    Thanks Max for all you do! Houston here. I feel sorry for the folks that follow the local anti-alarmist weather website here. He was telling everyone a few days ago it's going into Mexico after the Yucatan and the only impact was going to be a little rain or something. Now they've got to backtrack and all the folks calling all the local news meteorologists sensationalists or alarmists are now in Walmart trying to find supplies.

      @@meursaulty6672 there is a cone of uncertainty for a reason. Stop looking at the center line and start realizing it can show up anywhere within the cone in the future. Couple that with there being models that took it all the way back to Louisiana but barely any taking it south of the cone and you can kinda get the idea that a northerly turn may still be in play. There was like one model run from one set yesterday that didn't show much to the north and it seems like anti-alarmist jumped all over that when the local meteorologists and others were still saying stay tuned because we aren't out of the woods yet. As soon as the next runs came out folks were blaming the same meteorologists like they were the ones who said we were in the clear.

That one, by my recollection, bounced off the coast and fed in the Gulf for a couple of days before whipping back around into Texas.

    He said he don't know what I'm talking about when I said when remnants of a hurricane or tropical storm come through Midwest states, that you can smell ocean and fish when that rain hits. For those of you in Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, be sure to note if I am right when this comes through and then come back and comment if I was right. You know the smell when it rains normally. Make sure to note the different smell when a tropical remnants system comes through. It is true

    • @sheilamartin880
      @sheilamartin880 15 дней назад +4

      It's definitely true. I can always tell here in Mid Eastern Missouri when it's hurricane rain by the "fishy" smell and the salt rings the dried up raindrops leave behind. We get dirty rain sometimes that leaves dirt spots behind but the salt rings are different as you can literally see the little salt crystals and if you wipe them off with your finger and lick it you can taste the salt. (gross I know but you know, science.😂)

    I'm no meteorologist but I have seen a lot of hurricanes. Usually it seemed that the edge contacting land would slow the movement and pull the storm towards land on that side. Why is this one doing the opposite? Contacting the Yucatan peninsula should have pulled it west and into Mexico yet it turned north?
