Oh man, what a dope production on this track! Respect
I love the song! The beat is funky. Thanks for sharing.
Cool track, and thanks for the demo of this plugin 👍
Thanks a ton!!
I agree nice song!! I just updated from Neutron Pro to Neutron 4 and ill never mix without it again!! Thanks for the vid brotha!
Yo thanks! I think it's a solid plugin with a lot of features I previously overlooked, stoked to really dig in
Phenomenal production man!
🙏🙏 thanks!
Great video. Also LOVE the track too :)
🙏🙏🙏 thanks!
Thank you for the tut, but man oh man, that song 🥲, its been a while since I wished I did that, dope! new sub for the production!
Yooo!! Truly appreciate that!!
Wow, this is actually dope
Truly is!!
Thanks for the review. I dig this song. The piano and brass part sounds a lot like the bass line of Del's "style police".
Appreciate that! Gonna peep that bass line fasho
Literally never seen anyone speak on Deltron in any video regarding music. Good to see 🤝
New sub here. Neutron 4 has changed my mixes for the best. I also use an SSL SiX to run everything through for that analog authenticity. Fucking epic mixes.
Oh hell yeah! Really been loving Neutron, using it on all my mixes. Part of me wants to get some analog gear just for a final run through but I also make so many changes so often on trailer and sync songs it’s hard to call them “final” if the clients wants an edit!
Great video man
Appreciate you!
NICE homie! I’m working on a video using this as we speak. Figured I’d take a break and apparently the algorithm now reads my thoughts… so here I am lol. Great video brother.
Oh yes..it knows..it ALWAYS KNOWS haha - appreciate it, I only talked about 1-2 features, there are so many great ways to use it, looking forward to your edit!
@@matnetik ❤️✌️
Sick sound!
Thanks a ton 🙏
thanx a lot bro
sup everyone wow i cant believe this plugin does this wow that is so dope i dont know what it does but this plugin is a must have for every youtuber
Track is Fire!!
Ayyyyy appreciate you!
Thanks man! - You just saved my life 🙂
Thank YOU for watching and the positive vibes 🙏
thanks!
New sub man.
Thanks!!
That beat is fire
Yo thanks!!
This song smashes! Is that an official release? 🔥🤘🏽
I really should release it one of these days!!
@@matnetik Please do. I love it :)
Hi, love the video. I also use the Izotope. I have a question about masking. I write mainly orchestra pieces and some have vocals with it. I place the instrument that belong together in a bus. The orchestra uses the whole frequency spectrum so every group will always clash into another group. Do you unmask all the groups - one could get crazy trying to free up all the instruments - I am pretty new in unmasking. I am getting good results with vocals and drum with bas - but with the orchestra there are so many instruments and when they are playing all together incl percussion. What kind of advice can you give me that I can try out tomorrow. Thanks in advance
Hey Josh, thanks for the comment here - I think using unmask for instruments that sit on top of each other in the exact same frequency spectrum is the best use case (as you mentions, kick and bass, vocals and guitar, etc). For orchestral music, I think one of the most important aspects is using the stereo field. Make sure certain instruments are panned, use widening and doubling, keep instruments that clash in frequencies away from each other by keeping one centered and the other wide, etc. Also spend time using subtractive EQ to fit sounds together like a puzzle instead of overlapping. It's all about placement! Hope this helps-
The piano/brass melody of the track reminds me of the melody from Led Zeppelin's classic instrumental track "Moby Dick".
Someone else mentioned this as well! Sadly wasn’t a Zeppelin fan growing up and just listened to that song for the first time a week ago, had no idea about that melody line we just made it
Neutron is good, not my thing though, it works but I prefer other Channel strips,(BX Focusrite sc and Analog Obsession STEQ are my jam, although they dont have the AI functions) but I will say anyone who wants it, its a good plugin, very powerful
A yo Mat! So should I put an instance of NU4 on each individual track...Put it on the MASTER , or put it on different MIX BUS tracks? Also do I add reverb and other filters after NU4?
Hey hey, it's entirely preference on where you put it, I wouldn't put it on the master (although you could!) I would put it on individual instruments to lock in the tone of each sound that you want to use it on.
As far as where it goes in the chain, also kind of preference, you could put it first, then add your stereo effects such as reverb, delays, etc - this way you are effecting the sound after it is balanced-
Or you could put it after everything to balance the overall track output with compression, eq, etc post effects - all about how you want that track to sound! Thanks for watching
why does this sound like an apple commercial haha
YES! It's actually in a Wendy's Frosty commercial - thanks for watching
Cool, do I have to load neutron on Both channels for the Unmask feature or only on the channel that will be masked?
Only the one you want to mask, then you just sidechain the other track to it!
can neutron 4 also track in real time with the sound it analyzes from a vocal? like once it analyzes a vocal can you now record with that sound going forward after it analyzes it?
Theoretically yes but there will be latency from your interface to computer, through the software then back through the interface to the output :(
unmask is very similar to track spacer
this song should be a hit!!!!! whaaaaaaaat
Ayyyyy!! Appreciate you! 🙏 It is actually in multiple Wendy's commercials!
@@matnetik is it possible to work with you? 😏
I am releasing a music course this year where I will be giving opportunities and collabing with others! You can check it out here: fulltimemusiccreator.com
@@matnetik this is not what I meant. I’m asking whether you wanna work together to create something crazy? I’m a singer songwriter
You’re welcome to send some examples of your work over to my email (on my channel page) and if I have a project that fits I will get back to you, cheers!
