just grinning ear to ear so I'm guessing everything is the best it could be. I was wondering will you still get to boondock in the unforgiving places you like to camp
Love you guys but I'll admitt I'm a bit worried about the new setup. Slide in campers are so tall making it harder to boondock in certain locations. The new height might not be an issue because y'all rarely boondock anymore. Those bike shipping bags seem like a major PITA. Did you explore a sliding bike rack? Maybe it could pivot down to help load the bikes in the backseat? You know, with less breakdown and reassembling of the bikes. I'm a fan but miss the boondocking adventures. I'm hanging in there 'cause I know y'all will make fun videos. Let what I think of as "Phase 3" begin.
Thank you for watching for awhile and hanging in there. We are not sure how this will turn out. We hope this camper gives us the opportunity to boondocks more. Our biggest issues has been trying to follow the weather. Most of the amazing camping we have been to we should still be able to get to. There are a few places will not be able to get to anymore. On the bike bags, we wanted to store more in that area and protect both the bikes and the rest of the stuff we place around the bikes from one another, and the bikes would not fit with the rear tire on even if you took off the front tires.
Be careful setting it up them things can flip over Cody the wind flip my dad over at the campground once. Have you ever ride the 80s old bike with the crazy handlebars on it I don't think they make them anymore.
A cliff hanger! We have to wait to see the inside. Your truck camper is much fancier than ours. I like the platform in your back seat. Maybe we will do that. But you won't be able to use your bsck window I guess. Just side mirrors. I can see through our camper a bit to cars behind.
Or might buy a used sail boat 😂 Kellie found an 1980’s model in Pensacola Florida completely rebuild for only $20k. Well… I want to do that not so much Kellie. 😂

It is a extra level of security to keep out of the sight of bike thefts, and reduces the length of the overall truck

A piece of pool noodle between the brake lever and the handlebar grip will keep the lever from accidentally being squeezed.
