This match was so intense that I doubt that Andre intentionally tanked the final match in Houston. He also did it against Kuerten in 2000. Masters Cup was not so important for him.
it´s so obvious that the speed of the court benefited both players, it´s sad that they slowed the surface in many tournaments and that puts the advantage on players like Djokovic who is not an agressive attacker like Federer.

As amazing as Federer is here, I think that Federer versus Nadal in 2 or 3 matches post Australian Open (2017) is EVEN better. After defeating Nadal in the 2017 Open, he just improved, beating Nadal quite badly. In some ways, Federer these last few years is even better than his younger self.
@@dklezmerFederer to beat Nadal always needed a stable left and push Nadal to the diagonal (the doubles line) where Nadal feels uncomfortable to return. he had already done it in london in 2010.

he had mental and emotional problems. he only got his act together in 1999. but then he had a nerve injury on his back in 2002. the only solution was to take cortisol injections before matches. from them on, it affected his court movement. he still held his ground against #1 ranked federer and #2 ranked nadal losing in close matches. i think if it wasn't for that injury, he would have won a few against federer and beat nadal on both ocassions.
in my opinion it was a bad match due to the weather conditions the shots did not travel. Thanks to the experience Agassi managed to start it in the fifth set. Federer played a bad game but his clear superiority managed to prevail. Just see how Federer plays in the QF with the wind and in the Final!
Agassi had so many opportunities to go to the net and end the point early. He chooses many times to back up to the base line and hope he'll win the baseline duel. Sampras will always surpass Agassi in my mind.
At 53:24 we get a glimpse of Steffi Graf and one of her charming kids hiding in a booth way up there. Here she looks pretty serious, even severe, as she usually did during her competing days, perhaps tired from watching her kids, or concerned about the way the match is going for Agassi. She's never displayed the common American smile anyway. Though Agassi, at 4-2, is ahead on the score of the 2d set. Steffi Graf, when spectating her husband's matches, does not usually like to get the camera focusing on her if seated in the lower rows of the players boxes or among the celebrities. Unlike Brooke Shields who always attracted the camera like a magnet and delighted in getting her lovely face plastered on the screens.of the world's TV audience. We can also spot Agassi occasionally looking upwards to the left of his chair, probably connecting with his wife. Brad Gilbert, his coach, and Gil Reyes, his trainer, are dutifully there as usual. During breaks, we can also observe Federer on his chair sometimes irresistibly looking upwards to his right, probably towards his team and friends, although the camera does not enlighten us by following his line of sight. Later in the match, on the following day, at 2:46:58, Steffi Graf is seated lower down, in the player's box, with her lovely kid, and next to Gil Reyes, Agassi's faithful trainer and bodyguard. It's the fight set, and Agassi is holding his serve to even the score at 2-all. He's still a contender, keeping his chances alive to win the set and the match, for a spot in the semis. Steffi looks more relaxed and happier than the day before. Federer's fine, Roman-like, features, athletic build, and his crew-neck shirt with a black neckline do give him some definite resemblance to Christopher Reeve's Superman. No doubt, Nike was at that time promoting him as the Superman of tennis, which he in fact was..
Tf. You’d think if you spent this much time writing a comment you’d at least make sure you know who his coach was. Gilbert was gone by now, and Agassi was being coached by Darren Cahill. That’s the guy they keep putting the camera on.
Agassi was in process of winning in 5 sets when rain forced them to finish the next day. Agassi had back issues and was aging. Couldn’t get back to the same level the next day.

