Casio SA-76
Casio SA-9

First Act Discovery
That modded meowing keyboard is exactly what makes these videos unmissable, haha.
Lazy Game Reviews its a nerdgasm of epic proportion
8-bit keys doesn’t post often, but when it does, it’s always a treat, for my 8bit ears.
Lazy Game Reviews I have the same cat keyboard but the nose broke off but I haven't broken it since. 😅
cant beat playing with a pussy
I'm shocked at how easy it is really
Omg, thank you for the shout-out! The cat keyboard is a big hit on stage.
Came here to make sure y'all saw this!
Y'all put more into your B. Meowsic than David sure did.
You're welcome! I'd love to collaborate sometime on a Meowsic song!

"There are absolutely no input or output ports"
"Ages 2-6"
I'd expect at least balanced XLRs for pre-schoolers.

@@BuickGeek24 no, why? Let me go check it out
Well, Sergei Prokofiev wrote his first piece at age 5. To take one somewhat famous composer as an example.
The Knight Rider theme on that keyboard. Pure genius. You rock David!
bucharestBIKEtraffic dar pe cine-am gasit?
FreeScorpio Pe mine.
Yeah i love that show
3:18 By far the best thing to have been recreated on RUclips
Terrum you beat me to it. So... yeah what he said!
Terrum what about techmoan singing "get lucky"?
dont think many today would remember that commercial :P
customvrocker Good call. That was amazing as well
I know you can read my thoughts boy... Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow
I genuinely laughed out loud when you played the Meow Mix theme.
I actually skipped back to watch it again. : )
Here I am ✌️😀
CatPiano Entertainment what doing
some day you will be called LaboPiano Entertainment
CatPiano Entertainment *Looking through comnet* What the......
CatPiano Entertainment I’m ur #1 fan subscribe to me!
Oh. Hi there! 😂
Yes! The cat keyboard!
Also, Knight Rider!
Also, Meow Mix!
I love how the meow sound is just a recording of someone saying "Meow"... and that it's two note moggyphonic, of course.
Love how David keeps things balanced. Old keyboard newer tunes, newer keyboards retro tunes.
What's the tune he keeps playing in this video?
It’s 5am and here I am, watching a grown man play with a cat keyboard while I lay in bed unable to sleep. I’m enjoying every second of the video but.... what’s wrong with me? I need to sleep
2 am for me. The lack of sleep is real brother.
Matthew Rease indeed it is, because here I am, 6 months later, birds chirping outside and it’s 6:43am after another sleepless night.
Try quickly blinking 100 times right before bed, it will cause the muscles around your eyes to become fatigued .
chinablue who it’s 1:11am and I just tried what you said and it didn’t help. Thanks anyway though. It just feels like there’s springs between my eyelids pushing them apart and open.
Blue light addiction
My cat reacted when you played the Meow instrument 😂
Ha ha, My mom played a video with a cat on her phone months ago, and her cat was in another room, and he came running into the room that she was in. :D
Plqp
:)
Hahahaha 😂
Uh oh! I guess I’ll have to work on my «feline» playing techniques the next time I’m in town then. 😸
Indeed.. Everyone is going to expect some meowsic greatness from you!
Cannot wait for follow up video with more meowsic
Its not hard to perfect your feline skills. Just catch a few felines, line em up in a row. Pull each tail and see what note they generate. Re-arrange the cats so they form a perfect scale, and start playing. Bonus points if you can make em play automatically by feeding an arduino a midi sequence, triggering solenoids to pull the tails ;)
Can't wait to hear your meowsterpiece!
There actually were cat and pig organs like that in the olden days. very tonally limited though.
Yes an 8-bit keys video it’s been so long thank you for keeping 8-bit keys alive
Runaway train Productions what about his gun channel? (I shit you not he has one...)
Runaway train Productions thanks David I knew you won't abbaonded 8 bit keys
Dylan Truong are you sure you’re not joking with me?
Runaway train Productions I am not. Forgot what it was called (will check later) but he owned a fucking pistol.
"awesomeairguns" that's the name.
Well, he did it again. Only the 8-Bit Guy could make a video about a toy cat keyboard and have me glued to the screen the whole time.
Years ago, after my wife and I first went shopping for gifts on the toy aisle for our new daughter, my wife stumbled on this. I have no clue why. She fell in love with it. She's not an 8-bit/electronics nerd like I am but... I think she's going to like this video... and probably ask that I line-out from this thing like you've done.
Pimp My Meowsic Keyboard
Yo dawg, we heard you like keyboards so we put a keyboard in your keyboard.
keyboard-ception
If you are watching this in the future, there are some good travel pianos now, that are actually playable and very affordable. You gotta look into the Yamaha PSS series from 2020. $50-60 dollars new. There are 3 models available: PSS F30, A50, and E30 (Remie). They are getting harder to find, because of the supply shortages, but they are definitely worth grabbing. I think they will return production again in the future though. I was able to find one for $45 from someone off facebook. The keybed is the same as on the Yamaha reface series, and layout/sounds are modeled after the full sized Yamaha PSR series. For a $50 keyboard, it packs a punch in such a small travel-friendly package. I can now play or practice wherever I want to go.
