I suspect the reason why Australia comes up with songs and videos like this and the USA is less inclined to is because we focus our patriotism/love of country very differently. Americans are patriotic to their flag, government, laws, constitution, pledge of allegiance, etc. Australians hate all that stuff, instead we have a strong love our people, cultures, wildlife, the land, the sky...we belong to our natural country, not our man-made institutions.
Fax. We fucking hate our government, like what was Sko Mo doing during the 2019-2020 fires in Hawaii. But we love our country and each other, I mean, I'm not the biggest fan, but still. Like, our country is vastly different as we are not the economic centre of the world, because we don't NEED to be. The US has taken that up already. Our country is beautiful because of how untouched it is, sure, places like Leonora are boring as fuck, but then just maybe 100 killometers south you have Lake Ballard, one of the most eerie places I have ever been. Australia's environment is unlike that of any other country in the world, and that is too our benefit. And our wildlife is so bizarre and wonderful that it is obvious why we love it here. The cultures are diverse and intriguing, like the atmosphere of Perth (Where I live) is like a whole different country when compared to let's say Melbourne, and that diverse culture makes life always interesting. Our anthem is beautiful, as it highlights our core values, multiculturalism, natural beauty, our oceans, our rich and bountiful lands, and our strong will.
Here bloody here! Best PM we ever had. Such a focused intellectual and man of the ppl...and he say " anyone who doesnt give people a day off is a bum" when we won the Ameriacas Cup in 1983. Boy did I luv that🤣
Aww...this Aussie went all warm and fuzzy watching that. We call ourselves 'The lucky country' and I guess we are - peaceful, law abiding, diverse, prosperous and...the Wiggles. What more could you want?
Sort makes me wonder how our country has become so diverse, its the most multi cultural place on earth were people who come here to live leave the bullshit behind and people who were enemies become mates, that is one of our greatest strength's, we are the lucky country
"The Lucky Country" was a book (donald horne 1964) and the title is MEANT to be sarcastic :) but most of us never read the bloody thing and this term has entered the popular consciousness in totally the wrong way :)
We were the lucky country we certainly are not anything like what a lot of Australians grew up with now . As a kid steak wasn't considered a luxury food we often ate good meat before we were weaned onto pasta and those foods so the farmers could sell the good meat overseas. Everybody could get by on one income and we never had food shortages because everything came from Australia .
The guy skulling a beer in front of all the oversized microphones was the x priminister of Australia . Before he was priminister he held the Guinness world record for skulling the fastest yardglass of beer . That is great credentials to become the boss of the country .
That was so.cool, never seen it before. Ryan, the green spotty "Barney" creature is Dorothy the Dinosaur from The Wiggles - a massively successful kids band you can get familiar with now you're about to be a dad! Good luck to you and your wife for the birth of your son- how exciting! I guess you'll have to find a new studio.
Congratulations on the upcoming birth. Best wishes for a speedy, safe delivery and a good recovery for your wife. Looking forward to seeing little Ryan Jr co hosting.
I’m glad you reacted to that song. I’m so proud to be an Aussie and when that song was released it made me prouder. Shows a lot of things in our beautiful Country
If all his subs chipped in 20 bucks, would it get him a li'll holiday house on south coast of NSW or something? 😂 oi...I think We could manage a mad rental for a week or something ay! Let's do an exchange, who do we want to get rid of for a bit 🤔
as another commenter has said at 3:40 that was the former prime minister chugging a beer which before he became prime minister In 1954, he sculled a yard glass (two and a half pints) of beer in just eleven seconds - an achievement that earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of Records.
Onya Ryan! All the best for the new arrival, mate. Make sure you teach him or her to love your country. Unfortunately the cancer of self-loathing is infecting us here too. Hopefully there will be enough of us to keep the dream alive. And hopefully we can share an admiration for each other's nation and culture, because we both have a lot to be proud of.
The blokes with the microphones were “Richies”. The doyen of Australian cricket commentators was Richie Benaud, a much loved and successful former Australian cricket team captain, spin bowler and excellent all-rounder (bats and bowls very well, plus excellent close-in fielder), who often would be seen on TV impeccably dressed wearing his jacket, with his trademark silver hair and carrying a microphone, just like the “Richies” do now, in tribute to him. Like I said, much loved but now sadly departed.
