I'd argue that a lot of folks will consider this more than a 'toy'. it's small and cheap and portable - but it's very practical for for a musician to generate or record ideas or practice. for the money, this is probably the best you could get in a keyboard. nice review!
Yep you may well be correct. And of course you can add effects to liven up the sound. I uploaded a video in which I connect a fuzz pedal. Sounds great :) Gearfacts
I recorded some nice sounds on multi track computer with this little toy. I don't like the narrow keys though. Much better through a soundcard plus effects.
6:15 I know, Casio keyboards share songs, but I find it impressive when I recognize a song from another Casio keyboard and it sounds very similar despite having different samples. Another example of this is Kang Ding Qing Ge, which appears on two or more keyboards, but still has a overall very similar sound. 7:10 Good thing the instrument samples here don't sound overly cheap, unlike *some* kid's keyboards, like the ones with the one repeating mandolin sample...or the ones that steal from Roland.
Howdy Glynn! I was just playing with my own, and decided to see if you had one too :) Of course, you did! Cheers, brother! I was shocked how huge some of these sounds are. I think I paid ten bucks or 25 for mine. Happy days!
Sounds bad, probably something wrong with the main circuit board. I've had keyboards do things like what you describe when there's a crack running through that main circuit board. All I can suggest is a factory reset but I've had a look at the net and can't find out how to do it. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but thanks for watching my video :)
I keep one in my car for when inspiration strikes. And I have an upright piano, a rhodes, and multiple synthesizers in my home studio...so this definitely isnt a “toy”. I hate the on screen keys with phone apps.
Hope my comment about it being a toy didn't come across as an insult. It was intended to mean that even though Casio is marketing it to kids and parents, it still has a usable sound set.
Gearfacts oh haha no, I just know that a lot of people might label it as that, same with the old casio sk series back in the day. My point was more that anything can be used to get out creative ideas, and this one is perfect for that when on the road and nothing else is around. 👍🏼
It's a significant improvement in sound, but overall I'm not a fan of this keyboard format. Kids are quite capable of enjoying a 'proper' keyboard. In my experience, these mini keyboards do nothing to foster an enjoyment of music in kids.
I am getting the casio sa 78, same keyboard as this one, but with a different colour design for when I go to turkey next month, I might also use it along with audacity to get serious with it and make a completely new song using all the keyboards I have including thisone
A lot of people would disagree with your assessment of this as a "toy" .... In fact, I've seen plenty of reviews right here on RUclips that are a lot more complimentary about this keyboard than you are. But to each their own.
I have given it a lot of thought but no, compared to the Yamaha PSS series of miniature keyboards, I can’t see any reason why a musician would choose the Casio.
@@gearfacts I didn't say anything about the Yamaha, I'm simply talking about you referring to the Casio as a "toy" ... I disagree. Yamaha no doubt is a great product.
The SA76 is not good for an adult. A cheap Yamaha with full-sized keys would be a better choice as a starting instrument. Stay away from the small keys :)
This is one of the most attractive looking keyboards I've ever seen. If this had a record feature I'd be thinking about buying it. As a songwriter, I'm always wanting to quickly bash out ideas and my regular keyboard isn't very portable. I've been looking out for a portable toy keyboard for a while now. Though it definitely needs to have a record feature. Another deal-breaker here is the clashing purple and blue colours. I think it really spoils the beauty of the keyboard. As for your statement that this is "not a serious instrument". Well, you likely couldn't produce a number one hit song using this keyboard alone (LOL!) but then again, what hit song ever used a single unprocessed instrument?
Yeah man, that's a fair comment! I think I made another video where I used this keyboard with a fuzz pedal, that was pretty cool. Also, Akai has a new keyboard of similar size but way better features :) GF
this makes up for not having a record feature by having line in, so using only the headphone jack you can plug it into your computer and with the write tools, make a complete song using only the sounds on this keyboard and audacity
@@BlueBot yes I'm starter, i play guitar and want to learn piano, i can only afford this so need to be so sure if it's worth or not. And this piano not sounding Sweet in video but does it sounds sweet in real?
Toy? I got a toy for a kid like this.. you cannot even push more than 2 keys... That's a toy.. Casio SA-76 is maybe aimed to toy market but you can learn on it even the music notation.. this is priceless when small child wich does not even read text yet is aknowledged with notes... Some samples sounds very good.. as for toy and that money.. SA-7X series wins!

Yes i hate when they say this is a toy im 8 just practicing alla turca
Exactly my thoughts man, i have a arturia midi for serious music but i just bought this for practicing my stuff on the go
This is more of an amature keyboard than a toy, This is very useable and has lots of really useful sounds on it.
Do you use it? I'm think about to buy it
@@zohirraihan8828 It is pretty good, you can definitely learn on it
@@oliberrhy2391 bro, I'm so afraid of sounds quality. It's not sounding soft and sweet in video. How about in real?

You can see Chris Martin from Coldplay playing this keyboard (The Bowie tribute) in Carpool Karaoke. It sounds good.
Also check out Eunomic making a song with it, I think I've seen others making music with it too

My key in this is broken. Now it’s missing. Is there any way i can fix it?
I have one just like this and it is amazing! It’s not just a toy it’s really helpful if you just started playing the piano
Cool, thanks for watching! GF
Why is this revision of that SA-76 have a different sounding tone 72 BASS & LEAD?
This also runs on ac adptor

Thank you for the straight forward video. I'm going to pick one up because of your review.

great news! I now have one, only £60 on amazon, well worth the price

It's a significant improvement in sound, but overall I'm not a fan of this keyboard format. Kids are quite capable of enjoying a 'proper' keyboard. In my experience, these mini keyboards do nothing to foster an enjoyment of music in kids.

Does it have a output for cables? 3.5 mm jack? Yeah, it can be used by professionals.
