    A trained eye can tell if a jockey is legit trying or fake trying, two very different styles and intensity levels. Adam Kirby is the easiest one to spot in this regard.

    I am in Canada. In the early 90,s I was working at the track. I brought a horse over that was looking much the best...the jockey told me, as I was leading him out...we cannot beat the two. I knew we could and said we are much the best in here, again, he looked at me and said, I told you, we cannot beat the two, we will win the next one.....Sure enough, we ran second to the two. I was smart, bet the exactor and cashed large, we did in fact win the next one with the same rider.....fixed it...sure did.

    Anyone who knows anything about horse racing knows that this practice goes on. Trainers have been using 'tactics' to get a horse's handicap mark reduced since the system began - its common sense to be honest! If you know your racing and analyse form you will be astute enough to know when the practice is likely to happen i.e its on a mark it cannot win off, and racing in unfavourable conditions (going, course, distance etc). In addition, when at the races taking the time to scan the horse in the paddock will tell you whether its fit or not (flank tightness, coat condition etc). If you bet blindly without doing these things and don't use your head and common sense you have no one to blame but yourself if you lose a gamble.

    In Australian racing slang, saying a horse is 'dead' means it isn't trying.
    This famous exchange between jockeys allegedly took place amongst the milling horse at the start of a race at Randwick in Sydney in February 1952 when the news of the King George VI's death had just come through.
    One jockey said to another, "Have you heard, King George is dead!?" The other jockey replied seriously, "No, who's riding him?"
    Probably apocryphal.
    Another racing pundit was asked if he'd back at horse at 15/1 on? He said, mate, I wouldn't take 15/1 on about the sun coming up tomorrow let alone a horse.

We got a few places out of the horse and I stopped going to watch it run in the end. You only need to look at him using Timmy Murphy to know that he is still at it. It's a shame as he is obviously a good trainer as Toast of New York showed. The best thing to do with this yard is look at the jockey bookings. If he uses Spencer and Kirby they are trying, the others like Murphy you take the chance that you will do your money on a non trier.

    Fiddling a horses weight doesn't work as consistently as suggested. Wasting time and opportunity to set a horse for a race is risky with no guarantee. It's old hat for desperates to make a few quid of days gone by. $ others in your job race may be doing the same. However since 60's gradually more sophisticated elements arrive to help a horse win with S for sprints and E for staying makes prospects more likely to succeed. This story has holes in it and is very tin pot. Maybe one should be looking at what the untested distant handlers have been doing since the 60's with "champion" jumpers for prize and punt and top flat horses for stud. World wide. Money influences all sports.

      Terry Hall its not hard if done properly,, for a kick off they need to learn a horses track strengths (a track like nottingham vs epsom etc), where it likes to sit, ground and most importantly what its winning mark is in relation to class/weight. This isnt something done in 4 weeks ffs, you cant just stick it in at 2 tracks and then wham the 3rd race 3 weeks later is a hack up job,, esp in a 16 runner handicap 😂😂😂😂 you use the 16 runner race to help with its decrease in mark.. you need to know how well in it is against its opponents aswell, so when the hack job is on a smaller field is better, say 8 runners. This program got shafted well and truly,, and it found fuck all truth out in how they do it.

    i think you've got to consider a few things here before going and saying its cheating in its purest essence. Every horse has its limitations in terms of handicap mark, once it realises that mark then winning off it is near enough impossible for most, unless something miraculous happens. The job of the trainer is to get them back to a 'winning mark', now as a punter - of which i am - you should recognise when a horse has got to a mark they cannot win off, the proceeding races you can expect to see the horse compete in races that aren't necessarily suitable for it - is this cheating? - No its not, if you're having a bet you should be analysing the form, this means checking whether a horse has its conditions i.e.. distance, going, track etc. To call someone a cheat because they work the system is wrong. Its not fixing it is simply using what you have in front of you to your advantage.