Sled with out snow . They are billy carts as a kid growing up in STRAYA it was a hobby to make our carts and go speeding down hills great fun and skills acquired by designing and building
Yep husband and brother built one and then hubby steered it while big brother pushed it ! So boys playing in the back lane , no idea of speed and BOOM one broken leg later that billy cart was in the bin !
The dude they were waving the microphones at is Bob Hawk, an ex Prime Minister. He was in the Guinness Book of Records at one time for the fastest skulling of a yard of ale.
The guys with the mikes were dressed up as a much-beloved cricket commentator (Richie Benaud) and cheering on the guy in the grey suit chugging down a beer in one go who was the Prime Minister of Australia (Bob Hawke). This was at the Sydney Cricket Ground during (IIRC) a "test" (ie a game of cricket between the national teams of Aus and probably England).
Ryan, you have to go back and watch that bit again and appreciate that a bunch of Aussies in costume are cheering a Prime Minster chugging a beer at the cricket. Nothing else sums up the Aussie spirit better. This is why we live our country so bloody much.
And the current prime minister got spotted by the crowd at a "Gang of Youths" concert, and they chanted for him sink his beer - and cheered when he did. :D Yes Australian politics is different. BTW congrats on the new addition to your family mate, hope it all goes well.
Congratulations and condolences on the impending birth of your baby. If you think things changed during your wife’s pregnancy be prepared for the unimaginable. I take it that you will be attending the birth; be prepared to see your lady-love in a whole new light… and be prepared to never sleep again! Come Monday (if the baby comes on time - which they rarely do unless the mother is having a planned C-section) you will truly become a man. Giving birth is pretty traumatic, but it’s equally as awful to be watching someone you love giving birth and not being able to ease their pain. And what you’re about to embark on is the scariest, yet most richly rewarding, adventure of your life. Wishing you and yours all the very best ❤️
I’ve been hoping he’d react to this! I still get a feeling in my heart watching this song. And so many iconic Aussie moments. Truly lucky to be an Aussie 🇦🇺
3:34 Ryan… it’s not far :) (well, from an Australian point of view it’s not). First time I travelled to Europe I joined a Contiki tour (think, rowdy 20 somethings and you get the idea). The bus only had two nationalities onboard. The 8 or so Americans complained, “was such a long 7 hour flight to get here”. The 40 Aussies all replied “try 24 hours…. :O”
yup absolutely!!!!!! Just "Adam Hills Advance Australia Fair" brings it up, doesn't need to add in the rest to find it, but he gets to enjoy one of our best ever rockers at the same time as our anthem :)
Hi Ryan, Today I came across an announcement that your Snickers Bars are going to be made in New Zealand from now on. They're the same High Quality ones we can buy in our Aussie Supermarkets. So if you like them in the near future you can have a taste of a Choccie (Chocolate 🍫) Bar that we eat in Australia. We don't use Corn Syrup that's something the majority of Aussies have never even heard of. We use Cane Sugar in stead, usually in smaller quantities than they do in your country. Your new Snickers Bars won't have as many Chemical Additives, they can't get away with using them like they do in The US. They won't be adding Artificial Colours and Flavours as well. They'll be sticking to our ingredients. So if you're craving something Sweet and like Snickers Bars you'll easily be able to buy one. China are up in arms about it, but it's a win for both New Zealand and your country. China used to have the contract to make them. I'll start another comment.
All the big microphones - they're a group of cricket fans who go to the cricket every year dressed as Richie Benaud (a legend, ex commentator and much loved icon of the great game). The guy skulling the beer is our ex Prime Minister Bob Hawke (in office 83 - 91). Bob was a huge cricket fan as well, so when we won the America's cup yacht race, or another cricket test series, Bob Hawke would skull a beer to mark the occasion - we all thought he was such a cool Prime Minster, coz he actually had a beer with us (citizens of Aus) for real, which made him real, and we loved him lol.
Australian inventions: eg. Google maps, wifi, Ultra Sound, Black Box flight recorders, the pacemaker, bionic ear, refridgerators, esky, wine casks, electric drill, surf ski, car radio, letter sorting machines, solar hot water, latex gloves, power boards, spray on skin, cervical cancer vaccine. polymer bank notes, multifocal contact lenses , baby travel capsules, zinc cream, just for a start..............
I love how you don’t have to have been born in Australia to be an Aussie, you just have to live there for a while, once the accent starts coming in, Your an Aussie!
