Consider this my notes from week 1 of Nova in Marvel 3. Feel free to ask any questions.
I wanted to type up a tech transcrip of my video to make sure everyone understands all the technology:
1)The BnB combo, shows it working midscreen
2)A BnB that is screen specific, but takes them to the corner and does slightly better damage.
3)Corner combo, better damage and meter than the BnB
4)Throw combo in the corner. Great damage because you don't have to OTG
5)Showing Ground Fly/Unfly is possible. Not sure how useful this is, cool though.
6)The Optimum Solo Corner combo.
7)Nova Spencer BFF BnB
8)Showing what's possible if you hit with the C wall bounce meaty. The meaty hit lets me link the launcher afterward, meaty created with 2 backwards Plink Dashes.
9)Showin that the first 2/3's of Nova Inferno have Hard Knockdown, and an application. Devil Trigger would work to for example.
10)Double Hyper possible with Drones
11)Combo after Nova Rocket with Javelin
12)Combfiends patented spencer snap mixup
13)Standard Javelin Vortex. Doing it off Centurion C is best becaus the Javelin will hit them as they land rather than in the air... unless they air dash, then it will hit them in the air...
14)Javelin Tech Glitch... shrug
15)Aegis Reflector Crossup, this is much more useful than it looks, more on it later.
16)Getting Frank to lvl5 on just 3 bars.
17)Xfactor loop, I have improved this slightly since yesterday actually..
18)Demonstrating the correct timing to combo after a raw tag post crumple. It is actually very specific. Also, that Gravimetric Blaster has a much longer untech window than Nova Inferno, and is better depending on who you DHC into.

nova is easily my best character. whenever my friends come over and want to play they forbid me from using him. seriously the only character i've taken the time to learn!

@hioxd S is jump cancelable but not special cancelable so you have to do a jump install. It's the same as a TK motion, so 2147C. You can also do it with 5C>214C (no TK motion), but it does a little less damage.

@fkylw Depends on the combo really, L causes a soft Knockdown (hence the ADD jH) and M causes a wallbounce. H is to heavy to combo into without help. That's why I use the spencer assist to do it.
The music is from megaman 6. It's infinity minjinion's theme.

Do you really have to play with Viper? You could switch her with Hawkeye and play Nova / Spencer / Hawkeye, which is a fairly strong team. Maybe even Sentinel instead of Hawkeye, for better rushdowns. Wesker could be good as well, or some Vergil action :-) If you want to keep Viper, then Viper / Nova / Spencer for sure. Try to gather as much meter and damage as possible with vast usage of Viper and when she is dead let the dreamteam Nova / Spencer do the rest.
Right, who gets the first touch of death. And I just think teleporting characters have a distinct advantage in that department. I wish i could say I don't see zero as much of a threat but I've seen nasty solo combos from friends and know better I guess. Don't you just see some characters have those simple combos that just turn into touch of deaths?
Nova is a blast to use! All he does is kick and punch people as hard as he can, and he flies. Who doesn't enjoy those things (particularly, the kicking and punching)?! And I agree--FUCK WESKER! llooll So much fun to hate his imaginary behind. I'd be remissed if I didn't mention: THE EGGMAN! Classic. Keep it up the good work!
I'm having problems doing the double back wave dash after the H rocket punch in the Nova-Spencer-Wesker swag combo, I'm playing with a ps3 controller, I'm getting my v3-SA Hori fightstick soon, but until then, how do you do the back wave dashes? because when I try to do the second one, Nova throws the H kick (I'm dashing with M and H). Help please!
I kept lookingat 2:49 and 2:49 again and I see either a glitch or that guy just flies straight 90 degrees down on Wesker while doing a rush 90 degrees to the right. Just my imagination. Just my imagination...

