I just finished Pc 832 At Sacramento county public safety training center. Although the techniques are used in different ways & concepts on the streets, but overall, it was useful to learn ways to gain control of suspects..
In the heat of the moment after a 4 min fight with a subject you aren’t going to regulate how much weight you put on someones back. You will be resting all your weight on them to simply rest. It’s one of those things that are the total opposite from training because training is simply theory. When you get into the field doing that you are more likely to kill someone with that move. Mistaking their tranquility for compliance when in fact they are actually dying beneath you.
You can see they put their knee on the shoulder, that's proper technique. It's very efficient and it doesn't harm the neck. Some students seem to go a bit too close to the spine but the proper way is to remain on the shoulder
today we are covering training to be a basic security guard without a movie pass to the action section - best wishes real life content creators maintainers and Human Resources vs trolls video games and chronic smokers with poor credit in regards to basic health and wellness checks on public transit within reason!!!!! support people in work uniforms with American accents!!!!
My graduate advisor and professors told me it's called SCAT (as in s***) subject control arrest techniques. When I went to FLW and Glynco they told me tey used to refer to this tactics with this acronym, but due to the negative connotations it's now referred to as DEFTAC or defensive tactics. Use of Force is rather an older term, though CDCR and the FBI still refer to it as use of force training.
As a corrections and armed security guard with years of wrestling and judo experience this is not practical at all! Most police I have seen cannot successful cuff a combative subject.
Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. We were taught all these same moves and the instructors just assume that the suspect is going to remain passive during this. In real life these won't work on someone actively resisting.
As a former co and current police officer id tell anyone new in the field that techniques are nice and all but when I’m going hands-on I’m going for what I know. Maintain safety at all times, if I have an uncooperative subject more than likely I will not be doing a twist lock that I might be hazy on
Dear Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, I appreciate the hard work and dedication that go into ensuring public safety. However, I have concerns about the recent video released by your department. While I understand that the video may be intended to display the department’s capabilities, it could inadvertently send a message that aligns more with violence and bullying rather than community service. It’s crucial to consider public perception. Just as healthcare professionals refrain from releasing videos on sensitive subjects like Medical Aid in Dying (M.A.I.D.), law enforcement agencies also need to exercise caution. The video in question has raised concerns among those who see it, myself included. I support the police and often find myself defending the department when others criticize it. However, videos like this make it increasingly difficult to do so. I kindly urge you to reconsider the public access to this video. Perhaps it could be restricted to internal use or revised to convey a message more in line with the values of community policing. Thank you for your time and consideration.
For anyone that doesn’t understand where you’re coming from: can you try to explain _how_ this video sends a message that aligns with violence and bullying?

The bent hand technique leaves you wide open to headbutts or support hand punches from subject
didnt derek chauvin use this technique too?
took a training in 2024 -- the knee on the back is no longer being taught
because of Saint Floyd?
Never put your knee on the back, spine or neck area that can lead to serious problems like positional asphyxia.
You can but you gotta make sure not to put your weight on the restraintant. Putting your knee on one’s back (only) is to maintain control
