In reference to you having to stay with that group for the duration of the movie, it almost sounds like whoever was working at the box office or greeter station was confused or mistaken about their theater's policy (maybe a new person just learning the rules)? Also, do you know if that particular theater has a curfew where after a certain time at night, people under 18 must be accompanied directly with a guardian 21 or older? Some theater's in Florida have similar policies to that. Otherwise, your guess is as good as mine. I know people who work at a movie theater and they've never heard of a policy such as you describe for a non-R rated movie.
Yeah…not sure. They were going to a 6pm showing, so a curfew seems unlikely. It seemed crazy to me. Growing up, my brother was 6 years older than me, so I went with him to movies all the time…even some r-rated
