All guitar plays should watch Blixa, that is how you look cool on stage.

Ace performance. I'm seeing Nick in march and I'm beyond excited, but I miss this line up.

@ZRedPoppy Personally, I think he looks better without the 'stache. Also, I think, for the most part, the music was better, too. Plus, I'm blaming the 'stache for scaring off Blixa Bargeld and Mick Harvey.
Please don't take the last sentence seriously, I just want them back in the band, that's all.

@ZRedPoppy But when a musician with such class and sophistication performs live, it's important for him to have a good image. I mean, Tom Waits wouldn't be Tom Waits if it wasn't for his looks and clothing. David Bowie wouldn't be David Bowie if it wasn't for his constant invention of fashion senses. These people are not just musicians, they're classy motherfuckers.

"Your"? You mean You're, yes? Listen, when you've been making music for 35+ years there are BOUND to be a couple of duds. I think "Let Love In" happens to be one of them. It's half good, at best. "From Her To Eternity"; "Your Funeral My Trial; "Tender Prey"; "The Good Son"; "Henry's Dream"; "Murder Ballads"; "Abattoir Blues"; Are all BRILLIANT, perfect. "Nocturama"; "No More Shall We Part"; "The Firstborn Is Dead"...lesser works. As is "The Boatman's Call" and the "Lazarus" record.

This album, along with "Tender Prey", "The Good Son" and "Henry's Dream", is my favourite - all coming after one another in his catalogue of euphony and cacophony.

I recall being REALLY disappointed when this album came out. REALLY disappointed. I mean, yes, THIS song is VERY good; the title track is lovely; the closing song is wonderfully sinister. But as a whole, I think it's weak: "Lay me low" is dull as shite. "Thirsty Dog" is trying hard to be exciting and failing, as is "Jangling Jack." "Nobody's baby now" and "Aint gonna rain anymore" are just sorta...there. Still Nick Cave, still godhead. But "Let Love In" MIGHT be his weakest record. That is all

"Lay Me Low" is as good as any of the others 😅 The lyrics are both moving and funny, from an autobiographical perspective, and I like the way it builds to a bellowing crescendo.