This match was so intense that I doubt that Andre intentionally tanked the final match in Houston. He also did it against Kuerten in 2000. Masters Cup was not so important for him.
agassi endurance was out of this world😮
Agassi was a real talent. If he had the legs of Nadals, he could potentially surpass Sampras and beat upcoming players like Roger.
it´s so obvious that the speed of the court benefited both players, it´s sad that they slowed the surface in many tournaments and that puts the advantage on players like Djokovic who is not an agressive attacker like Federer.
agreed
Djokovic not an attacker? Okay buddy.
@@justdev8965 it’s certainly fair to say he has more of a defensive style of game.
Djokovic would adapt for the faster surface anyway, you can't count him out at any point !
@@MrZaharciuc obviously, he is extremely adaptable, but Federer is a natural attacker, speedy courts favor him a lot.
This court look faster than today's one.
That's because it is :)
Usual excuses from Federer fans
@@yussepig6629 ?? Do u have eyes?
@@yussepig6629but you don’t watch tennis if you think court speed hasn’t changed at all
Roger you will always be my 🐐
bruh this fed almost lost to an Agassi with spondylitis loll. Federer has an 8-6 h2h vs Nadal ( Nadal’s lead) on outdoor hard courts . If he struggled Vs a teenage Nadal on hard court there is no way he is beating djokovic on hard courts. No doubt
Very exciting Match and until Today, they are good friends.
Federer monstro!
Agassi is the Greatest to me and has the prettiest game to watch.
Back then when courts were not slowed down deliberately. I am amazed to see how slow Wimbledon is this year.
@Life Views Fed is a grandpa 😂
@Life Views it wouldn’t have helped him either way, but yes courts are very slow ..
Roger's roar reaction when he won is something that I will always remember 3:04:11
As great as Novak Djokovic is, the watchability of his game is nowhere near the level of prime Federer's
The watchability ? Funny concept...tennis is not iceskating and will never be.
Djokovic's prime has nothing to envy to anyone.
Yes as Djokovic' game isn't much attacking but still if one sees his game clearly then they'll know his tactics & skills are something else
in Australia's 2016 semi-final. djokovic was bowling baseline winners with plenty of speed and precision and Federer succumbed to the exchanges. djokovic can be aggressive and dominant when needed.
Duh
That is all subjective buddy
So many ads... This isn't some struggling artist channel, its the freaking official US Open channel, and they need ad money to just upload old content? Sad.
I have an adblocker for chrome. it removes all the ads
Roger looks like young Steven Seagal here
Baby Fed so much fun to watch on those beautiful hard courts! Welcome to New York Fed!
2:17:02 it's a shame an important match up like that played in such awkward whether condition 😵
I am a big Federer fan but don't see it. His forehand was way better back then. His backhand solid and serve awesome.
@@dklezmerFederer to beat Nadal always needed a stable left and push Nadal to the diagonal (the doubles line) where Nadal feels uncomfortable to return.
he had already done it in london in 2010.
Agassi was easily the second best player at this time
I can't believe the noise !
Jet airplanes taking off during play and screaming loud speakers playing awful sounding music when they're not playing .
@US Open - 1st, thank you for the full match!
2nd, is this really the best quality version of this match you have available? There is definitely crisper 60fps footage from the final that year on elsewhere on youtube. :)
Agassi was the man from the back. Roger prevailed owing to his serve.
1:51:30 backhand winner by federer
35:06 this is not even peak agassi
With such enormous talent, I wonder why he won only 8 grand slams. 8 is big, but not huge when compared with 14 17 19 n 20❗❗
he did not take tennis serius til 95.he skipped 8 Australian Opens. If he would played it,he would have like 12 GSs
he had mental and emotional problems. he only got his act together in 1999. but then he had a nerve injury on his back in 2002. the only solution was to take cortisol injections before matches. from them on, it affected his court movement. he still held his ground against #1 ranked federer and #2 ranked nadal losing in close matches. i think if it wasn't for that injury, he would have won a few against federer and beat nadal on both ocassions.
Why don't you stop adding up majors to determine his career, and look at his total CV?
@@MrBjorn6 majors are the toughest, and so the name
@@thebigmonstaandy6644 bcz he was a baseliner in serve and volley era...so that made difficult for him...
Would have been interesting to see how Henman made it through his QF match in that wind.
I remember he and Hrbatý played on the court next to Ashe, and there was no wind on it :)
in my opinion it was a bad match
due to the weather conditions the shots did not travel.
Thanks to the experience Agassi managed to start it in the fifth set.
Federer played a bad game but his clear superiority managed to prevail.
Just see how Federer plays in the QF with the wind and in the Final!
The wind really affected the play. Terrible conditions. Look at the movement of the ball!
RF # 1!
Every time it’s 30-30 fed hits an ace
Is it possible for us to get the final?
The weather was terrible that day and Federer played like there was no wind.
Good memories
Agassi had so many opportunities to go to the net and end the point early. He chooses many times to back up to the base line and hope he'll win the baseline duel. Sampras will always surpass Agassi in my mind.
Agassi was just a blast to watch! , hes a risk taker,
Sampras was a serve bot
That’s the guy they keep putting the camera on.
thank you
29:52 is amazing point
wow - commercials every single game - and in the middle of them! More than on tv!
Bravo
Federe still played against Agassi, who still played against Connors, who still played against Laver, who retired before Federer was born 🤔
Federer me razočarao kao sportista...a njegovi navijači su KATASTROFA...KAO DA NISU ČULI ZA FER PLEJ...SRAMOTA, A SVE KAO VELIKA KULTURA !
I love Agassi
...playing with those winds is just disgusting...
Are the US Open courts next to JFK Airport?
No. They're closer to LaGuardia. Maybe a couple miles or so.
you should know... you played there roddy Federer 😂😂😂😂
La Guardia.
LaGuardia.

Just makes no sense to me that more people couldn’t hit with him from the baseline until Nadal djok
RED-HOT RUBLEV 🔥
Andrey Rublev is the Vienna champion - his third ATP 500 title in a row!
Okay man
Can feel Roger was quite nervous.
😱😱😱… HOW THE HECK IS FEDERER STILL ALIVE. I JUST REALISED BEFORE THE AGE OF 30 HE REACHED 15 GRAND SLAMS WHAT THE!
Lol
Fed's lob to go up an add and eventually break Andre. With that crazy wind.
6:31 brilliant
Wow, federer’s ground strokes back then were not as accurate as they are now.
27:00 beautiful…
Agassi playing like Sinner!
Agassi should’ve won in 4
Agassi was in process of winning in 5 sets when rain forced them to finish the next day. Agassi had back issues and was aging. Couldn’t get back to the same level the next day.
RF The King!!!!!!!!
1:32:43 👀
59:04 Agassi beating Federer to the punch!!
12.00 service return by fed similar to 2009 semifinal returned by Djokovic saving match point
No one in the comments cares about Djerkoffvic
I like at the end of the match how Federer swats the ball as far as he can into the stands, like saying, you’re outta here Andre 🤣
