Closed Down Bus Depot with Buses still inside

- After finding out this bus depot was becoming abandoned, we decided to give it a look, and after a crazy day getting in, (you wouldn't believe the story if I told you haha) we found that there was still loads of buses left over, most of them had signs on saying they were unusable but all were in good condition. Lots of old machinery was left over but it was clear they had already moved alot of stuff.
Not really abandoned yet, they are still in the process of closing it down. The numbered blue box lockers are where drivers stored their stuff, ticket machines and cash dispenser. My locker was 126, they were grey metal when I left, they had previously been in the paying in office at another depot on the other side of the city centre.
I just closed down, using other depots to store buses now
They seem to be a lot of bus depot closures in that part of the UK.
Good to see all the lathes and lifts in there before it's all cleared. I wonder if the blue lockers would of been where the fare boxes would have gone 🤔 wouldn't get much in there! Spot on 👍

went here yesterday, all the buses are gone, at least 4 cameras in every room and about 4-5 police cars came. apparently it’s for sale and they thought we were burglars

They were actually having to share Walkergate depot with Stagecoach until they could sort out what they were going to do as they had no where to store and operate their buses.

The buses you see were all withdrawn from service anyway and were just being stored there.

High costs here, so moved the buses to there other depot in walkergate
And still the building is empty cause the price of it is loads

you'd think the bus company would give the buses to charities to use after tey had fixed them up.

Why ?
A bus company will use buses till they cannot physically be safely repaired anymore. At which point they are most often donated to a recovery company for spares. For arriva that company is Alpha recovery. In rare instances they do donate buses to schools and charities. The daft as a brush foundation has an ex arriva double decker on its premises that was donated by Arriva 😀

Those darts and plaxton centros were nothing to turn your nose up at, believe me, I'm a bus enthusiast and I know that Dennis dart SLFs are probably the beastiest buses going, those centros were either Volvo B7RLE or DAF SB200, now.