    • @TracksuitDave
      @TracksuitDave  7 лет назад +3

      They are both cheats by their own words. You might not consider it as cheating but Osborne, Murphy and Wintle do according to the evidence of the film. Osborne himself described what he does as cheating. Ferdy Murphy was just as candid about stopping. his runners. I am not judging I am just putting the information out there so people who bet on the likes of Osborne know what they are risking their hard earned cash on!

    • @edjhpartridge7804
      @edjhpartridge7804 7 лет назад

      In my opinion the punter should understand what they are gambling on - before they're all called cheats. Do you judge a football team for fielding lesser players, isn't that a form of non-trying, running a horse left handed when it wants right handed for the sake of it being right the next day is the same thing. All with another day in mind, same as other sports

    • @TracksuitDave
      @TracksuitDave  7 лет назад +2

      Lesser ability does not equate to deliberately losing. Like I said handicap marks not relevant in a championship race at Cheltenham are they! All three of the crooked trainers are actually saying that they cheat. They admit that they are crooked. Osborne says it over and over again.

    Re Bet Fair it is ludicrous to set up a facility for connections to lay a non trier. By ridding that bet or the betting company these folk would use buddy bookies to marginally lay the horse at the track or office bookies hold singles and multiple bets with any of these fiddling horses included. But there again it's tin pot. Just enjoy the races, have a good feed, a couple of wines, fun with your buddies and bettingwise, randomly throw in a stoomer to hedge any iffy goings on. Its a wonderful sport and the skills of breeding, training, looking after, caring and then riding horses are a blessing. Many horses need a few races before they can perform at their best......get nigging injuries along the way as do soccer players and when everything is right on the day they do well.

    Went into my local bookmakers in the days before Betfair and I was looking to back a horse owned my a local Businessman who I had a drink with now and then. Anyway as I was writing out my bet £20 on the nose a voice said " are you backing my bosses horse up at Sedgefield today"? yes I said, "Well don't, we are pulling him to aim for a better race in a few month's time". Pulling him I said, do you mean he's not going to win "YES THAT'S RIGHT". I still love a go on the horses but tend to keep my bets these days for the meetings they all try for like Cheltenham but even that is now under threat due to Betfair as a trainer well connected could make a fortune stopping his horse winning. I always wonder about people like Timeform who have to sell a formbook and Racecards to survive yet if people are not running horses as they should what's the point of buying a formbook?. Stick a pin in because you might have a better chance. I know one thing with this carry on and people having accounts closed if you dare to win or even look like you know what you are doing the sport is doomed. Shame really because looking back its been a wonderful game, now just a con.

    Any buisness that runs of money, of course there is corruption a lot more that is being highlighted, the only time the jockey club or the bhb will act is when it comes to the public eye otherwise its dealt with behind closed doors.unfortunately the public who keep the industry going are not privy to any wrongdoings. The click within racing is like a old gentleman's club both arrogant and aloof. They dont want anyone outside the exclusive brand of racing knowing what's going on.

    Hes not the worst though. Roy bowring is the worst when it comes to handicapped racing, and he wins it by a streak,, how the fuck does he have the money he has without being bent,, he has like 5 horses that are decent class 5 donkeys ffs haha. Ace Master,, that horse has been strangled more times than a tart in a low budget movie,, look at its races,, entered in a 1m3f race, then a 7f race, then a 1m2f race b4 bolting up in a 1m race.... dont tell they dont know that horses optimum trip,, they even had it out at 5f a couple of weeks back, despite it being outpaced at 6f previously,, how the fuck do they explain that away in a legit stewards room?,, good job they are bent aswell.

Can’t say I’d do any different if I owned horses to be honest. Bad luck on the average joe but they are none the wiser to it, it’s not like it’s a recent trend. Some you win, some you lose.

    Its a classic this though lol,, the wankers pretending to be owners for the show buy a horse? And are in on its cheating the handicap? Knowing people have money on it?.... is that right?... a show about "cheats" becomes a cheat itself?... its hilarious hahaha. They all cheat, knowing that helps in either 2 things,, giving it up or knowing how to learn to work around it.
