I’m new to sewing and was just thinking today about making my own curtains for my 1 bedroom window. Then I came across this video , or it came across me, and my wheels are turning!! Yours are very cute! I love how personalized this is😃
Your new curtains are so pretty. I think the length is perfect; I bet it makes changing your bedding much easier not having to fight with the curtains! ❤
Thank you so much! And yes! Making my bed and changing out the sheets is much easier. Plus, my pup can go over and stick her little head under the curtain and look outside which is a big bonus for her! haha!
Those are beautiful! I have made curtains before but not with quilt blocks. Personally I probably would have made them a little wider to be able to gather them a little when they are closed but the are darling!
You did a nice job! The are very cute!! I am just catching up on some of your previous videos, had to give this one a look when I saw in in the playlist. Now you will have a new sewing place to make more curtains, right? Can’t wait to see what you come up with!!
Very cute! Love your dog! 🙂 I agree with the comment about the width. Also, I would not have hung them so high above the window and would have made them long enough to fall just below the window sill. I realize that you were unhappy with the original curtains because they were too long but they really should cover the entire window. The fabric line is just adorable!
Your curtains are adorable! The fabric is so whimsical. Great Job!! By the way I used your link for MSQ and I saved quite a bit on my order. Thank you so much!💖
This is exactly what I’ve been wanting to do and you’re gonna help me along. So cute and thank you for your help and awesome simple video which is so easy and helpful to understand.
Tip: To keep it straight in my head as to which way to press the seams in each row. I have the odd numbered rows go to the right (odd number of letters in that word) and even numbers, I press to the left, which has an even number of letters.
I am watching how you figured the math on how wide to make curtains. Every time I do research on how wide you need, they recommend you make them 1 and 1/2 times the width of window, not the same width as window, for a bit of fullness and looks better than the flat look you get with same width. They do look cute!
You certainly can make them wider! It’s totally up to you and the look you’re going for. For mine, I usually have them pushed to side, so I didn’t need a bunch of extra width, and I personally like the look of them when they are closed. When the sun shines through, it looks like stained glass since they lay pretty flat. 💖 thanks for watching!
What?! You’re from Missouri? I live in Illinois about 35 miles east of STL. We are practically neighbors lol. I’m a newbie quilter and just started binge watching you. Love your channel
@@StitchObsessed Go Chiefs!!! I don’t know anything about sports, but it’s always fun to have a hometown team playing in the Super Bowl. I just like the food, halftime show, and commercials 🤪
@@jaclynmoylan1905 😂 I’m right there with you! The only football games I watch are the superbowl, and I didn’t start watching till I moved to MO 8 years ago 😂😂😂
I have never had good luck using quilting cottons for curtains. After the first summer, they were already bleaching out in the middle, even with a lining. I was always told to use white/light lining as it reflected light so used a tightly woven heavier muslin, still got bleaching and the curtains never looked nice after 2 year max. I was told I could use an additional black cotton layer between the lining and the pieced layer but never tried that. Too much work and would be hard to press through all those layers. I guess this is one reason why drapery fabrics are so thick. Geography might have played a role in my difficulties as I was living in north-central California at the time, very hot and sunny.
Oh yeah, I could see how the sun could bleach out the color. I’m actually curious if that will happen with mine 🤔 it could look cool! We shall see! Maybe I’ll do an update video in a year if they’ve faded. Thank you for sharing!
