    Best thing about this interview is seeing the love these two women genuinely have for one another. Respect.

    Although there was a stumbly ending to the last question, the bulk of it was Lily and Amanda really caring about the advice they’re giving to the kid and that’s so nice and refreshing to see! Rather than celebrities just being like “never give up follow your dream” they actually recommended real ways of getting out there. I love them both

    I went to see the movie yesterday. My lord I don't think I've ever cried and laughed so much in in my life. I can't even say which movie is better. The best songs in mh opinion
    are when I kissed the teacher, one of us, Fernando, Angel eyes and I've been waiting for you.

    Well... I just saw Mamma Mia 2 and I'm not quite sure how to put my emotions into words. I won't spoiler, though, so feel free to keep reading even if you haven't seen the movie (I think that no matter what stage of knowledge you're at, we all know that Meryl doesn't have a lot of screen time, so I don't consider that a spoiler!).
    I didn't know what to expect. Mamma Mia is one of my favourite movies of all times and it holds a very special place in my heart. As we have all seen countless bad or semi-bad (slash repetitive!) sequels, I wasn't sure what to think when I heard they were making a sequel / prequel to the ultimate feel-good musical movie of 2008, especially when I found out Meryl's part wouldn't be very large (that is not a spoiler ;)!).
    So I drove to the cinema tonight thinking I might hate it, or be disappointed, or like it, but that it would certainly not be as good as the first and NEVER EVER hold the place in my heart that the first one does. But now, I'm not so sure...
    Of course the film has too little Meryl in it for my liking (and probably most of you, too), but that is not the point. That cannot be the only reason you judge a film (in my opinion anyway). Besides the fact she's hardly in it (and Lily seems to have brown eyes, not Meryl's lovely piercing blue ones; also, not a spoiler!) I cannot find anything wrong with this movie. I'm pretty sure, looking at it from a movie critic's view (which I'm not, so forgive me), it will receive better reviews and probably will be considered by many as the "better" film (although everyone may have their own opinion about that).
    I'll just say - because I don't want to spoil it for the people who haven't seen it yet - it's deeper. Much, much deeper. Mamma Mia was a party. The greatest, most vibrant party I have ever seen, with people leaving movie theaters skipping and singing. This movie covers the day after the party, and the day before, and all the ones inbetween. It's about growing up, friendships, love, heartbreaks, family, relationships and - most importantly - motherhood & the bond between a parent and their child. I don't think anyone who is a parent, or a sister or a daughter, could walk out of this movie without having shed a couple of tears (personally, I bawled for the last 10 minutes straight). It's heartbreaking, and emotional... and so very, very true.
    But most of the time, it is actually hilarious to the point where you start crying because you're laughing so much. I won't name any particular scenes (I promised, no spoilers), but I haven't seen a movie that made me laugh so much for a very long time.
    So thank you. Thank you Ol, Judy, Gary, Catherine, Phyllida, Richard, Rita and Tom.
    Thank you Christine, Pierce, Dominic, Alexa, Colin, Andy, Lily, Jessica, Amanda, Stellan, Julie, Cher and - my love and my whole life - Meryl.
    But most of all, thank you to ABBA, to Benny, Björn, Agnetha and Anni-Frid for these songs. Nothing like this would have ever been possible without your work. Nothing touches our soul quite like music.
    So thank you. Thank you for the music ❤

      I'm a few months late to this forum, but then I was 10 years(!) late seeing the original "Mamma Mia." Jessica thank you for your thoughtful and well-written comment on the sequel; I wish I had said all that! As for Meryl's too brief time on screen, I suggest this was appropriate given the movie was mostly about Meryl's character Donna in youth and how she originated. I liked the way that was done - and I say Lily James hit it out of the park. Have more Meryl and in a way we'd have young Donna and older Donna competing for attention in the story, IMHO. And if Meryl had too little screen time I'm gonna say Cher had too much! Other than singing "Fernando" I don't think bringing her in at the end did much for the story, seemed more like a celebrity appearance. But I'll call that picking a nit since I did love "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again," and glad we live in a time when we can go buy our own personal copies on DVD. BTW, as I said I only saw Mamma Mia 1 recently, summer 2018, but also lucky enough to see it on stage November 2018 and in London. It ended much like the end credits of the movies only more so, an explosion of music, light and color, the cast dancing in their gaudy costumes, and audience lapping it up. See it live if you get the chance!

      Layma actually I think she’s very animated in this one. She’s usually quiet depending on who interviews her. She has so many interviews after all her movies. She has such a dry sense if humor.

      am i the only one who thinks amanda's not boring? I mean she has a good sense of humor but what gets me the most is how awkward she is which makes it even funnier. maybe it's because i can relate to her but i really enjoy her interviews. And also, I always get this vibes where you know a person's nice. I think she isn't the type to start a friendship and wait for other people to start it, but once you get to know her she's fun.

    • @followersguild7356
      @followersguild7356 3 года назад +2

      @@Elle-ho3uu same... I just enjoy listening to her... I love her weirdness, awkwardness and her deadpan humor in interviews. She's just there chilling actually (interviews with her in general) and being herself and not trying hard to be relatable or something, which is why I kinda got really into her recently.
