So many scuffssss. The last test with durock had a emogogo linear not a mauve!
For shame 😂
Looking forward to that Akko Top75 take... honestly, I'm very curious about the SPR67.
Ooo just in time since I've been considering this board (especially for the plateless option). Don't care for the thin higher pitch of CF but those switches and plateless sound so nice. Thanks again!
Plateless is the number one reason to get this board, definitely! Just watch for the stabilizers
@@AndyVNguyen what do I have to watch with for the stabs I’m a little confused I ordered one and am planning on platelets and already have Durock v2s
Great video bro, are you going to take a look at the akkos new spring mount keyboard?
Is this just straight top-mount or does it have some kind of cushion like we saw in the class 80 design?
Seems a missed opportunity compared to how that keyboard gave options for half plate and burger top mount
It’s just top mount, no burger mount style rubbers
"let's take a look... yup" 😂
I’m currently looking at the Mode Sonnet, E7V2, and the Thera75v2 as 75% boards i will potentially buy. Which board is the most bang-for-your-buck? I’m looking for more of a clacky sound signature.
probably mode sonnet or top mount thera75v2. whichever's cheaper. thera75v2 plateless won't be that clacky imo. maybe with the pcb mount plate option.
this and the hex4b which did you recommend? or can help me make a decision on getting the fbtkl, hex4b or the thera 75 v2.
thera75 v2 is the least hollow of the three so i'd pick that
i still havent ever tried full plateless. considering picking this up tbh
dope vid
For the price hard to argue! Thank you sir
QK75 is coming out soon though at a lower price point. Even though this looks pretty good, I'm just more interested in that. It also looks like plateless will be an option on that board also.
I had qwerty keys reply in a comment that there’d be plateless on the qk75. have they posted any hard information online yet? probably picking between that and this thera75
Qk75 would be cool
Ooo thanks for the info. Appears nothing is confirmed yet, but would be nice to see plateless. Now... which one do I choose D:
I’d choose instock today lol. QK drops for instock are wild and I ain’t doing gb.
@@ImOnMy116 You can see that plateless is an option by looking at their exploded view. How the PCB mounts - it's mounted by the plate = plateless is an option
Ugh...apparently this offers two different plate options for PCB and plate mount stablizers...but the former is already sold out/unavailable? :(
Depends on the color. I would not even touch the plate mount stab optjon
With the QK75 dropping (and having a plateless option I think), do you think that's a better buy than the thera v2?
QK75 is a more entry-level foam board. So if you like the QK65, but want a 75 layout, then that would be a good pick for you. Thera sounds like it has quite a few options available similar to QK75. Up to you on what you prefer as your sound signature, and design philosophy.
Just ordered one in Starlight Black, hopefully someone makes a QMK/VIA patch lol.
oh jeez, oh gosh, is this what an actual navy board is supposed to look like
No its a bit **mid** in a **way** 🗿
Hey Andy, curious if you received a Zoom tkl to review? Super interested to hear your thoughts on it in comparison to the fbtkl and the tiger80 boards.
Did not
@@AndyVNguyen sad, but thanks for the response.
Maybe the spacebar sound was affected by the stabilizer stem's travel distance?
that's what i'm thinking since gateron released those new long pole stabilizers. it's a possibility!
Does that top right blocker support a switch instead of a knob / blocker? It looks like it based on their documentation online. I was very intrigued by your plateless thera75 v1 build, so stoked there’s this v2 coming! Thanks for the review!
Looking at the pcb it definitely has the layout for it
@@AndyVNguyen awesome, thanks Andy! I really wanted to have space for page up, page down, home, and end for Excel. I went ahead purchased an in stock unit. Really excited to try a plateless 75! I've started chasing flex in my keyboards and have been really enjoying the feel of half plate / flex cut boards. This should be fun!
@@ImOnMy116 did it end up working?
@@ceementality I actually ended up soldering in my own knob (just an ec11 encoder I bought from Amazon) and pursuing some key remapping to handle my needs. That said, it definitely has a normal switch socket that you could put a switch in instead. I only have the soldered pcb though, so you may want to consult whether that’s the case on the hotswap as well if you decide to pursue that path.
so if plateless/gasket mounts generally = creamy sound, how do you get the high pitched clack? Kinda bored of the creamy/thock scene - picked up a Tiger 80 lite from your other vid and it was awesome btw! Just trying to chase that elusive high pitched clack setup!
Btw any chance you'll be able to do a vid on how to tune acoustics in a board? e.g. if you're after a certain sound profile, what mods/mounting style of pursue? I think it'll be crazy helpful. Thanks!!
