You always make drab little photos look so cheerful and colorful.
Whereas, despite my best efforts, I do the exact opposite 😂
Thanks 😊👍
I love that you are adding people to your scenes! They add so much life to a scene and drawing people can be more intimidating than buildings alone. I really learned a lot as you commentated the process. Thank you so much. Again loose but accurate is a real skill.
Thank you so much!
Oh thank you Toby, this is so helpful. Hearing you talk us through watching you draw really helps. It's soothing and instruction-ey, haha, all at once.
You are so welcome
I would love to see more of your steps. Thank you
Absolutely 😁
Thankyou, lovely finished piece.
Oh, and its a strap...on the bag...😂 im always forgetting words...not speaking my native language doesnt help...but often a little sketch describes exactly what i needed to say😊
😁
This is absolutely superb. Thank you for sharing. Off to get my sketchbook out !😊
You’re welcome 😊
Lovely. Reminds me of my Mom. Always at the nursery. She's gone now..your painting speaks to me. I might try it myself..you don't need all the details to evoke emotion
Please do!
so much captured and a drawing that flows easy on the eye. Great the way you don't over work the pictures - stunning
Thank you so much 😀
My people skills are coming along thanks to you!
Keep it up
So helpful! I will watch a few times, then will try with my own photograph. So helpful to watch you paint! Thank you!
Have fun!
Been watching & learning from u for over a yr. Couldn't help but notice the wedding band .. or lack there of. Hoping all is well in ur world
Getting married in a couple of months 😉 have a 'trial band' to get used to wearing a ring 💍 and to work out my ring size! So I don't wear it all the time. Well spotted!
Sweet
We’ve been traveling over the last few days and thanks to your earlier video, I’ve started paying attention to where people show up when I take reference photos so that I can include them for my drawings. Thanks for the inspiration and continued instruction on this topic!
Great to hear!
Love this!!
Thanks 🙏
❤ this!
Excellent and a big help! People are a self confidence issue with me.
Thanks, l 😊
I found this really useful. Love the way you explain things.
Glad to hear it!
The come back with the ink towards the end is the magic moment for me. That's in all your vids the case. 😊
I'm so glad!
I love your video, very simple, very useful ! thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Most excellent! Thanks
You are welcome!
It looks great!😊❤
Thank you! 😊
Loved this. Great to see something a little different. I may even give it a go myself😊
Go for it!
Thanks Toby. I am inspired to add people to my sketching. I have been following you since seeing your Wheathampstead high street sketch a while ago. Bought up my children there.
That is awesome! Amazing little town!!
Very helpful ! Thanks 😊
You're welcome 😊
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I needed it because I struggle with sketching people, but now I feel much more confident. I’ve been looking for more videos from you, and hoping you do another live one soon.
Glad it was helpful!
This was helpful, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Ok Ok. You convinced me to subscribe. Thank you for the editing and presentation of your style.
Welcome aboard! And thanks for the comment!!
What an exquisite study of drawing two people. The translation of that moment in time from a photo to your sketch was mesmerising to watch. It really shows that it’s great to practice on really any scene, and just not a picture-perfect one. Thank you for sharing it. I also noticed the characteristic sound of a dog shaking at 4:03 which made me laugh. 🤣❤️
Thank you so much 😀
Very good lesson!
Thanks! 😃
In this sketch the persons are the primary motive. But I think that in the loose shape of the people the high age got lost.
A fair point ☝️
I loved hearing your dog shake in the background :-)
😀
Another wonderful video where you make it all look so simple but it actually is much more difficult. I continue to wonder how you can get your colors so soft without leaving hard edges. I add tons of water as you suggest but still the edges will dry hard which is not what I want. My sketchbook is a cold press, 90 lb paper, do you think that is part of my problem?
You could try heavier paper, might help
