It's fascinating to hear young Boulez, with stylistic polyglot Messiaen guiding him, grope for a style he had yet to discover. In itself I found this music dull going, but just imagine that three years later he would produce that gorgeous monster, the second piano sonata. So these pieces are the Great Pierre just before he exploded into self-realization.
I wish there was a more modern recording of this work. The vinyl hiss is just too pronounced to be ignored and detracts greatly from the the listening experience. The work is an obvious masterpiece.
Yes, she is! according to the french wikipedia page, as a pupil of Olivier Messiaen , she subsequently abandoned her career as a pianist to focus on ethnomusicology where she particularly studied traditional Georgian music and the musical traditions of the Babinga pygmies!

Really fascinating and written even before the Douze notations. But already stilistically very consistent!
The order of the 3 parts is in reverse. The recording starts with psalmodie No.3, then No. 2 and No. 1.

Magnifique!
Just for the sake of accuracy: this is not the complete Psalmodies. This recording is just Psalmodie nr. 3.
WOW
Is this the same Yvette Grimaud that collected Georgian folksongs?