That's actually the best order. If you're very good with Viper, she is a great point-character. Spencer usually makes a good anchor character, but Combofiend used him often as the third character in the past and had some great combacks. Maybe you can check out few of his videos.
Good combos. Gets redundant seeing the same heavy loop over and over. But regardless it's good damage. The "Aegis" reflector resets seems very unrealistic though, Nova has a very slow air dash, frankly, I'd just
A) Back dash if I was mid-screen, or
B) Super jump out the corner.
Still nice combos.
@OdiIon616 Each combo was designed to showcase a different piece of technology more so than be something that Desk would put together, but yeah, there was alot of heavy loops, no much I could do about that, I tried to edit it in an order that minimized it.
The aegis reflector reset is better then it seems. If you roll forward you have to block a crossup reflector, and if you roll back you eat a mixup (because you rolled). Also, since it's a reset you can cal assists again. In my case, drones.
@okizemeTV It's called a jump cancel cancel. It means you cancel the first frames of a jump into a special. Its really just a very specific type of kara-cancel. It means that you can cancel any jump cancelable move into a special, even if it can't normally be cancelled. Nova makes heavy use of this. In terms of the input, it's just 8A+S for the Javelin, or 2147C for the Crumple. I've got plans to explain it in one of my future Tricks & Tech videos, so... stay tuned I guess.
after launch, super jump after them with an H, as soon as the H connects, go into flight mode, then hit H again, and as soon as that one hits, unflight. once you start falling, hit with another H. it takes quite a bit of practice, but you'll get it.
@RoGraves2012 it takes time and practice dude, always try landing those combos and dont resort to lame spamming. thats what i did and it took me forever to get good at the game until i stopped and figured what connects into combos and stuff like that.
@jhvidst2 sir its not that bad once you've been through a couple of times. its not my first rodeo with that game im very familar with the difficulty in that game, i guess the games makes up for its awfulness by having awesome music
nova is great on point! do you use him 2nd or 3rd? i don't think he is that great of an anchor because he doesn't have that solo comeback factor like some other characters do, plus he really benefits from a good assist.
Hey bro, I just learned how to do this maybe 70% of my attempts this week. It's Heavy, Fly, Heavy, Unfly, Heavy. It just takes repeating it in practice mode. Once you get the timing it's pretty basic though.
How do you do that spencer assist combo, then you to Fwd.H and it looks like S and spencer assist at the same time into hard rocket punch...i can't seem to get it for some reason.. the rocket punch doesnt come out
It's all fancy and all but cuz of the hit stun deterioration all of these do just as much as his regular BnB even his ez c.m j.s mmh qcb.L skrull ball do the same damage as most the high hitting combos without assist in this vid
I remember someone's online Video Nova guide stating that there are different versions of the Energy Javelin. From my testings, I believe they are all the same (A+S, B+S, C+S). Do you know anything about this?
@michacrocop The important part is that you DHC from the first 2/3 of Nova Inferno and you do it high enough that Frank's super will wiff. You can just DHC after the regular BnB, I did the Spencer one for the sake of being more entertaining in the video.
@arti31415 I actually use the Wesker Dummy because he has the most normal hitbox of all the characters in the game, and now, an even 1,000,000 hp. I also, derive alot of joy from beating him up, even though he's on one of my teams.
Do you think you could add the notation for some of these in the description? The BnB mainly. Here's what I was able to get from the BnB:
j.M, s.M, s.H, S, sj, j.H, fly, j.H, unfly, j.H, s.H, S, sj, j.H, j.S, f.H, S, j.H, Super Nova

specifically how are you getting the crumple in the nova/spencer best friends combos... every time i hit the hard rocket punch it wall bounces the char- is the combo timing really that hard?

@Ninjamonkey46 that's the team i play with right now! altho i'm thinking of dropping skrull, sad to say (he was my favorite in vanilla). what assists do you use, if u dont mind me askin :)

@cycrone um... even the outdated BnB in this vid out damages that by more then 100k, and my updated BnB by even more. That's not even taking meter gain into account. You should do your research...
@JanGamex Nah, it was just a joke. Besides, Wesker probably isn't even among the top 5 characters in this game. I always use him as a dummy though, because he has a very normal hitbox.

@jhvidst2 Would it be possible to skip spencer in that combo and use him later for the frank otg pickup to allow frank to get 2 cameras (thus instant level 5)
@magneticmagnum Nope, there's only one version, you can use whatever button though. Also, it doesn't hit high, don't know who has been spreading that rumor.
There isnt really a best character and there is no such thing as a top character because all of them are good depending on the way you use them.
@thumper3662 I use nova with nova strike, super skrull with orbital grudge (which has a lil bit of invicibility) and wesker with his gunshot

I can do the BnB in the corner just fine... i just cant do it mid screen. Do I have to be faster or is there a trick to doing it?

I love Nova but his normal flight combo bnb is enough for me in a real match. All this other shit is just impractical.
@StriderHoang If that were the case, they should be able to forward or neutral roll. But they can't, *shrug*

@Vaxtin Keep practicing, Nova's Fly/Unfly combo actually works better if you slow the whole thing down.

@ariscool24 Everything in this vid is practical. Some is just hard. Practice makes perfect.
I have to admit; Nova can be a little cheap in the sense his combo can be put in at a much slower pace than a lot of others. I have him in my team just because he's a great fail safe for pro player matches when you F*CK up with one of your other choices; never had him as a starting character in a match though as it never seems to be an effective start

I have some questions about the Energy Javelin, how are you inputting it after the launcher? I'm assuming it's sjc'd but even then I'm not sure what you're doing after the initial hit on the way up. j.c? Any help appreciated, thanks!

@jhvidst2 I know what you mean. But I've had it happen to me before in other instances, like a second Bionic Bomber and maybe one time it happened with Deadpool's Katanarama. Anyways, it's good for Nova.

@FusionshadowXJ The first song was Infinity Mijinion from Megaman X6. The second song was E.G.G.M.A.N., Dr. Eggman/Robotnik's theme from Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle).
The Energy Javelin reset isn't a glitch I think. You spent your ground bounce option on Nova's ground pound so when the javelin comes down, they immediately roll out.

Eggman saw this video & used Nova against Maximillian in Episode 8 of the Online Warrior (he switched him out for Hawkeye on the second fight against Max).
