Love the trail guides. I drove from Philly to Ouray to go over Imogene Pass in my 2020 Toyota 4Runner ORP because I knew I could based on your videos, then I went to Fins and Things the next day and realized how much steeper things are in real life as opposed to seeing them on video, but again, I knew my rig could do it because you showed me. I never would have crossed those off my bucket list if you hadn't showed the way. Thank you, and keep up the good work, we appreciate it.
Hey Roman, a suggestion- why don’t you pack two go-bags that anyone can grab when they go offroading. Put in them: Air compressor Tire repair kit Tow strap Kinetic rope of mid-weight Tree saver strap 3 soft shackles Basic medical kit Military surplus trenching tool Large handle axe Basic like 8-12 in knife with serrated back edge Leatherman Portable allen wrench set in metric and SAE Portable Torx wrench set Work gloves Safety goggles And for your location- a blanket, a couple of those silver emergency blankets, a couple military surplus ponchos, a couple of winter hats and gloves. Put it all in a duffle just long enough to fit the axe. Leave them in the same spot after returning. For you guys constantly in different vehicles, a lot of which you don’t even own, and trying to get out quickly, it would give you everything you need in a grab and go package.
@@Malc664 I’m a huge proponent of being pre-packed and, if you use it, you clean and repack so it is good to go next time. Makes forgetting stuff a lot less likely.
As a noob offroaded, I really like these, because it lets me know the difficulty VISUALLY, not just a subjective "trail rating" fron AllTrails or whatever. I have a 2024 Colorado ZR 2 that has FAR more capability than I do as a driver, so, this is helpful for me to gage the difficulty level seeing the vehicle you guys used. Excellent vid as always, keep 'em coming!
Keep making these, Roman! I enjoy the beautiful scenery. Plus, you still get to see how the vehicles are performing on an offroad trail that the average person is going to take if they are visiting the area.
Some of my favorite videos you have done. Don't stop! I don't get to do these trails. The next best thing is sitting down with a cup of coffee or a beer and enjoying the scenery and vehicles.
These trail guides are great! I actually just bought a nearly identical D90 and making a trip out to CO next week to explore a few trails so this couldn't be timed better. Keep up with the series!
Boring? No way. I love these videos as I live in Scotland where you need a ton of permits and permissions AND be a member of a club (to afford the liability insurance in case you damage property or walkers/ mountain bikers ) . We have spectacular off-roading like this but not to such heights or with such scenery (it rains a lot here!) so it’s great to see how the other half lives with no legal restrictions on access. Keep doing the videos please so I can plan my next USA holiday to Colorado with a rental 4x4.
Thanks for this series...really enjoying it. Making a list of trails to visit for my next CO trip and this series is a big help. You guys are so fortunate to have so many beautiful trails available to you. Especially ones that aren't mud bogs like most of the trails in the eastern part of the country.
I try not to miss any of your trail guides. I will be retiring very soon and taking some of these passes are on my things to do list. As a novice it gives me an idea of picking a pass my rig can handle. Keep them coming!
I do like the trail guides. I just wish more people would watch and like, to make sure TFL has a reason to keep on doing them. Not sure if they would be possible over winter, but I'm hoping there is something you can do. I've also had a long term back injury before, so I feel your pain when you have to stop and air down.
Ignore the naysayers in the office. Keep these coming. Would love to see some San Juan trails like Mineral Creek, or the Alpine Loop with lots of time lapse to make the video reasonable length.
Roman, Thank you for the trail videos. They are a terrific reference for those of us who want to explore Colorado. I've had a summer home in Denver for 15 years and haven't hit the trails yet. Because of your vids, I'm going to take my 2008 LR3 on some this next spring and break in the pavement princess. I'm the 3rd owner and it has just under 100,000 miles. Cheers.
It is wonderful information. Couple pictures on onX don’t give nearly the context that these videos do. Great stuff. Keep doing em. Also these are the kind of videos that will have a really long engagement tail. They will still be relevant years from now.
Thank you for this Roman. Really enjoy this concept. Living over in Oxford, Oxfordshire, it's great fun to see and explore with you. Hope to get the chance to get back Stateside and do some exploring of my own. Meanwhile, look forward to the next one.
The trail guides are great! I look forward to new ones coming out. I'm planning a trip up to Denver when I get my GX 550 and these guides are helping me decide which trails to go on.
No, no, no. These are not boring, they're relaxing! The BOYS in the office quite frankly don't know what they're talking about. Dang wipper-snappers! Haha!!!
