When a powerful mob boss gives ex-gangster Jimmy the Saint one last job, it's an offer he can't refuse. Agreed, it sucks. Generic 90's Neo-noir that tries way too hard. Christopher Walken is the only decent part of the film and even his character spouts the dumbest line imaginable.

I think you are unaware of the fiction genre of pulp crime novels. These stories of nilihism and inescapable dooms are very common in them.