@12:33 Best cover of the Knight Rider theme ever!
Look up Mitch Murder's version. Not taking anything away from David, cus he's a genius, but it will blow your mind lol
Ha, I just checked it out. Somehow that version is even more 80's than the actual TV show version. I think it's the quaintness of the toy keyboard version that gets me.
Agreed. And think about it, David just used a simple keyboard and Audacity and got a brilliant result. Love it!
It will sound good with some meow.
I had a Casio SA-1 when I was a kid, circa '91 or '92. It's the same as the SA-9 but the top is black, not green and blue and it has the audio out fitted. I've never learnt to play anything but loved to hear the demo song, "Wake me up before you go-go" by Wham 😁
Hernán Álvarez I had that exact keyboard.
I've been trying to figure out which model it was (I was only 6)
Did yours come with the Michael Jackson songbook?
I don't remember that...
exactly what I wanted to say! I remembered having this keyboard exactly as you describe. Glad i'm not getting crazy :)
i had a different version of the technobeat and i taught myself almost everything i know on it but eventually my song writing skills became too complex for it so i switched to a casio ctk-541 both are great and i think its cool we both got a little bit of our past back from this video. thanks 😉
"It's quite bare, actually!"
I dunno, looks quite cat to me.
Well this took me too long to get.
Lol
didnt expect you to comment lol
I just heard a song composed by The 8 Bit Guy and played on a cat keyboard. I can die happily now.
Kriegsheld, pfff I've seen art with D.Va, Solider 76 and Mercy fighting with Zerg Swarm
The SA-9 is a slightly different colored (to fit better in the colorful 90s) version of the SA-1... A Keyboard from 1989.Yes nearly 30 Years old. And it looks and sounds still better then all new mini Keyboards.
I didn't realize it was that old. I thought I read somewhere that it came out in 2006. I found mine at a garage sale a few months ago.
I've got a Casio SA-39 at home, one of the rarest. They started as of 1989, and the SA-39 is from 1998. The Casio SA-46 and SA-76 are from 2009, and still produced.
I still have my Casio SA1 (works perfectly) even with the original box. It was a gift from my parents 32 years ago. Really liked the video.
I had fond memories of it. The wham demo music makes me believe the keyboard could be more than 2 poly.
I think mine - see above - has the same chip and it has four voices
There was also a dog guitar. My daughter had both. And kudos for the Knight Rider theme. That was really good.
I used to have a dog guitar. Saw one in a Barnes & Noble recently and got a wave of nostalgia
my nephew got something like the meosic keyboard. all he does with it is follow the cat arround and annoy the crap out of it.
lolz Oh noooes....poor kitty...
Color Me Twisted I like your nephew already.
12:31 Knight Rider theme!!! 😄
Thank you! I know what Night Rider is, but I've never seen it and all I could think was "Sounds like a level I never got to in System Shock..."
Michael Casio. A keyboard, That does not exist.
Yeah, that was great.
Auto Gaggins thanks, ur probably one of two people who got it lol
That was stinkin awesome.
This goes to show that some toy keyboards can indeed be useful, even for adults, especially musicians who would want to use them for music production.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. I really loved to see the SA-9. It looks identical to the SA-1 I owned as a kid, back in the 80's. Even the sound when you select another instrument is the same. I bet that this one does not have the awesome "wake me up before you go-go" demo tune. :)
ruclips.net/video/jobh4mRXsGE/видео.html you'd be right - the SA-7 and SA-9 have a Glenn Miller - American Patrol demo song --- ruclips.net/video/jobh4mRXsGE/видео.html ... Apparently the SA-10 also has Wham - Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go) like the SA-1.
Thumbs up for the Knight Rider!
I haven't heard that in a good while.
I can't tell you how cool this is. As a musician I have already been a dedicated follower of the 8 bit guy. Then I discovered your keyboard channel! Made my day!
Sounds like Technobeat wasn't ending old notes to make room for new ones, so it was hitting its 7-note polyphony limit even after you let go of the keys, since it was waiting for the note to finish fading out.
I have a nexxtech keyboard with 7-note polyphony and it will end old notes to make room for new ones, even if I am still holding the key down. Fairly interesting.
I actually had the cat keyboard when I was around 4 or 5. We called it the cat piano though, and eventually we ended up getting rid of it. Kind of interesting to see that they haven't changed in 7 years.
I could understand if you called a "keyboard" a "piano".
I got a 90s Yamaha PSR-82 when I was 2 and that's where I started the road of keys.
So you were 4 or 5 7 years ago. 7 years must seem like an eternity to you.
I am totally going to pick up an Casio SA-9. That thing is a 1980s sound bank for sure! THe SA-76 seems like it has some use too, but the SA-9 is a must have to get those 80s sounds I remember, ha.
I need more Meow keyboard music! 😻
Esse teclado é divertido

