Nice update mate , I started watching when you had your pcx as I had the same, I now have a full license and a Versys 650 but I found your videos so informative and useful when I first started. All the best and stay safe.
Thanks dude. Really appreciate the comment. I nearly got a Versys after my first bike got wrote off. But the draw of the inline 4 was too much lol Ride safe. Keep it sticky side down.
When I’ve had a bump, I take a break (3 times in 49 yrs) to ruminate and lose anxiety. You know when it’s time again. A 600 bike is within 10ths of seconds of bigger bikes on uk windy roads.
Sorry to hear of your accident. You can't be too careful even when stopped. My first "big" bike was an ER6f. Cracking machine with a lovely parallel twin engine and plenty enough power. I sold it because after a while my wrists ached and the radiator would steam up when it rained. Can't say I'm impressed with your Bandit choice but each to his own! I predict that after a couple of years you'll return back to a scooter or modest adventure bike as I think you are too intelligent and sensible to start climbing up the crazily over-powerful bike ladder. Good luck with your new ride.
Yeah bandit is a stop gap for now. It’s not crazy powerful. Much more comfortable than my ER6 was. I aches in my wrists and ankles on it in comparison to my bandit. No vibrations from the 4 cylinder engine. Very smooth. Thanks for commenting !
Hi John, Sorry to hear that you haven't had the best of starts to riding your first big bike.....Watching you riding your pcx made me want to get back to biking so I did a refresher in December 19 and now ride a z650 2019 plate, I have passed my advanced IAM test in October 2021 and hope to become an observer next year. Best regards, Ian
That’s awesome. The Z650 is class they look lovely - I did consider one before I got my ER6F - well done on your IAM - always good to extend our learning. I’m considering doing bike safe next year 👍🏻
@@jrewillis Bikesafe is a great place to start to improve but I have had my name down for the course for a while in my area, I will still do it when I get the call. Never stop learning. Safe riding John.
Thanks for sharing your experience. What a situation to find yourself in after a great ride. Fortunately you were spared significant injuries. Looking forward to more videos in 2022. Stay safe!!
Sorry to hear about the issues you had. Some journey... Insurance wise call them as soon as you get the claim sorted they should adjust and reimburse pro rata figure of sorts. Do join ROSPA or similar club as soon as you can - highly recommend. Best of luck.
Enjoying the videos, incl the pcx ones before this. Just wondering if you considered the Honda CB500X ...a great all-rounder...known to be bulletproof, great MPGs (high 70s) and super comfortable upright riding position especially on long journeys) ?
Thanks so much for your comment. I've shoved the new CB500x on the back burner. Currently converting a campervan self build! So it'll have to wait 😀 I'd love to say I'd like to do videos on that. But it's too much effort 🤣
Nice to hear an update John. I started watching your videos last year when you had your new PCX and your experiences you went through in the videos helped me when I purchased my SH125. With the events of 2020/21 I was unsure if I wanted to continue on a CBT or take lessons/test. After seeing the Yamaha Tricity 300 and watching many reviews I decided to upgrade to this as it can be ridden on my B licence. As I also commute through the year the extra front wheel helps provide extra confidence on our autumn and winter roads. Congrats on your newly acquired licence entitlements and your new bike, looks fantastic but so sorry to hear about the incident you had a lucky escape as it sounded as if it could of been much worse. Do you feel the top box gives additional rider protection? Absolutely agree with you regarding insurance. I've always paid for vehicle insurance and understood why it's required but the whole system, and the insurance companies are stuck in the past. It needs to change. I had some unbelievable issues trying to insure the Tricity 300, Bennetts said I did not hold the correct licence despite them even producing a video stating it can be ridden on a car licence issued pre 2013. I did complain and they agreed I was correct and stated they were investing in better training, on licences, for their agents.
Just to add - Regarding tours, I too am planning some tours in the UK. I can recommend 'Bikers' Britian - The Tours' by Simon Weir. Clear, well written with excellent routes, either A to B or loops (A to A). Covers the whole of Britain.
Yes - I think the top box offers more visibility rather than protection. Drivers look for a block or bulky object. To be honest I reckon she’d have hit me if I was in my car. Totally oblivious. I nearly got a Piagio MP3 - but the insurance was a real issue as they wanted a full A - rather than car license and I couldn’t find a reasonable price for it to be insured on a car license. I’ll check out the book - thanks for the tip!
Great clear review as usual. Glad that the accident didn't stop you riding. Being rear ended on a bike does generate anxiety in me. Both are great looking bikes but given you're partly a commuter did you consider a powerful maxi scooter to save on gear changes etc?
Yeah true. For the first few weeks after I was very anxious about getting hit again. I’m ok now though. Did consider a scooter, but tbh other than pulling away my bandit mostly stays in 3rd it’s got loads of torque and can almost stop in 3rd. The 600 pulled away from a standstill in 3rd no issue 😂😂😂
Wow lucky escape mate. F***** idiots out there. Glad you're OK 👍

Yeah I've been back to riding now and feel fine. Can't wait for this summer now. Fingers crossed for decent weather.
Great vid john as always 👍
Cheers John!

Indeed. I’ll look into signing up soon then if there is a wait time. Ride safe Ian 👍🏻

Yes all sorted now. Thank god. And my no claims back too! Just stress no one needs. I’m looking at IAM/ROSPA and planning a bike safe course this year
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had such an awful time of it. But I’m glad you’re well and you have a new set of wheels! Good times ahead!
Thanks Phil 👍🏻