Lifted coils gives you best off road capability and ride off road BUT downside is inner city headroom, highway road handling, fuel economy. LR 3, 4, new defender air suspension works very well. It automatically adjusts height somewhat when get into the rough stuff even on normal height. Use off road height when you need it. There are better options than Johnson rods for that super extended height.
I am enjoying the series. I have the fun treks book and love the video of the trail. Planning a trip to CO, from PA, next year 2025 to so some of these trails. Keep making them!
To be honest, i was watching TFL offroad for a wile (im from Bulgaria) and some of our roads are like those trails from the clips and recently decided to go fo RR Evoque - since i was pritty interested for the experiance of RR brand and test it myself, and i must say, TFL gave absolutly spot on reviews for the brand. I enjoy goin to ski, also enjoy spend time in the mountain and RR gave all this and more (and in terms of reliability i must say that it is fairly good so far).
The proper way to off-road a Land Rover with the air suspension is generally to just ride at stock height and only lift it when a specific obstacle requires it. Lifting them with Johnson Rods is also a bad idea, absent spacers like the SYA kit that Lucky 8 sells.
Still getting to know my wife's new (to us) Defender 110. Just got back from a 36 hour round trip in it and it was flawless. Not so sure I'd take it offroad but its definitely been a joy to own so far.
Roman, @10:50 when shifting the Defender, you have to be sure to press that trigger on the shifter stalk. Just moving it up or down won't make it go into gear. It's burned me a couple of times.
I used to own a Range Rover 4.0 in the late 90’s. It had air ride suspension which came in handy because you could raise the vehicle on tough obstacles. I never had any issues with reliability of the air suspension. I don’t know why people talk poorly of air ride. I mean Semi trucks have air ride and can go 1/2 million miles without any issues 😮
I could that trail on my skateboard. Lol Keep up trail guides. They are super informative and fun. Maybe a few more stops with vids of the trail and scenery along the way if you have time.
Hey guys- why don’t you use the screw on deflator devices that they sell, and you could just screw them onto all four tires so it would deflate quickly to a set volume? You could have them in your glove box or pocket even..
Haven't had the best luck with consistency on those devices. Best air down method is get a tire gauge and valve stem tool. Pull the valve stem out, usually 1 second per psi. Check with gauge and screw the stem back in. Fastest and most reliable way to do it.
This is a really good video series Roman! I have a request. Could they debut Sundays?? There’s just something about these vids while I have my Sunday cup of coffee!! TIA 😂
This trail is at best a 3. Any high clearance vehicle even in stock form should be just fine. That being said I’d still recommend not doing it on street tires. Any mild ATs will do.
@7:17 If you used TrailsOffroad instead of OnX, you'd know that Middle Fork Swan is MUCH harder than Georgia Pass. OnX BUY$ all their data and all their credibility (like making Roman's boat payment). TrailsOffroad's data is all mapped and maintained by contractors, wheels on dirt. AND it's MUCH cheaper.
From the beginning the one to bought was the 90, I never understood why you decided for the 110. But please promise us that you will lift this car buahaha
Maybe I'm not using onx correctly but I can't find a way for it to navigate me to the trail head, Alltrails will do it. Just for that reason I use Alltrails app more. Any suggestions?
Thank you for the responses. We traded our Defender for the CT. We took the defender off road regularly but the CT feels so much wider and I’m don’t the visibility would be as good but I’m willing to try.
@@DaciaProject Yep, Toyota has had some major reliability issues with their new products. Turbos, transmissions, diffs, engines, I wouldn't trust one to go offroad with.

Excellent idea there. We used to have safety bags for our trucks if we were taking dangerous goods it had all the gear if there was an incident.
@@Malc664 I’m a huge proponent of being pre-packed and, if you use it, you clean and repack so it is good to go next time. Makes forgetting stuff a lot less likely.
Makes too much sense for these guys. It's not like they spend a lot of time in or around vehicles...🤔
13:34 What a classic TFL moment when the tire blew a second time, Tommy’s reaction was priceless, thanks for doing real world reviews 👍
From Queensland Australia and I enjoy seeing the trails over there.

Good times! Not boring. I pick up my D90 tomorrow and appreciate you sharing some trails. Thanks!
Roman, you really need to remember to bring recovery gear to include a good air down tool and good air compressor when hitting trails
they never prepare for their treks trails or travels.