Dude you need to show how you created this song.
this is the best song i've ever heard in a plugin usage tutorial....really fantastic track
Yon truly appreciate this comment! 🙏
Regarding the unmask feature, is there any difference between this and an intelligent EQ such as Gulfoss?
I have both and they're basically exact opposites. Gulfoss is constantly changing and responding hundreds of times per second. Izotope feels more set it and forget it. BOTH are great tho.
@@graffitisouth9994 Thanks for your response! Great to know. Was Neutron worth the investment?
Unfortunately I don’t have Gulfoss so can’t comment on it but coming from Neuton 2, I’d say it’s worth it, new features are dope and there are so many more than I went over. Thanks @graffitisouth for the reply here!
@@matnetik great stuff thanks mate!
@@DarrenCampbellmusic extremely worth it if you dont have gulffoss already. imo you only need one or the other.
@3:40 I think the plugin Trackspacer does the same!
Snap I've never seen Trackspacer! Gotta check it out
@@matnetik Do it, its cheap and does its job!
@@matnetik give it a try, its worth every dollar.
Yup its a mirror of trackspacer, but still super convenient if you use Neutron as your mixing plugin of choice so I aint mad at it.
Mat, where can we hear the full song?
Hey thanks for the kind comments! Unfortunately this song isn't released, it's in a library getting pitched for AD placement!
@@matnetikits a brilliant production! I would like to see your tutorial though the production. 👍🏽
haha great plugin but look like Andy Wallace will always get the job, just give him a SSL desk!😅
OH 100% Hahaha
Dang yourDAW doesn't have side chain built in?
Yeah side-chain is a drop down in the corner, the unmasking feature allows you to side chain by EQ and compression at the same time!
Wonderful video, thanks! Also very very sad that Izotope doesn't offer an "upgrade to 4" option. Just bought mps 4.1 and this includes neutron 3. If I knew this I would've waited 2 more weeks.
Ah yeah, I know it's on sale for $199 but that's pretty pricey, especially if you just bought 3! Thanks for the kind note though, I'd check your "loyalty offers" under your account and see if there is anything there?
@@matnetik yes indeed ! its 149 in loyality offer. Might consider that. thanks for your quick reply ! keep it up with those nice vids btw
Appreciate you! Would be nice if it were $79 bones honestly - I feel like that's a fair price - there are so many great features in N3 I'd dive in to that if you haven't!
@@matnetik exactly 79 would be perfect. Thx for all your effort and replies. Much much appreciation
@@matnetik Haven't even pressed play on the video yet and already gave it a like just from how you helped this commenter. You're a class act!
Ha. This song is basically a simplified version of Zeppelin's Moby Dick riff.
Sadly was never a Zeppelin fan growing up (other than the popular songs) but will definitely take a listen!
this plugin makes no sense lol - dropping my lead vocals -13db for literally no reason, ill never understand how they got everyone to promote it
Odd, they didn’t ask me to promote it at all, I just made this video on it - do you have the side-chain active? Are you using Neutron 4 or just the Unmask module? I’ll help ya if I can!
Mixing engineer is gonna be retired soon
Haha, mixing is definitely still an art IMO but I think this is a solid tool in any mixers box
Hell naw it’s not. Computers have no soul.
Not really seeing the value over Neutron 3. Unmask just seems like a half baked crutch that will get you some shitty mixes.
I mean I definitely only showed 1 feature from it - the tone match is pretty rad for shaping sound, even if you aren't using the "piano" preset for a piano - I am pretty impressed with the ability to upload a wav file and let it tone match based off that, great for match vocal or guitar tones. It's a dope plugin, especially if you don't have it at all
@@matnetik I'm specifically talking about the changes from 3. Neutron in general is pretty powerful, I'm just not impressed by the new features.
Sorry, also in the other video about ozone 10 you praise izotope products like crazy. It‘s so obvious that your biased reviews are paid by Izotope. 😮
I only review things I genuinely use in my production, if I don’t like something I don’t review it. No reason to lie about it, didn’t get paid or asked to do any of these videos, cheers m8
Waste of money
You can mix better instaed of mixing with one plugin...limits your tone coloring and its gona make everything so so digital....I can see this being better on tracks....not on mix bus
yeah that is becoming the norm with Izotope unfortunately. These days they seem to barely innovate anything meaningful and then charge through the roof for what I feel are empty updates to their existing customers. Aint doing it no more.
Yeah, I agree with this - this is one of many tools within my toolbox and I enjoy using it, especially for simple things with large frequency overlaps
There are definitely positive and negatives with updates, I definitely think it's a solid plugin, if you don't own it I think it's a good buy - I could have continued using 3 and been happy!
@@matnetik Yeah, tbh I have had their full suite and been updating it for years, last couple of updates I was already biting my tongue and just going with it thinking they had some innovative tech coming down the pipeline. but this is the last straw for me. They seem to be living in a bubble and relying on their good name to charge through the roof. These updates are meaningless, while also leaving out other basic important features. I like to keep my software up to date but I ain't doing it no more with izotope, this update for existing user should have been no more than £50
Mix sounds digitally smeared........no thanks
I don't think having a "digital" mix is a bad thing. I think there is a very different sound between analog and digital and that's 100% okay. This project is 95% digital, all VST plugins (yes lots of analog recorded samples within those plugins), ran through digital mixing plugins (eq's compressors, effects) and produced on a digital platform (logic). This does give the song a certain characteristic. The only analog sounds in this project are the live sax and vocals but again, processed in the box with digital plugins. For this track, it's the sound I was going for - cheers!