@3:23 when you ask what is going on here, It's our former prime minister sculling a beer, not for the first time either, at the cricket in front of a large group of fans dressed as the late great Richie Benaud, who after retiring from international cricket became a commentator and living legend in ever sense of the word. I have to admit that as an Aussie I sometimes take what we have for granted, but then watching the response from people of other countries to Australia gives me that feeling of Aussie pride and makes me realise we really are the lucky country.
Love this video! So much fun. Don’t let anyone take away the pride you have for your country! All countries have issues, but the everyday person is not who the media portrays - be proud Ryan. Best wishes to all of you for Monday ❤️🇦🇺
"The microphone" this was when our then Prime Minister Bob Haulk skulled a glass of beer at the cricket the the cheers of the whole stadium, players and press included. "Australia's Barney"is actually The Wiggles a children's group, they sing, dance, act, have a tv show, cd's, dvds, tour the world and they are Australia's biggest musical export of all time. Bigger than Kylie Minogue, John Farnham and every one else pretty much combined.
True Aussies can make these sorts of videos because the majority of us don't take ourselves too seriously. We can laugh at each other without getting offended and we can also laugh at ourselves. If a true Aussie does something dumb and it makes a funny story, we share it and everybody laughs.
I’ve travelled quite a bit. More like I’ve repeatedly emigrated. 11 years away and I’m so bloody grateful to be back here and growing old back in Australia. No place is really perfect, but my home comes close.
When you commented is that Australia's Barnaby it was Dorothy the Dinasour with the Wiggles who are also very popular with American children. Cricket 🏏 is more complicated than it looks. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on Australia. You bring a smile to my face. Best wishes 9n the birth of your son.
Congrats for the birth of your son, mate... a little joey.. all the best for the future... waiting for you to visit this beaut land downunder ... have a great arvo ,,,, from Western Australia... ; -)
Congratulations in advance for the birth of your baby! One moment you will never forget!! I hope all goes well, and baby and Mom are happy and healthy!
The guys with Dorothy the Dinosaur - green dotted character - are the world famous Wiggles. Hugely popular with kids all over the world. My kids, now in their 20s, grew up with the original Wiggles, there are a new set now although I think one of the original Wiggles, Anthony is still with them. America really loved them too. Now that you're having a baby you will need to get familiar with kid's entertainment. The hilarious part is that the old Wiggles do the occasional pub concert for the kids that grew up with them who are now young adults. Now that's classic watching! My daughter went to one recently.
You honestly need to visit here bro...I watch ur videos on a daily basis..I see your passion for our beautiful cuntry lol country...and beautiful people...we are one.mate....cheers
The man drinking (beer)( in front of all the microphones was the former Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. He held the world record at Oxford University for drinking a Yard of Beer. True Fact. The men with the microphones are all dressed like the now deceased Cricket commentator Richie Benaud. They do it at the cricket to honour him.
Awwwww, wishing you all the best for the safe arrival of your baby boy...maybe you could call him Ozzie??? Ozzie Was sounds like the perfect name for an honorary little Aussie tacker!!
Hi Ryan, baby's due Monday, can't wait, very exciting, treasured memories,l love the way you love Australia,l think you and your family might be living here one day, love you channel .♥️ Australia
Need any baby name ideas Ryan? 🤔 How about Neville? Or maybe Trevor? Two good Aussie names right there 😜 Good luck on Monday, we'll all be waiting for the news 🤞🤞🤞
The part of the music video where there was a part that there was heaps of microphones being pointed at a dude drinking beer..that was the Prime Minister Bob Hawke drinking a beer in celebration when we won the Americas Cup in 1983
That’s not a diseased barny! It’s The Wiggles! World famous kids entertainment group☺️ they have recently blown up with an Aussie tour for adults only! I went and it was awesome. Also they just did a cover of Tame Impala last year which won The Hottest 100 which is our biggest music count down in Australia. Worth a review! Also the video of the guy skilling a drink with all the media watching, he’s an ex prime minister skulling a drink like a legend!
First time seeing this video and I'm Aussie. Legend. As you are to be a dad, soon, look up Tim Minchin's. " Lullaby". He will ruin your brain. Australia's secret weapon! Seriously, an IQ that is somewhere in the stratosphere! Another great video, Ryan. Lob over and stay in Australia for a while. Like the hotel California, you can never leave.....have a great arvo. Greetings from Dimboola, in Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺.
