I stumbled upon this channel by chance. So glad I did. These vehicles are so impressive, not only for their almighty sound and performance, but the design and engineering that has to go into creating one of these beasts. Keep the vids coming, I'm hooked!
Wicked camera work, flying dirt & dust, sweet buggies, what else does a guy need but to sit back with a cold one & enjoy great entertainment. Better than TV any day! Thanks for sharing it with us Matt.
It was dark by the time the awards ceremony happened. Check out our Race to Riches 2 full rock rods episode for the full event with driver names and live leaderboard.
[ramblings of a lunatic] I LOVE these events because, even as wild as Ultra4 is, I think a lot of people really have this idea that "...well, they're great for West coast stuff - desert and dry rocks - BUT..." and actually underestimate how well rounded & versatile these cars truly are. Of course they're tuned for the events that they compete at, but, between the East coast U4 races and these far too rare but far too awesome rock bouncing crossover events(obviously the annual U4 v RB event at Hammers must be mentioned), it really shows how incredible these machines are! The top rigs & drivers certainly have the potential to podium at almost any SRRS event but U4s obviously will never dominate in rock bouncing - that's the beauty of these motorsports that basically only have safety rules and allow these guys to truly build specifically for the type of racing & terrain without compromise - but that isn't the point; rather it's that there may not be another vehicle in motorsports that is as truly versatile, and LEGITIMATELY competitive in such a wide variety of racing as Ultra4s, by the very nature of their design. And THAT is an incredible thing to witness from its inception through the evolution of refinement, we're lucky to be witnessing this from the very beginning(only a decade old)! I mean, who in the hell EVER thought in 2017 that, in a decade, Trophy Trucks & Class 1 buggies(that have largely stagnated in terms of evolution for quite a long time now) would be getting innovations in suspension design & parts and, more than anything, in drivetrain design & parts from "those rock crawler guys"?! Rock crawling honestly wasn't taken that seriously by the desert guys, but King of the Hammers single handedly has changed EVERYTHING in off road racing. In fact, I don't think most people actually realize THAT - how much the off-road industry has changed in the last decade due solely to KoH. On the world stage, for the longest time there was only TWO real 'above all else' off-road races, the cream - and, in just 10 years of existence, there is now a third: Baja 1000 Dakar Rally And now King of the Hammers
When you put it that way - parts developed in Ultra4 are showing up in Trophy Trucks AND Rock Bouncers - I think that really puts these cars into perspective, incredible stuff!
it should be laid out in the rule books for whatever class you are wanting to build for. if you are just doing it as a hobby build i would still suggest following a rule book of some kind for some kind of class similar to what you want to go wheeling on. the rules books are designed to keep the drivers safe start with that. www.ultra4racing.com/sites/default/files/ULTRA4-rule-book.pdf
I'd like to suggest that maybe "HE'S OUT! HE'S OUT! HE'S OUT!" isn't all that matters, as there's fuel pretty much pumping out of the vehicle right next to you.
After learning about the beginning and the evolution of KOH I'm seeing the ULTRA4 trucks in a whole new light. King Of The Hammers sparked a new breed of racing and a new industry. And it's been amazingly only around since 2007! These trucks may be not as good at hill killing as the rock bouncers but they are the Swiss army knife in the offroad world - since desert rock racing combines two very different worlds... ;-) This is the masterpiece of a video I'm referring to: ruclips.net/video/-2c17UAQKSU/видео.html

more on the way, their biggest race of the year is coming up

Thanks!
Epic stuff!! If i'd ever get a change for a USA roadtrip, visiting an Ultra4 event will be one of the goals!
good call
As we learn the different drivers; it would be nice to flash a picture of the winners rock crawlers in victory circle. Great video! "w.w."

Now I wanna see a Ultra4 VS Rock Bouncer Tug Of War.
Lol, the heavier one always wins that

most people don't realize how many of the parts Ultra4 cars run that were developed for Rock Bouncers. 300m RCVs, Hero Transfer Cases, etc.
When you put it that way - parts developed in Ultra4 are showing up in Trophy Trucks AND Rock Bouncers - I think that really puts these cars into perspective, incredible stuff!
Ultra4 cars are the new trophy truck, well that and UTVs
Should be titled "hills go ultra4 killing"
Yeah there was a fair amount of that
AGREED!
the hills junked these guys out for sure.
Is was just about to add this exact comment 😁
part of the fun learning how
I saw multiple fuel cells leaking after a roll.....thought that was the point of requiring a fuel cell....to keep the fuel in.
yeah, that is why U4 requires a bladder fuel cell
3:40 i thought it was confetti for a second 😂😂😂
hit that tree hard
awesome vid man loved watching it
Thanks I thought the Ultra4 guys deserved a highlight video from R2R2

They are well rounded vehicles and they should be for the price
Yeah these ultra4 cars are more meant for high speed desert and rock crawling haha these hills killed 'em!
The winner was in a U4 car
Nothing wrong with fast what we all strive for
now going fast up the hill is the hard part
Whats the average hp of an ultra4 car?
Id say 500-700
Yeah about 500-700 a few have 800+ but they start to break things with that much power
Sikk footage Ultra4 trucks are gnar gnar
they just need to work on their hill killing lol
They're too busy going 120MPH and climbing over each other's hoods to worry about hills!
good point. Not many big hills at the hammers
baja buggies soup up
they are fast
