- Willie Banks reached 12.51 meters (41 feet 0 1/2 inch) in the triple jump on his second try at the Pasadena Senior Games on June 4, 2016, at Caltech. The former elite world-record holder's first and fourth jumps also exceeded the listed American record for men 60-64 of 11.96 (39-3) by the late Tom Patsalis in 1982. Banks had a goal of beating the age-group world record of 12.68 (41-7 1/4) by Stig Bäcklund in 2000. A half-hour after the triple jump, Banks entered the high jump in progress and won another gold with a clearance of 1.71 meters (5-7 1/4) - just under his recent American record of 1.73 meters (5-8). He concluded his day with three failed attempts at a world record 1.82 meters (5-11 1/2). Mike Powell, who set the world record in the long jump (29-4 1/2) at Tokyo IAAF worlds in 1991, cheered Banks during his triple jump tries.

wow.....still going over 40 ft over 60 years old is impressive.....most people are lucky to still be walking without pain at that age....
Amazing. A men 60 years old to leap on 12.54 & 1.82..... And another great - Mike Powel - applausing alongside. It has been really gorgeous....
Willie Banks is my favorite 😂 he’s so funny and don’t ask him for a high five or your going to have to jump for it lol
Awesome champ, its good to see you still doing it at 60. smile
Very cool. Both Willie and Mike look great!
Nothing better than seeing my former track coach still kick some butt on the field!
Majestic!
Wow!
Fabulous Willie. Greetings from Vancouver Canada. Trying to get back into my favourite event after 35 years @ 54, but in a hockey-centric nation, can't find a coach to help someone my age in the TJ. Regularly watch Banks, Edwards, Taylor, Powell, coaching videos etc. to self-help to get to a perhaps unattainable 14.20 in one year. Any sage advise ?
Hey, search for a public group on Facebook called "We Jump N Sand - Triple Jump"' and join it for some support , advice, and coaching.
Thanks !!!! Amarolas.
Sympa un record tout seul
High jump standards are supposed to be no further apart than 13' 3". You aren't fudging are you?
Would be more impressive if willie and mike ever held real jobs!
