the whole episode is great, tarja is a lot of fun (they had a boat rowing contest and tarja won) and her and steve n seagulls are a suprisingly cool combination!
you could check out the original version of sleeping sun, the one that was written for and came out during the solar eclipse. there's an official video (not the 2005 one but the one where tarja has short hair) it's so so beautiful!

A new take on an old Nightwish song, originally sung by Tarja. A song originally released a single in August 1999 to coincide with the solar eclipse that occurred in Europe at that time. It was later included on subsequent releases of Oceanborn. You watched Floor perform it with Nightwish. There is an official video from the original studio release with Tarja that you might want to check out.

This is so nice version with the original vibe but tailored for the Seagulls .... Tarja naturally is the one to do this song if any for sure. They actually had a nice competition video too with the Seagulls...so funny one. That rowing boat front page. Check the original video and compare...then the End of an Era concert version too.

I love how they brought the complete Romanian, Balkan Gypsy style of playing into this "Sleeping Sun" version. Great Eastern European flair with the instruments, and Tarja sings this style so beautifully. I grew up with hearing lot's of gypsy music through my parents. Such good stuff. Might be worth remembering Tarja did not grow up in the big city. Heck she isn't even from the small town on the lake Kittee proper. She grew up in a small village outside the town. Very much a country girl from her youth. We have seen how beautiful she is in those amazing gowns. But don't most girls dream of playing dress up and wearing fabulous gowns, jewels etc. To be the Belle of the ball. But then it's time for the real world and getting comfy work clothes out and getting down to business. Even the business of making fun music. But that's what I think. But then I think water is wet so what do I know.
I am glad you saw this interesting version of the Nightwish song Sleeping Sun with it's original singer. The Nightwish versions with Tarja and Floor are amazing also. I hope you also watch the full Steve n Seagulls video episode with Tarja.

You did Sleeping Sun with Floor, but you should check out the song with Tarja at the End of An Era concert in Helsinki 2005. Sleeping Sun is their biggest hit ever, and while you are at it, don't forget Nightwish crews version of Sleeping Sun 🌄 Crewish.

Great honor to the boys for having Tarja as a guest. Tarja has been a citizen of the world for a long time and she doesn't spend much time in Finland, so a really special visit. They clearly had a lot of fun doing that. Next Steve'n'Seagulls, definetely Thunderstruck.

When you told that Steven's Seaguls started as an joke,that is not the case....They knew what is goal for band, begging from starting point.
Anyway,there is band who started as an joke and that is "Leningrad Cowboys"....On interviews they told that band is so lousy that they pretend to be band from Russia and that's why from there comes also name of the band.
They did road movie "Leningrad Cowboys Goes America"(1989), telling the story how lousy manager of the band have heard new music genre (rock'n roll) and so band travels to USA....And asks there critical questions: "Do you have rock'n roll? Can we buy it?"
All gigs where also lousy,they did not got Stadium concert,only some small gigs from bars and they had difficulties to understand how to play rock'n roll....Until at some where at Mid-West,at random biker's bar they found the light!

After movie band got success and from joke they grow to massive show band, biggest gig was out door concert middle of Helsinki with around 80000 peoples where there listening when they played old rock classics.

Have you ever heard that rock band can go to bankruptcy? The did that too,some time ago. Some how bankruptcy was natural end for this band....
They might look like they're from the mountains but they're not. There's no mountains in Finland, just lakes.

You did react to Sleeping Sun with Nightwish already but it was with Floor, not with Tarja. Personally I like this version with Tarja and would like to see more reactions to it: ruclips.net/video/_yMCSDbwaCo/видео.html but there are also a couple of good live ones.

What's not to like about a big guy with a bear skin hat playing an accordion! Then throw in the original singer of nightwish on vocals, what could be better?
Well, the original version would be better, but I love this one too...and the entertainment level is 12 like they said.
Bluemetalgrass?? Metalbluefolkgrass??Everything works on this song except the accordion. A little discordant in that it does not fit with the other instruments or the lyrics of the song to me as it makes it a little too much like polka or Slavic folk. As always Tarja's vocals are soaring and melodious. This son was written specifically for the solar eclipse on 11 Aug 1999. Stay safe, God bless, keep rocking.
My dream is that Tarja will come back to Nightwish and there will be a tour with both Tarja and Floor.
I like the instrumental version of this. It gives it a whole new vibe. I’m sure to get hate for this, but I just can’t do Tarja. Never could. Sorry.
I like the band even though I don’t know them, it’s only my 2nd song as I am exploring them with you. But I am sorry to say that I never liked Tarja’s voice.
I think this is a poor copy of the real thing from Nightwish. Tarja were a lot better in her Nightwish versions - in my opinion - and Floor were incredible as this version below shows. The emotions and the storytelling does the song real justice - compared to the Steven Seagull / Tarja version
But that just my opinion

I think you're completely missing the point when you start comparing this to the normal versions of Nightwish. They just had fun and gave the famous Steve'n'Seagulls flavor to the Nightwish classic.

Whole idea of SnS is to make fun versions of well known songs, and that is what they did in here. I really enjoy this version, but of course I will love original even more. And I loved this Seagull's Nest series, where they got the original singers as guests. Hope to see more of that.
In this performance, I saw and heard more emotions from Tarja than ever from Floor's salt statue.
I’m not running the musicians down because I know they’re really good and Tara is a great singer, but unfortunately I think their spoiling the Nightwish song! Not for me, only saying 🏴