G'day there Ryano. Still warm in Hoosierville? Cold here in Canberra. We're having a great ski season here. Checkout; Perisher, Thredbo, Mt. Buller, Falls Creek, Mt. Hotham, Mt.Baw Baw. It's not all 40° desert here. Cheers.
I want to see him react to Adam Hills doing the Aussie anthem since he's doing anthems - which kinda touches on your point there in the process & gives him a taste of Barnsey :)
The grey-haired mob with oversized microphones were "The Richies", dressed up as an iconic Cricket player/captain/commentator, cheering on our beer-sculling ex-Prime Minister.

3:40 is our former Prime Minister Bob Hawke drinking beer and giving the whole nation a holiday when Australia 2 Won the Americas Cup. What a guy!
He had the world record for sculling a yard glass of beer.
Gday. Yep and I heard our current one sculled a beer at a concert last week!
Here bloody here! Best PM we ever had. Such a focused intellectual and man of the ppl...and he say " anyone who doesnt give people a day off is a bum" when we won the Ameriacas Cup in 1983. Boy did I luv that🤣

Omgosh! Baby immanent 😯 so excited for You mate! 😁
Congratulations in advance for the birth of your baby! One moment you will never forget!! I hope all goes well, and baby and Mom are happy and healthy!
Glad your feeling better mate. Hope all goes well with the birth of your little dude.
Good luck with your new baby. Love Straya.
All the very Best Mate

You've looked at it so often now Ryan............. bout time to come on down! Little Ryan would love to go to Broadbeach Primary School!
Straya mate , love it .
The people featured singing are famous Aussies, AC/DC, Kylie Minogue, Midnight Oil and the Wiggles..
All the very best for your newborn Ryan.....proud dad❤
I LOVED THAT!!! Now I want Straya as our Aussie Anthem!! We just have to get that fabulous band to agree!
Good luck for Monday- life changing !! 🍀🦘love your work.!!
Now that was cool, great reaction. The guy in front of all those microphones was our late Priminister Bob Hawke drinking a beer.
Goodluck with the baby, Hope mum has an easy time, all the best
AFL women's football starting in 5 minutes ..channel 7 in Melbourne
Best wishes to you and your wife mate . I hope that you and your family are healthy and happy
Congratulations on the new baby x
Good one. Seeing that video again made me proud to be an Aussie. (again) :)
omg good luck for the next few days to your wife, and you Ryan. the Aussies will be thinking of you guys
Awwwww, wishing you all the best for the safe arrival of your baby boy...maybe you could call him Ozzie??? Ozzie Was sounds like the perfect name for an honorary little Aussie tacker!!
Wishing you all the best for your little ones arrival.
Father's Day is 4th September this year, so Happy (pre-emptive) Father's Day, mate.

It's Friday evening now Mate, but appreciate your effort non the less.
GREAT VIDEO!!!!
I'm Australian, and I loved your reaction 😊
Wow! About to be a dad :)
That is so awesome!
Let's us know when he arrives ♡♡♡
I’ve seen these heaps of times I love it never get tired of watching #aussieandproud #straya
Mint mate. U can b an Aussie any time mate. U fit the bill...who else votes for our US mate to b an Aussie!
Congrats mate, prayers for a happy healthy bub. Maybe when he's a bit older you can bring the whole family here and see how beautiful our country is 👍
The part of the music video where there was a part that there was heaps of microphones being pointed at a dude drinking beer..that was the Prime Minister Bob Hawke drinking a beer in celebration when we won the Americas Cup in 1983
That’s not a diseased barny!
Mate, you can't be dissing Dorothy the Dinosaur with the Wiggles like that 🤣🤣
First time seeing this video and I'm Aussie.
Waiting for this little baby, all the very best :-)
G'day there Ryano. Still warm in Hoosierville? Cold here in Canberra. We're having a great ski season here. Checkout; Perisher, Thredbo, Mt. Buller, Falls Creek, Mt. Hotham, Mt.Baw Baw. It's not all 40° desert here. Cheers.
Hey Ryan, if you like music then please react to John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes nicknamed Farnsey and Barnsey. They're phenomenal
I want to see him react to Adam Hills doing the Aussie anthem since he's doing anthems - which kinda touches on your point there in the process & gives him a taste of Barnsey :)
Yes !!
Best wishes for the baby mate 😁👍❤️🇦🇺
The grey-haired mob with oversized microphones were "The Richies", dressed up as an iconic Cricket player/captain/commentator, cheering on our beer-sculling ex-Prime Minister.