This guy wrote a pretty killer song with it.

@@politicaltroll8920 I was going to link him that video. LOL
Go to amsdoll he’s a yuiutuber he has a whole playlist
I use a Casio SA 46 for in home lessons with my voice students that don't have a piano at home. While the sounds aren't stellar, it does the trick and fits in my sheet music bag. A solid tool for $35-40. Great review btw-
I DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING TO MY MEOWSIC KEYBOARD!!!!
No joke, got it from goodwill months ago and installed a mic in and output port!
I pipe my headset through it so i can be a terrible person on Discord
I seen a MEOWSIC Keybroad at a thrift store a few weeks ago. I wish I seen this video a back then. Maybe I would’ve try to mod it. 🎹
I need that keyboard right MEOW!
Tom5tom Entertainment how do you tie a noose
I'm sorry, did you just say "meow?" Haha
Push print screen, open paint or something, paste and print. Now the Meow keyboard is yours. You can have your own Ferrari too!
+Tom5tom Entertainment: That sounds terrible lol.
Good one! ROTFM (Rolling on the floor MEOWING!) 🤣

I had lots of nostalgia
to me this souns like something of of donkey kong country
I SEE YOU FUCKING EVERYWHERE @SoDaftMinecraft
@SoDaftMinecraft I subbed you
@David Hormadaly pfft ok
I really got a kick out of the meowsic keyboard. Doing the mix with audacity was really cool.
8 Bit Keys is always in a better mood than 8 Bit Guy.
He's a sweetheart.
...... I know.
It's. The same guy
....... I knew that.
Don't you hate it when people don't get a joke?
getting there.
I’ve been watching the 8bit guy longer than SML. But been watching both for over 10 years. Everytime I see him review the cat piano, my mind just thinks of all the songs Jeffy sings 😂
I had one of those Casio Tone Banks when I was a kid (early 90s). It looked almost identical and sounded identical, I think the demo button played wake me up before you go-go, although I distinctively remember it having a headphone jack, which this one seems to lack.
Nakna_ankaN 5
The Casio SA-5
or SA-1
Yup me too. Had the same demo too. My sister and I both had them and drove our parents insane with them haha.
1:25 8-Bit Keys confirmed to secretly be a dissertation on the economic state of the lower, middle and upper class in America.
COMRADE KEYS
I liked the part when the cat said “meow.”
You get a like for the work on that teeny little keyboard! I'm impressed :D
I had a toy keyboard back in the day, in the 2000’s. It was great! It had all the notes of a proper keyboard, all the notes a piano has at least, and had switches to let it synthesise numerous different instruments. I still own it, it runs off of AA batteries, and sounds really good to be honest. My favourite part about it is how it has red LCDs in all of the keys, which light up when the key is pressed and it comes with loads of songs which you can select. There’s a switch that toggles if you want it to play the song, or just give directions. If it’s set to play the song, then it plays the song and lights up the keys, but if it’s set to off then it just lights up the keys silently so you can play the song with it! It’s really cool in my opinion. It had loads of other features too like tone controls and metronomes and loads of other stuff.
I had a lot of fun with it as a kid. Although I am terrible at playing, using the pre-recorded songs for practise and the song directions I was able to make some good songs. The keyboard also had proper beat/rhythm control that let you choose from many beats and rhythms and then customise them too, even meaning your own from scratch, and then you could choose the sound it’d use for the beat/rhythm, or you could make it silent and have the keys light up.. I also have some good memories of using the feature it had that let you record a song to replay later. It was brilliant fun to me as a child, and I expect I could break it out of the loft and use it as a proper keyboard. I remember my dad telling me at around that age that most toy keyboards are basically just normal keyboards, albeit somewhat simplified, and that mine was better than most in that aspect.
I’ve also got to give it some props for having normal sized keys, and having the ability to play many keys at once and even record your voice to go along with the song. It was well worth the tiny price of about 30 early 2000’s pounds, if I remember rightly.
I’ve never heard such a thorough review of the Meowsic Keyboard.
This is great. I’m really diggin’ your content. Also, thank you for cleaning, and restoring old keyboards. That’s really awesome of you to do. Anyway, keep it up! #8bitKeys
Heck Yeah, Knight Rider!

