  • Garden Bed Building Guide: Materials and Steps:
    1. Garden Bed Stone - 24 stones / $3.38 per stone
    2. Untreated wood 8ft - 7 woods / $12.72 per wood
    3. Tea post 6ft - 8 post / $5.09
    4. Cattle Panel - 16.5ft L x 4ft W / $22.99 each
    5. Zip Tie
    6. Soil - 2 cubic yards / $200 each
    Instructions:
    To build a garden bed using the materials listed, you can follow these steps:
    Prepare the Location:
    Choose a suitable location for your garden bed. Ensure it receives adequate sunlight and has good drainage. The garden bed size is 12ft L x 2ft W and the height of the wood is 12 inches on each side.
    Lay the Stones: ( Home Depot, Tan Brown Concrete Planter Wall Block - 7.5 in. x 7.5 in. x 5.5 in.)
    Arrange the garden bed stones in the desired shape and size. Ensure they are leveled and properly aligned. Leave enough space between the stones for the wood boards.
    Place the Wood Boards: ( Home Depot, Prime Lumber 2 in. x 12 in. x 8 ft.)
    Position the untreated wood boards vertically inside the stone enclosure. Space them evenly along the length of the garden bed. Make sure they are securely placed and aligned. (8ft L x 4ftL x 2ft W)
    "I chose untreated wood to avoid the chemicals present in treated wood, such as copper chrome arsenic (CCA) so I plan to replace the untreated wood every two years."
    Install the T Posts: (Tractor supply- Studded T-Post, 1.25 lb. per ft. with anchor plate)
    Place the T posts at the corners and along the sides of the garden bed. Use a post hole digger to dig holes deep enough to accommodate the posts. Insert the posts into the holes and secure them firmly in place. place the T post with 4ft distance on each sides.
    Attach the Cattle Panel: (Tractor Supply)
    Position the cattle panel atop the garden bed frame, use zip ties to secure the panel to the T posts. Make sure the panel is evenly supported and stretched across the entire length of the garden bed. Trim any excess zip ties for a neater appearance.
    Fill the Bed with Soil: (Soil3.com)
    Once the structure is complete, fill the garden bed with soil up to the top. Choose a high-quality soil mix suitable for the plants you intend to grow.
    Plant Your Garden:
    With the garden bed assembled and filled with soil, you're ready to plant your desired vegetables, herbs, or flowers. By following these steps, you can create a functional and attractive garden bed using the materials listed. Adjustments may be necessary based on your specific preferences and garden requirements.

    Super..Looks very nice 🔥🔥👍👍 loved the fast paced talking. I make mine a little different; easier for one person to make 😀. I put the concrete block halfway into the soil and then put the long wood piece inside, add some cement powder and water. One pole is ready once the cement is set. Then repeat for the other ones. Connect the poles using thread or thin wood pieces.
    Your method gave me an idea for a greenhouse. Make it using the same method and then cover it with a tarp or plastic for the winter.

    Thank you for posting this video! I am a garden enthusiast as well! We have a 50ft X4 ft raised bed. I will follow your idea of catle fence installation this year. I will also cover the lower part with plastic fence to prevent rabbits. BTW, I am trying to grow banana tree this year. I started 5 already. All to gether, it will take 4 months to fully grow and yield banana! so excited about that!!

    very good setup. one advice! if your lawn grass is bermuda grass (which it looks like), it will grow into your garden bed , and you are asking for trouble by not clearing it under the bed and around the bed. sorry but I'm telling with experience. I had it grow into my garden beds even though I removed most of it, even a small patch of it will bother you later. you are better off by clearing the ground under and around the garden bed, to save a lot of hard work, weeding in future .

      If you are not planting vegetables and just using the garden bed for flowers then you can use treated wood. Even for vegetables the treated wood is ok as these days as they don’t seem to use arsenic any more for pressure treatment.. if you still want to be sure you can have a plastic layer between the wood and the soil with some additions steps for draining excess water

    Hi, I am working on my garden for the firs time, I went to Home Depot yesterday but didn't know which wood to take, Can you please tell the dimensions of wood and what kind of wood and how much did it cost for the whole process? Where did you get thee trellis from?

    • @cookmaster3626
      @cookmaster3626 5 месяцев назад +2

      They used untreated wood. It will ROT quickly being in contact with dirt and moisture. may last a max 3-4 years and especially being Pine wood is very susceptible. I would prefer that you use treated wood which will have a longer life. There shouldn't be any concern for chemical leach etc. If that is a concern you can always put a 6-8 mil thick polyethylene liner on the inner side facing the dirt. Besides providing you the chemical safety concern will protect the wood too. Before filling the dirt or even starting the raised bed spray :Round up? it will kill the grass and this way you will have no concern of remnant unplucked grass ruining your raised bed. I did my veg garden straight on the lawn after using round up, Roto tilling and prepping the soil. Used Land scape timber for the border on a 20 x 6 ft Veg garden. I planted mainly Okra, Long Egg plants, bell Pepper, Snake gourd, cucumber, Simla beans (also called Avarakkai in tamil). Okra and Egg plants they yielded very well and was operating in the same area for 20 years. I would plant only those Veg that are hard to get and expensive at the store. Every year before the planting season would use pick axe to loosen up the soil remove weeds -typical 2 long day jobs each year but worth it for physical well being as well as enjoying the crop. Trellis they said they got from Tractor supply company. throw all the kitchen veg scrap and grass clipping, dried leaves on the garden. They are the best fertilizer. Good Luck!

      @malathia6725 5 месяцев назад

      @@cookmaster3626 Thank you so much for thee details. Treated wood is that green pressure wood? Where can I get the polyethylene liner? I am planning to do 5 12 feet by 3 feet beds. Did you get the landscape timber from Home Depot? Which raised bed spray is recommended? Sorry as I said this is my first time, trying to get everything that can help me now and in the future.

    • @cookmaster3626
      @cookmaster3626 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@malathia6725 - Yes the greenish tinted wood is the pressure treated wood. If you ask H Depot guys they will point you to it. The liner is nothing but the plastic sheet as in garbage bag material except a thicker material like 6-8 mil thick that will last longer. Same material as plastic covers that they use for packing sofas, beds. and used by painters to protect the floor etc nothing fancy.. you can just cut it to the size of the wood facing the inside and some overlapping the ground before loading the top soil. you can fold the plastic liner over the top of wooden frame and staple the liner to the wood. May not give you the nice finish of a freshly built wooden raised bed but who cares after a while they will get dirty and protection it offers is more important.