Top mount clacks like crazy especially with long pole switches. No gaskets = no muted dampening. If you want a gasket mount to clack, build it as stiff as possible. It basically defeats the point of gaskets, but at least it clacks.
keybored’s youtube channel has some videos on how to tune your board for different sounds, would highly recommend. From my own experience, sp star meteor whites and meteor oranges are very clacky, even in a gasket mount board. May be something to check out! Certainly agree it’s a combination of many things (switches, plate material, keyboard case material, mounting style, lubing technique, an so on).
thanks for the responses folks - I was looking at Keybored's videos but didn't notice anything that definitively indicated what mods did what, and sometimes the comments/content were contradictory (?)
I thought generally, a denser plate, less cushy mount, long pole switch would help. I'm unsure what tape mod, foam mods, or PE/EV sheet do - any help here?
It's hard to discern when every youtuber does all of those thing as standard lol
You can just get loud switches like sp star meteor white and mx blacks. If given the choice, brass or alu plate. And top mount if you can but gasket can be clacky too. No pcb foam or case foam
@@AndyVNguyen thanks for the response sir! for your Tiger80 Lite, how do you plug in the switches without the PCB foam? i tried doing it but was hella hard lol
Hi Andy, when will the black sesame review drop ?
soon, foo
I have a TX rev3 stabs on my plateless Glacier 80 with Zaku switches and I have no problem with my spacebar stab. Might be just one off with your TX stab.
I only bring it up because people bought rev3 before me and noticed a lot of issues. Of this purchase of 5 sets from DK.. 3 have been bad. 1 has been OK.
That and all of the people who talk about it in my server and comment on my videos about it.
I believe the space bar of the deep sea predator has an quirk that it's design creates 'hollowness'. Tried other spacebars and it sounded full and poppy. Just a cent of my opinion
there was an odd issue with klein blue as well
for my very first keeb I bought a moonlander because I have sad wrists and Boba silent U4s because work. And so I’m not on the market for another board. All I can do is watch your reviews and just imagine being able to try all of them. Lol.
hahah live vicariously through my content! and maybe try to find a meetup to go to
damn Smith & Rune Magnus175, 7V v2, Thera75 v2, Mode Sonnet ... so many good looking and expensive 75% boards comming up.
7V v2??? I need it
7V V2, could you share source news please?
Is plateless still an option when using a hotswap PCB?
All gonna depend on whether or not the switch fits tight in pcb. I never recommend it.
Alright, thanks for the response!
Anytime
How's the plateless typing feel compare to the tiger80?
More bouncy, almost too much. I’m more consistent with plateless though
@@AndyVNguyen that's all I needed to know! Just ordered one, and hopefully it's my end game lol
Is this keyboard just top mount
It’s top and plateless
This keyboard is more hollow than Tomo, Tomo has the same structural design to the Jane, but the daughter board. The only advantage of daughter board is to give more flexibility to the PCB, however, it also leave a big groove or say non flat bottom, which makes most people feel Jane is a little better on sound. IMO the top mount does not need PCB to have daughter board, both Tomo and Jane don’t have much flex anyway. And based on my observation, most premium custom keyboards’ typing angle is 7 degree or higher, the thicker bottom case gives a better sound, but the thick bottom case is bad for ergonomic, more flat the better.
Andy wearing the right type of shirt.
They’re coming back!!!
I think there is something wrong with your mic. I keep hearing a faint whistling around the parts you were talking to the camera.

9 days ago and I can't get it? I thought this would be in stock.
it's on their website instock tho? did you order already
@@AndyVNguyen well the white one is. But that's to be expected I guess.
@@AndyVNguyen I ended up ordering it. FYI shipping to US is $60.
Good job Andy, I secured an unit, you helped me with some questions on your server aswell, big fan!
glad i could help! you're gonna love the keyboard
I just got the Shelby 80 rip my wallet, I thought it was over.
It’s never over when your brain says it’s over lol. But there’s always new products

It’s over… welcome back

Greg looking handsome as usual

I like the "out there" styling and I prefer a quieter build. If this was a TKL I'd be pulling my wallet out
Glad there is a market for the quirky! I’m not a fan of ships. Fan of the sea, yes… but not ships. For that reason I was meh about think6.5v2 also
@@AndyVNguyen I guess Andy is less of a ship man and more of a sea man :D

hahaha ryan higa the goat
man get sum sleep im getting worried
i do my best
sb still bad like back then - no buy for me
it's that long pole action man. it was totally solid with the mauve
i don't like long pole so i don't mind but it would be a deal breaker for a lot of people because of the long pole trend