Fran-cat-stein keyboard with those bolts in the neck.
First I was thinking: "Ok, why is he even doing something like this?!?" but after a while it got quite interesting speaking of device-modding.
I love what you did with the Casio SA-9. I could listen to that drum loop for several hours.
Yeah !!! Knight Rider !!!
I know! So awesome to hear that theme. Was not expecting it.
The Series was from the 80s and even at that Time the Intro was not technically challenging. It's more the simple Things that remain in our Ears. Someone remember the german Band "Trio" with that cute little Casio Keyboard ?
Could you imagine if 8-bit Keys got his hands on a Yamaha CS-80? Also that cat keyboard is glorious.
yeees! he NEEDS one!
Okay, but if he gets one, he HAS to play something from the Cosmos soundtrack.
nice
My parents bought a “first act discovery” keyboard for my 7 year old brother. He loved it, although it was more of a 5 minute toy. But it’s just hilarious seeing the 8 bit guy playing with one.
6:58 The signal is almost PURRfect 😉

The Casio S49 is exactly what I've been looking for! My Grandma has an old Casio from the 80s that stopped working. This looks perfect to replace it :o
What type your grandma have? I guess that would be a SA-9 or VL-1.....
i can't be the only one who thought the meowsic song was a legitimate bop @ 8:42
No, you aren’t
What is this song called? I can't find it anywhere?
Ok I have to play this "MeowMeowMeowMeowMeowMeowMeowMeow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow"
HAHAHA
I guess not. I know the simpsons did something with that tune.
"I know you can read my thoughts boy, Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum "

Introducing, the B Meowsic Pro
Wow che bel nome
I have to admit, I really enjoyed this episode for a latecomer to the channel, but I was a tiny bit let down that I didn't get to see the insides of the last cheap 'junky keyboard', as well as anything successfully played on either of the last 2. I also understand though. I'm sure you spend enough time on producing these shows for us.
I had bought myself a Yamaha YPG235 a few years ago and was determined to learn how to play it for the first few months I had it, but looking back now I wish I had aimed a little lower, like that Casio SA-9. I think I would have been a little bit less intimidated by it. I also wish I would have found this channel back then as well.
That TECHNO BEAT polyphony is the keyboard equivalent of trying to read words in a dream.
12:31 OMG KNIGHT RIDER !
12:31 - 13:21 DUDE YOU BLEW ME AWAY WITH THAT!!! I wont say what, I don't want to spoil it for anyone 🚘
I swear I had that casio tone bank keyboard sometime in the early 90s, but mine was off white. The sound was so familiar, especially the sound of punching in numbers to switch sounds. Now my daughter had the meowsic. Great vid!
When the Knight Rider theme came up xD
A "special" puppet created by a Florida man loves his cat piano.
I know what you're talking about!😏😘😜
Wot. I feel lost to the reference.
Jeffy uh uh uh uh uh, I actually want this for Christmas though even through I’m way older than 6 lol I’m a huge sml fan
I just found a Techno-Beat keyboard on line. This is one of the most interesting keyboards I've seen. It has a weird design flaw I plan to investigate. Thanks for reviewing this. Also the Meowsic. We all need one of those.
It Been Forever!
OMG! The Knight Rider theme!
I feel old now...
I have an SA77 which looks just like the SA76 but the bottom is grey, and the SA77 has more Indian music and tones on it. Drum pattern 35-39, Song 09 and tones 81 and 85 are based on Indian Instruments. The orange button is harmonium instead of organ.
Also these keyboards have tuning, and allow you to learn demo songs by just playing the drum beat.
12:50 Knight Rider YES! This is why you have to have an awesome dad to show you classic shows and movies
Don't feel special it's the same with my parents!😁
Jk
I watch this and The-A-Team
It was fun with Meowsic
Awesome channel, it's a pleasure watching ! The small Casio is quite good, the reverb sounds good
I have/had zero interest in keyboards, but gotdamn you're engaging!
Indeed I almost skipped this video....I didn't and damn I'm happy I didn't.
"It's quite bear actually..." No, it's defo a cat!
The fact that you took the time to mod a kids toy is hillarious
3:24 am, added one minute ago :D and watching :D this gonna be a good Night :) greetings from Poland :)
It's 5:30 am in Finland, hi there in Poland!
Crazy Ivan it’s almost 6 am
3:18 you just made my day 😂😂
What was that ?
Meow mix commercial song
Just wanted to say I use to binge your 8 bit guy videos once in a while way back in 2015ish, since than.
I picked up the guitar got really serious, joining bands and stuff, and wanted to learn how to read.
Eventually resorted to learning the piano instead. Cause I reasoned it be easier to learn how to play the piano and read then learning to read in the guitar.
Ended up getting serious on the piano too, playing excerpts of Chopin and trying a few pop/indie songs.
However since the only time I can use a real piano is when I go over to my friends or families houses. I spend most of my time practicing on two crappy old second hand keyboards. One of which just broke.
But now that I rediscovered Ur channel and have bought a soldering iron(for guitar mods), I can't wait to get into fixing and possibly modifying my keys. Sorry for the essay just wanted to say u and Ur channels r cool.
I recognize that Technobeat keyboard. I was 10 when I got it back in Christmas 2007. I don't remember what happened to it, though. I think it stopped working after about 2 or 3 years and it got thrown out.
Wavetable Guy Oh hey! Nice to see you here! And yeah, my sister owns a Technobeat. I use it to record samples for... projects.
Or your parent's car was stuck in the mud and the keyboard was in the car
Nice to see you here too, Tobikomi. Also, I (realized that the joke flew over my head. I see that you quoted what The 8-Bit Guy said in the video. That could be another use for the keyboard since it had all the issues that were mentioned in the video).

Just remembered a toy keyboard I had in the 90's, but don't remember what it was called. It was white, the keys could light up, there was a blue ovoid speaker in the top middle with red yellow and green buttons below it, a carrying handle on one side, and there was a way to make it play itself. The piano and organ from the meowsic sound exactly like the keyboard I had as a kid, though it was much more complicated and capable.
15:11 They're toys, but they're fun to play with? Isn't that literally the entire purpose of a toy?
Play as an instrument, and play as a toy are two different things.
@@zekester2097 He said "play *with*" though, which specifically refers to the latter.
@@Sparkette>1 year late
Sss Hhh yes, lol
Should've played the entirety of Cruel Angel's Thesis on the Meowsic xD
LMAO does he even know what that is??? I do and I'd love to hear that. But that isn't in the cards for this video I guess.
Oh man, that song at 8:42 is beyond epic. Loved it!
Watching this late 2019 for the Meowsic...
Do you recommend a meowsic as a first keyboard for someone starting producing music and want that modern aviici sound? thanks.
no
I DO!!!!!!
I'm no musician, but it seems hard with you having to install the line output and stuff so basically in my opinion no.
Rip Avicii

A beautiful trip down memory lane with that awesome Knight Rider theme. Abslutely loved it
3:19 hey thats meowtastic
I kept thinking he was going to play “the lick” but was disappointed when he didn’t :(
In the 90's, I had a hand injury such that I couldn't play a keyboard unless I tilted it up something like an accordion. Those little keyboards were surprisingly good.
I about crapped myself when he said christmas tree bit
20 min video yeeeee
Yamaha PSR-E263 and F51 are decent starters for kids and usually go on sale for around $80 around the holidays. They’re 32-note polyphonic, but not velocity sensitive. The samples are pretty good for the price, and they have a lot of features like sustain, reverb, octave shift, recording, learning modes etc.
Omg! Big Marvel's Meowsic
Omg I want that BTTF Tardis shirt!!
Poble why??
*edit* oh

It's a dumb joke lol, don't worry about it
